Thanks for this great tip. I'm amazed at how good baking soda is on grease. I think it's my new cleanser. Non-toxic and effective. Oh yes, AND my toaster oven has never looked better.
Thank you for this. I love to cook but have been on the road for over a year. All my cooking is done in a large convection toaster oven. Great to use but didn't know how to clean it properly. Appreciate you taking the time to share. :-)
I tried this and have the cleaning paste stuck in some deep hard to reach cracks and crevices. Would it be safe to just leave it there and continue using my toaster oven?
The interior of yours didn't look as bad as mine. Mine has GREASE, CAKED on the inside (ceiling) and on the inside top as you open the door. I hope this mixture works! I've tried cleaning the interior walls before but only with minor success.
Me too. I finally bought Barkeeper's friend after trying vinegar & water, then vinegar and baking soda. It helped a lot. Since the crumb tray does not contact the food, I took it outside and sprayed it with Easy Off (I know chemicals, yuck, but it was either that or buy a new crumb tray) and that finally did it. I triple washed it to make sure and get all the Easy Off off. Beware of covering the bottom with tinfoil, our Breville manuals say it is a fire hazard.
Try adding vinegar to the baking soda and make a soupy paste...beware it will bubble and foam. Pat it on the inside {or smooth it as best you can} avoiding elements. Let it sit. Wipe out the gunk. Keep wiping till all gunk removed. Now with a clean sponge or cloth using clean water wipe it all down again...and again...and again until all residual soda vinegar treatment is gone. Often this will work for most toaster oven messes though in all honesty mine is such a mess I have my doubts. I got lazy and let it go waaay longer than I should have and I us mine for everything..breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts.
I recommend using an abrasive scrubber/steel wool to get off those really stuck on black bits on the metal sheet. It'll take some scrubbing but they'll come off.
@@michaeljohnmorales7613 Yours might be nonstick. If it's nonstick then don't do it. But, if it's strictly metal/steel, then you're safe to use a steel scrubber.
Note that Breville instructions specifically say NOT to put foil on the crumb tray - will cause overheating or something, as I recall. But this was awesome - very well done - and what a job!
This is not a Breville appliance I shared in this video. This was an Oster and nowhere in the manual did it say that. I do know that Breville has shared this video with their customers so I must have done something right lol
I love this TUTORIAL, thank you so much,Now I can take that toaster clean it an put it back into the kitchen chemical free love you for that. Do you have anything for the air vents in the floor, chemically free
Ashleigh B Sorry about that! I don't usually measure it. Sometimes I do more of a paste, but here it looked more like liquid. I would say half a cup of water and a 1/4 a cup of baking soda.
Taylor Elmore sweet! Thank you. I'll be giving this a try in the morning. And I'll be subscribing after I finish this comment since you answered so quickly. :)
Don’t laugh……for really baked on food, where possible I scrape it off with a single edge razor blade…then finish with baking soda solution. Especially the glass door.
Hi my friend. Thanks for the great video you Shared with us. Very interesting .Movie really nice. Thanks for sharing. please keep, in touch, ...,💞.,,.💯💞..,💓.,.

This is my exact toaster oven and it looks just like that. Bless you 🙏🏾✨👏🏾
Thank you so much for sharing! I, too, have the small breville oven like the others. I googled some vids but clicked on yours first and I’m glad!
My toaster oven was disgusting! I used your hack and in a few hours of letting the baking soda sit....it was AMAZING!! Thank you!

Thank you! I'm going to try this. My little oven is very similar to yours.
The unit is of optimal size for my purposes, performs even better than expected, and keeps us happy to use.
If you add a little vinegar to the mixture and let it sit for 45 mins, it will get everything off easily☺️
How do you clean the burnt food on the element?
I'm not sure if you know this, but Breville actually sent me this link when I inquired on how to clean my smart oven!
I wasn't, but maybe that's why it has so many views!
I'm doing mine in the morning! THANK YOU! Great tip!
It’s 11:15 pm and I am in bed. I want to get up and clean my toaster oven now.
Its 12:54 in the morning and I'm thinking the same! Lol
LOL ! 😂
Same

As long as it's dried you should be fine. I'd use a butter knife or a toothpick with a damp paper towel to get as much of it as you can.
kitchen... here I come!!! Thank you!
I can't wait to clean mine in the morning! Thank you!
That is so much watched the first couple of minutes of video. Pulling the tray at was a breakthrough moment for me. Will watch the rest as wel!

Thank you this helps me know how to clean my toaster oven.
do you know why baking soda and water only? (why not add vinegar to mixture?)

NO! Adding the vinegar just neutralizes the acidity of the baking soda. Check the pH scale of each.

Manual instruction strictly said that never use steel scrubs/steel wool
@@michaeljohnmorales7613 Yours might be nonstick. If it's nonstick then don't do it. But, if it's strictly metal/steel, then you're safe to use a steel scrubber.
Do you put baking soda on the elements to clean them? You didn't explain that.
Thank you so much!
You have motivated me to clean my toaster oven! Great video!

I assume you are using bicarbonate of soda NOT baking powder? They are not the same
Yes Baking soda is bicarbonate of soda. No where in the video did I mention baking powder...
How much baking soda to water should you use to make the mixture? You didn't clarify on amounts.
Ashleigh B Sorry about that! I don't usually measure it. Sometimes I do more of a paste, but here it looked more like liquid. I would say half a cup of water and a 1/4 a cup of baking soda.

I must admit I've never seen such a filthy appliance, ever. This must have taken weeks to clean. How could it look brand new afterwards ?
Took me 10min it works immediately
She might want to spring clean that switch plate behind her.....
My switch plates are clean thank you
