It was definitely in a sorry state when I bought the car. My original owner took it off of the car and just stored it in an out building of some sort in California. It worked out in the end and not crazy expensive.
Hi Rick, what a crappy job (pun intended). I'm glad the quote for the new lining was below budget. I hope the job they do is anything below par. Cheers Peter
Peter J. Uren Hi Peter, It is always good to hear from you. Thanks for watching, it’s a little boring , but I figured it would be nice to document the process. :). The quote was a nice surprise, though even less expensive would have been nice. Ha ha. I just finished book2 two nights ago and I really enjoyed it. I am attached to the characters ow and looking forward to getting into book 3. Book one was very good, but your writing style and detail was even better the second time around. Cheers
Rick; I have a O4 996 with the same top. I noticed when you demonstrated the removal of your top you had to take the round plastic circle plugs off to get to your screws to turn. When I bought my car it was missing these covers. Any idea what these are called?
Hi Kevin, Hardtop latch hole covers. They are pretty inexpensive as far as Porsche stuff goes. Here is an eBay link: www.ebay.com/i/142538757810?chn=ps&dispItem=1 Thank you for watching and cheers
Hey Rick, $400 with suede not bad I’d say. I had a rat get into my wife’s Lexus RX350 and chew on the plug wires, $600 to replace the set, Lexus doesn’t sell these by the wire, I only needed 3, only. Two years later, same thing on her NEW RX, one month in but this time it was only a throttle body wire $150 to solder the wire together, I think Lexus was being generous. Needless to say that her new Lexus, yes her 3rd RX I just sleep outside. FYI, we live in South OC, but we have a green belt behind our house so that is where they come from. Great for privacy but horrible for wildlife, coyotes and the occasional mountain lion. Nice video but I think a hazmat suit or some kind of breathing apparatus would have been preferred, I forget what kind of virus can be spread from rat and mouse pee. Hantavirus, just looked it up.
Wow! That is a serious bummer with your wife's cars. They are nasty little buggers and cause all kinds of problems. I would agree I should have brought a hazmat suit home from work LOL. It was nasty stuff. No symptoms yet thankfully. Just a couple more days and I drop the car off. Can't wait for the finished product.
Hi Rick, it has been such a long time now that I don't really remember. I don't think it was anything difficult, but I'm going to search my hard drive for the video files and see if I have it recorded. I will let you know here in a bit if I find anything.
Good video Rick and so sorry to hear of the mouse drama with your roof, I would have been gutted if that was my roof. Thanks for sharing, nice job.

Nice vid mate, Labour of love though I am sure!
Thank you! Yes, definitely nice to have it back in shape.
Hi Rick, how do you remove the interior of your hard top.

Don't get too attached to the characters. You never know when one might get snatched away ... But no spoiler alert here! LOL.
Oh man...Not right sir, not right. LOL :) I just finished downloading book 3
