- This Martin Short Speciall aired one night in place of SNL at some point in the early to mid 90s. I have never seen it anywhere since and it's a shame because it's hilarious. The quality is not the greatest because I recorded it from the TV onto VHS. I suppose poor quality is better than this never seeing the light of day again... ENJOY!!!
Before Zoolander, Martin Short already perfected the male model. lol
This an answer to my prayers! I have searched for years, thank you!! My husband and i quote this all the time.
Loved this show. He's a genius and the idiots who under promoted it and time slots were the only reason it's not still on. Thanks so much for this post. I lost my VHS copies. I mean Jiminie Glick was born here. A place of legend.
Martina! OMG hilarious
OMG!! Thank you for putting this video up!!!! I've been looking for it forever!!!!
I think this was the only one that aired?
Too bad, the real great ones always get cut. Thank you very much for posting the whole show!
I saw him live in Sydney last year...it was absolutely incredible. Second row and I swear, all of my childhood dreams came true to see my favourite actor and comic!
In grade school me and my friend watched this special over and over and over...
Well, I was closer to 30 and absolutely loved it. And I agree -- it is still one of the best things I've seen.
This program won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries or a Special.
At 10:00, that is Miss Gathercole from Primetime Glick. He was smart to have the brilliant Phil Hartman in this. I always liked Marty's humor and his strange characters. I liked Jiminy Glick, Jackie Rogers Jr. and Ed Grimley.
Stop entering my brain and stealing the things I would say about Marty Short if I had thought of it sooner! Haa no I kid...lol
But I agree with all you state above. I never missed tapping Martys 1st showtime specials. His Johnny Appleseed. Martin Short TV, with the birth of Jiminy Glick. then Prime time Glick etc.... been following Marty since I was 8 SCTV/SNL days. wrote him.He sent back autographed pics every time. great guy. Funniest guy in the last 3 decades at least. The best all acknowledge the strong influence he had them. Bill Hader,Jim Carey,Will Forte etc... The list goes on.
Martin Short is the master of all comedy!!!
He's brilliant. I saw this live too (and I just happened to put a VHS tape into the machine -- thinking I was going to recored SNL).
I didn't see this. I remember seeing the original Martin Short Show before it was "retooled" into this, like once. It was great. There was a game show with Steve Martin as a contestant dogcatcher and Catherine O'hara and a couple others I don't remember. If anyone got that on tape please post. And thanks for posting this. I didn't get to see it when it aired.
wish i could watch this in HD or burned on a DVD maybe? i can't believe there was only 5 shows!
i miss Jan Hook
OMG thank you! i have been trying to purchase this forever and it is impossible to find!
I have this on VHS! Love it!
@davmaz I was probably like 11 or 12 at the time and was blown away... The funny thing is that it holds up perfectly today!! I love the Models Amalgamated and Jan Hooks
Love this show,it´s a shame this wasn´t broadcasted worldwide to europe :(
I watched this in 1996 and taped it. I was so happy that I got it on tape, being that I usually taped SNL. When I went to share this video with my friend I found that my brother had taped over it with Ellen. I rewound the tape again and again hoping I was wrong. I have looked for this forever as well. I can't believe it's here!
1995
@mklein5179 No problem, I figured there would be people out there who would appreciate this!!! I've watched it so many times and it just stays funny!!
Wow, he loved him some Guiding Light!
