did people not follow the directions¬ do exactly what u did! I tried this in my dirty over, I waited 8 hrs then used a magic eraser....my stove is super clean &it left no residue for me so i am well pleased!
You can also boil baking soda (sodium bicarbonate PH 9) in water to create sodium carbonate which is a stronger alkaline (~PH 11) to break down the grease better.
I use an oven sheet for the floor of the oven. It keeps the "crud" off the enamel and makes cleaning a bit easier (at least on the bottom of the oven!) I also don't over fill food in casseroles or sheet pans. This keeps spillage to a minimum.
My oven has a big warning not to use foil on the bottom. That's certainly what my grandparents use on their old stoves. I'm kinda disappointed we need to buy special fancy oven mats now!
For the extra crusty messes that won't come off with just scrubbing, use a pan scraper or even a paint scraper to get that off. I used to clean student residences and that's what we used for super dirty ovens.
I thought he was going to make a paste with baking soda and vinegar, but he just mixes baking soda with water. Am I missing something here? Was the vinegar only for the racks?
How did you clean the bottom of the oven? The thing where the heat comes from and it has holes. My oven is clean but I can see the mixture residue there and I can’t lift it out
As an apiance repair technician all of your advice is great Except telling your viewers to use the self cleaning option, I as well as pretty much anyone I've ever worked with tell customers NOT TO USE SELF CLEAN as these temperatures have a tendency of damaging other parts like control boards and locking mechanism oh yeah not to mention your electronic gas igniter may burn out
Yes, I completely agree with you. I had an oven with self clean and about 2 weeks before thanksgiving I decided to use it. Well, the oven stopped working and when the repairman came he toldme the self clean wrecked the oven. Fortunately for me, I had the extended warranty and got the oven replaced by PC Richards. A few days before Thanksgiving, the same repairman came with a neww oven and installed it. I was panicking thinking I would not have an oven in time for Thanksgiving. Since then I have never even considered using the self clean feature.
I’m afraid to use the self cleaning option on my new double ovens. My ovens are in the wall and I’m scared of a fire. I’ve spent three whole days trying to get my double ovens clean using the baking soda and vinegar method because I wanted to do it naturally without harsh chemicals. Unfortunately, this method did not work very well for me and my ovens were not very dirty.
@@HappyWife93when cleaning your oven you use baking soda and water as your mixer not vinegar. Vinegar weakens the mixture. Use vinegar in a spray bottle after you wipe clean of the baking soda. To remove any remaining dirt and bring in a shine to the oven.
Thank you!!! I did this (minus the magic eraser) and oh my goodness, it did a great job. The amount of old dirty that just melted. It is easier to do than it looks. Great job to do during the lockdown Thank you 🙏🏽
Use a silicon scrubber to get the burnt bits off. Then I run a 5 hour self cleaning cycle overnight, leave all windows open, bring in a fan to get the smell out. In the morning there's no smell. I use my vacuum to get rid of the ash. Then I use a damp soft cloth to clean it. Works every time. I would never get my gasket wet because it can damage it.

Hello from Alberta ! I never use my self clean and I just bought baking soda and vinegar. Last night the oven started smoking from steak I was baking. The smoke alarm was screeching 😮. I hope this works lol. My oven is 25 years old 😱
So what do you recommend to use on the walls of the oven if there is still a few little spots here and there? Example is say you're cleaning the oven which is decently clean but just has the dirt on the walls or the crime or whatever it is and you want your oven to be sparkly clean for a move out inspection how can you get rid of those little smudges? Just keep doing the self cleaning oven bit?
This was a great video..thanks so much for sharing this our oven is just like this. I have basically everything. Definitely going to do this today. So glad I found this video😊
I tried baking soda & water paste I tried baking soda paste with white vinegar. p.s. the bubbling is the reaction between the (base) soda and the (acid) vinegar). I tried ceramabryte. Finally I tried the stainless steel cleaner that came with my pots and pans from Hestan. Finally, the stain is COMPLETELY GONE.
I think you're going to be ok with easy off. The chemistry has all been taken cared of. Spray, wait and wipe. The oil and grease had been turned to soap. Just plain warm water will do the rest.
Is something missing from this video? In other instruction I’ve seen, vinegar is sprayed on the dried paste so the reaction can help to lift food products.
im just done spread the baking powder and water mine wait for 12 hrs to wipe out again with vinegar hope cleans up tomorow i watch defferent vedio hoping turn out clean
If the oven racks are that dirty, take them to a self-service car wash and pressure-wash or use an at-home pressure-washer if you have one. - from a friend.
I leave oven racks soaking in a cup or so of clothes washing soap powder and hot water overnight or for a few hours, immersed in the metal laundry tub. Then in the morning use a Steelo soap pad to simply wipe over the steel and rinse. The grease just melts away so easily.
So I have a question, what will happen if I cover the door of the oven with a coat of that paste and placed paper towels over it soaked in vinegar to sit over night ? Will it still clean or will it ruin my oven door?
@Random User Don't know. Baking soda reacts with vinegar to form carbon dioxide and water. So it could be useful to unblock a drain. Just put some baking soda down the drain and then add some vinegar. Just hope it does not explode
@Random User Baking soda when mixed with vinegar produces CO2. In an enclosed space it may produce problems. Like if you shake a soft drink bottle you see CO2 gas bubbles and the gas pressure builds up. You can release the pressure by opening the lid. That is why baking soda plus vinegar can unblock a drain. The 2 react together to produce CO2 which produces gas pressure. Just like when you shake a soft drink bottle
I have heard from many things even if your oven has self clean do not use it. It’s one way to start fires and I don’t like the way it smells after it finishes it. I remember someone would put oven on self clean and leave the house and go do stuff and come back they say if you use self clean you must stay at home so you can keep an eye even though burnt on stuff is not good for you so why did they add that button if we are not supposed to use it
Nope. It might work at first but then it would leave everything sticky and might attract insects. Distilled white vinegar is the only type that should be used for cleaning (and thankfully it's the cheapest :D)
Please take caution if u r going to attempt, my mother tried to clean the oven after learning this method and it broke the oven completely n we had to purchase a new oven.

I like Cynthia Rodgers answer or you can also use a garbage bag just turn it inside out when finished use it for the trash or a dollar tree table cloth
