No matter how much I listen to other music, I will always come back to Converge. No band has impacted me as much as this band. Thank you Jake, Kurt, Nate, and Ben
Yong Shrimp It's funny. There is a wide spectrum of fans in age. THAT speaks volumes....especially for how unique and crushing they are. This isn't Zepplin or Sabbath or Pink Floyd, to where it's easy to pick up and be absorbed by it. Converge is a FANS band. They remind me a lot of Neurosis. A band that takes a minute to click. You may not like them at first...but something keeps you coming back and when that SOMETHING hits you, it's history. You are hooked.
same! these men have crafted a unique vintage that many love and I can never explain what converge is and will always be the band that opened my eyes and many others to all music. new and old. THAW!
This is strange that this album makes me happy, relaxed, when it is perceived as "violent" metal by people who dont know this band! This album is so cool!
+Dhieen its not strange that makes you happy normally people think metal is not relaxing but most metal when you like to ear is relaxing because you like the music
I remember I had never heard of converge, but i had heard great things about them so i bought this album on vinyl. I accidentally listened to whole thing on 33 rpm and I was like, woah this is some detailed doom metal. Then I tried listening to it later on Spotify and I was like WTF THIS IS WAY BETTER. Ahhhhh those were days
Hilarious. I got the vinyl today. Was just playing it for the first time (at 33rpm) reading these comments. I thought it sounded different haha. Would have noticed normally but a joint and this Florida heat is frying my brain ;)
How are people hating on this, if any of you are musicians can you not hear the crazy skill and talent that is put into these songs. They are definitely not easy to play and very creative
This is the first time this "hardcore"/emo style of vocals has really worked for me. Converge can take just about any formula and make it amazing, that's what makes them so incredible.
This album fucking rocks!!! That first track is a killer, the emotion you get off that is impressive, like first light/last light, you get that impending doom feeling... I love it!!!
I know you wrote this nearly a decade ago, but this is one of the only comments where the whole multimedia thing is mentioned. I wish more bands would do this, its like a modern version of staring at a vinyl slip while you listen. The art alone gas brought me back here dozens of times.
I've loved this band for years but this is my first time listening to them in about 6 years. Something I picked up on right away this time (which is part of what makes this band SO awesome) is that this music is produced like a real band, like how bands in the 70s did it. Most music from this time is overproduced as hell (with drums that sound like a computer is playing them), where these guys sound like they're playing with a real drummer.
Years ago I commented on another video how it was sad for me when meaning was lost when I couldn't follow Bannon's voice. I'm not sure if my hearing perception has changed or if it's just his singing - probably both - but I am happy to notice that he's become way clearer without losing the edge; near perfection. All these years he's managed to keep his chords, to improve, and still not soften. What a beast! I should say, the other performances on this album are also stupendous.
I love the way Converge goes straight to brainstorming badass songs with a lot of freedom of imagination. The is how a truly free band should be able to make music.
Anyone comparing Converge to BMTH needs to fucking stop. The musicians in this band are some of the best in metal today. Ben Koller,Kurt Ballou,Nate Newton,Jacob Bannon. Hell, even Stephen Brodsky was in Converge. The amount of talent is astounding. This band's music is leagues better than BMTH's generic trash.
start/end Yeah dude,I was scrolling through the comments of this video and found some people drawing comparisons, prompting me to write this small rant.
I feel you dude I've told people the same thing tell I'm blue in my face, but I have found keeping that knowledge to your self is a lot more rewarding when you hear or see stuff like self proclaimed music listening prodigies that think they know everything about what makes music good but then turn around and say fawk the Beatles they suck, and then wants a tattoo of Elvis beating the Beatles asses (witch I'm praying this person gets) at witch time I will finally open my mouth and be like "hay you do know Elvis never wrote his own music wright.". Or my personal favorite people who say they love metal music and think black Sabbath is a 80s hair band or think that they suck. I guess I get a kick out of arrogant people that will fight you tooth and nail to prove how right they are and don't realize how wrong and stupid and inaccurate they really are. but yeah fawk anyone trying to compare converge to anything. I honestly can't think of anything close its either converge or a band trying desperately to sound like converge but while falling flat on their faces and being pissed on by poodle's that's it.
+kevin berg I mean, botch was somewhat similar (while still remaining with an awesome unique style of their own) in the 90s. So yeah, converge isn't the only band that sounds like this style, but granted no one else has the exact sound they possess. But yeah, Botch is a really good band..you should check em out if you like this.
It's impossible to describe what I feel when I hear Converge. An explosion of feelings, no doubt, from crying to screaming, to laughing. Thank you Converge!!! love from Portugal

This album has its mark on society, and I know while there is so much crap out there that is so untrue and so fake that sells millions of albums, there is still one thing that holds true. The message and the purity and the passion and the effort put into this album is so heartfelt that only a small percentage of society will accept it. This is beautiful chaos, this is a blitzkrieg of sound, this makes me want to put jumper cables on my tits and blast my stereo~!

Hi Scoot, Oscar... I am so happy with all of the consumers of this band as well as the true men at work here. Within this Converge framework we witness a band that consistently creates album after album with that riff-laden sugary-sweet sonic chaos which makes us all flip, as our ears come alive: tri-tempo frenzy fills within a 4/4 tempo, start-stop glee, Justin pouring out is heart 24/7... It changes everything when you realize the person you are talking to knows about this gem of a band... then the discussion/pit/etc... is truly on. Cannibal Corpse, Akercocke, The Faceless, Behemoth, Job for a Cowboy, Red Chord, Deafheaven (many people will kill me for saying Deafheaven but whatever) and Meshuggah just to name a few. (Depending on if you mean equally heavy/heavier or equally crazy/crazier).

I listened to Jane Doe and couldn't get into it. That album was why I stopped listening to them in the first place. I remember hearing it when it came out and thinking another metalcore band softening up. I'm glad their new stuff is way more interesting though.
Putting Jane Doe and "softening up" in the same sentence is not something that would have occurred to me! Maybe you'll enjoy Axe to Fall and You Fail Me more :)
people saying that CONVERGE sounds like Bring Me The Horizons dont know ANYTHING about converge..... they where ther WAY before BMTH.... and Bring Me The Horizon fucking sucks btw....
***** Their last two albums, especially Sempiternal, were solid. I also like stuff like Converge, Isis, The Ocean, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc. People who say they're just a band for little girls probably haven't listened to their recent musical output.
ARKAEA33 Sempiternal and There is a Hell were pretty great albums, admittedly. But I have a real hard time with Bring Me because of their fanbase as well.
Zach Leger I've always held the position that you should ignore fans and judge on quality alone. There are plenty of things that idiots like that are actually good and there's no reason to write them off just because they also happen to appeal to morons. That's why I have no trouble saying Mean Girls is a funny movie.
I don't know how they do it, but Converge has stayed musically and ethically intact and relevant in the hardcore community since day one. How many bands can you really say that about?
Lol right? I can not get over this kid! I imagine him coming back to this same video in a couple of years and saying "you are all so right, and i was so wrong, im sorry"
Converge are one of the most respected and influential metal bands of the last 20 years, they have an extremely loyal following and their albums frequently feature in "albums of the year" in magazines and websites all over the world. I'm sure they can handle you not liking them.
People like you honestly make me proud to say that Converge is one of my favorite bands. There is NO set definition to music. If you think there is, which obviously you do, i feel nothing but bad for you
It's worth pointing out, if no-one has already, that this is the collector's edition version of the album with the bonus tracks (including On My Shield). Standard CD is only 38mins :)
Previous Converge albums made you feel like you got hit by a truck. This makes you feel like you got hit by a high speed train. Loving every minute of it.
No matter how much I listen to other music, I will always come back to Converge. No band has impacted me as much as this band. Thank you Jake, Kurt, Nate, and Ben

These men are so gifted with creativity. The material they create for us to listen to and study.is so darn enjoyable. Thanks brothers!
Has a piece of art ever been so beautifully constructed that you just wanna cry from experiencing it?
Because I'm feeling that right now.
+Zach Leger you know what else is beautifully constructed and makes me cry from experiencing it?
my mom
This album is basically as good as it gets. It is easily the best album to come out since the last Converge album.
Converge is classic. Forever the exception, not the rule.
Pure utter chaos at its finest the metal sludge with the punk aesthetic is there signature alone
How are people hating on this, if any of you are musicians can you not hear the crazy skill and talent that is put into these songs. They are definitely not easy to play and very creative
Who cares how hard the songs are to play? They're expressing interesting ideas, that's why it's worth listening to.
Very creative but not hard to play
Everytime I come back to listen to the album I have to start from the beginning, can't skip a track. Album of the year!
Holy lord. How can anything be this good
I love Converge so much, and this album only reassures my love for them.

people saying that CONVERGE sounds like Bring Me The Horizons dont know ANYTHING about converge..... they where ther WAY before BMTH.... and Bring Me The Horizon fucking sucks btw....
I like both BMTH and Converge, and for the record, I got into Converge first
How does it suck that I got into the better band first?
When I have kids, they are going to listen to amazing music! Streaming into the womb!!!!!
Anyone else love Glacial Pace?
Yes!
yes especially the final ending
I don't know how they do it, but Converge has stayed musically and ethically intact and relevant in the hardcore community since day one. How many bands can you really say that about?
Holy Fuck, not even to the end of the first song yet and I'M READY TO STAND UP AND SMASH SOME SHIT!!!
New favourite band.
Just came across this band today on Radio 1. They are UNREAL! Well chuffed with this discovery.
I fucking love aimless arrow!
Lol right? I can not get over this kid! I imagine him coming back to this same video in a couple of years and saying "you are all so right, and i was so wrong, im sorry"
chaotic catastrophic apocalyptic core
Quotation from one rewiev of AWLWLB: „Converge's newest LP is Hardcore without rules but with heart“. That's what music should be about
Please don't read the comments
+Jack Morrison i like your picture
GFY
Converge are one of the most respected and influential metal bands of the last 20 years, they have an extremely loyal following and their albums frequently feature in "albums of the year" in magazines and websites all over the world.
I'm sure they can handle you not liking them.
Is there any other similar songs like Aimless Arrow?
On this album? Not really. But check out Last Light off their album You Fail Me.
Try some Dillinger Escape Plan bro!
Dark Horse.
People like you honestly make me proud to say that Converge is one of my favorite bands. There is NO set definition to music. If you think there is, which obviously you do, i feel nothing but bad for you
It's magical
Like making a body disappear
Converge is literally a perfect example of how a band should progress.
this fucking kills
It's worth pointing out, if no-one has already, that this is the collector's edition version of the album with the bonus tracks (including On My Shield). Standard CD is only 38mins :)
Looking back I really see the Lil B influence in this
Previous Converge albums made you feel like you got hit by a truck. This makes you feel like you got hit by a high speed train. Loving every minute of it.
