Gas Stove Range Not Igniting - Easy Fix
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 июл 2024
- Is your gas stove range or oven burner not igniting? Is your burner sparking but not igniting or sparking but takes a long time to light? Or perhaps one side of the flames is a lot smaller than the other.. Many times the cause of this is simply some oil, water, or debris that is obstructing one of the gas ports or slots in the stove top burner. Cleaning out the openings on the burners will almost always fix that problem. In this video I demonstrate how to clean a burner that was sparking but not lighting.

thank you! i was about to disassemble the burner. i used a paper clip to clear the whole at the igniter and it lights up immediately. great tip. thank you again!
Thank you, thank you! You saved me a call to a repair guy. What did we do before RUclips! I just used an old toothbrush and brushed out everything, then used a toothpick a bit as well. Like magic! The burner I was having issues with now lights IMMEDIATELY!! Works better than when it was brand new!
I cannot believe this worked. I am in my late 20s and started living alone for the first time about 6 months ago. Never have had to worry about things like this plus having a fear for fire, I started to panic. But since so many people said it had worked for them I decided to brave it up and give it a try. I didn’t have any toothpicks so I took a needle and taped it on to a chopstick for comfort. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM. Took me literally seconds. Thank you so much 😭❤️
WOW! That was amazing! It took me like 2 secs to fix the stove top! It's been "broken" for years! I thought we needed to call a repairman to fix it. THANK YOU!
This was a lifesaver and a money saver! My husband and I have been cooking with just two burners for the past 8 months. I had to clean out the grooves and let the pieces dry overnight. I assembled everything back together this morning, and all burners worked like a charm. Thank you for this video! I would have felt silly hiring a repair person to take a look.
After avoiding two burners for 2 months I finally thought…look up a fix on RUclips. Worked perfectly, quick fix. Thank you!
Thank you! I was just getting ready to call an appliance repair person and I watched your RUclips video and voila! My burners 🔥working. I had to use a socket wrench to undo tiny screws to release the metal burner, but with thorough cleaning with sandpaper and turning all the burners on - it worked! And is lighting every time. You’re a lifesaver!
Perfect advice, thanks! I was going crazy taking the range apart trying to figure what detail was missing. Never realized the tiny holes were there :)
Thanks. I had the same problem. I was freaked out to see that the lighter worked simultaneously on all the burners, so you laid rest the fears I had that it was a problem. But, to get each burner to work properly I did as you said and all works OK. YEA! Thanks!
Fantastic! Thank you so much for making this video! For the past year I've been using the back burner to light a long barbecue match to light the front burner... So glad i finally looked this up and the algorithm Gods led me to your video...
This worked like a champ. I just took a paring knife and put it though all the slats, used a took pick for the holes, and it works as good as new! Thank you for your help!
This video was super helpful. Thank you. I fixed my burner that would not light following your advice. Thank you.
Thank you!! This worked! Easy fix and I was thinking I would have to call someone to come out and take a look. You saved me money. Thanks again!!
cleaning out the holes and using an O2 spray can worked like a charm. thank you
My gas burner would only light on a very low. My husband just tried sticking the toothpick in the hole and turning it. This worked!!! Now the burner actually has a high flame when set to high!! Thank you so much!! I didn't run across many videos advising to put a toothpick in the hole where the gas comes out. Thanks again!!
Ok, I've had one burner irritating me for a couple of years now and tried to figure out the issue off and on during that time. This morning another one started acting the same way, so it was time to research more. Found this video and figured I'd give it a shot. I was disappointed that my pinholes looked completely clear to the naked eye and no gunk came out when I inserted the toothpick. I thought this would be a waste but figured I had nothing to lose. Put the burner back together AND IT WORKED! Both burners light up consistently now. Thank you!
Thanks so much for your advice! I clean the slots of the burner that was not working with sand paper and it is working great!
I have to say this is really useful!!!! I was so surprised that such a small trick can fix a stove in 1 min. I tried it and immediately I have the fire.... Man, you are the best!
Thanks bud, from me and the good lady wife.
This small part of England salutes you. 👍🏼
The term bud is very condescending.
@@mohammadh.9180 No it's not.
@@mohammadh.9180Your lack of understanding and hypocrisy are truly hilarious.
Good day, Sir.
Wow, after a year of not working, your video helped me in less than 5 minutes to resolve the issue..............Thanks
Thank you so much. You’re a genius because it worked. Saved me cost of having a repairman come out or replacing it, both of which are costly.
Thanks for this! I thought I had cleaned the burner thoroughly, but it still didn’t light. The hole was clear but as I looked closer, there are two holes and one was still clogged. Easy peasy.
some times the hardest part is getting started. In this case it looks easy but before seeing a video it looked tricky. Thank you,
omg!! thank you, thank you..i was about to call the repair man or wishing i didn't need a new stove. Thanks to you i now know which is the main burner. Of course there was a lot of grease build up, so cleaning it, did the trick...You the man!!!!
Thank you!!! I don't have to buy a new stove anymore. My service contract said the pieces had to be replaced and they no longer make the pieces needed. They cancelled my contract, gave me some money for the cancelled contract so I could put that money towards a new stove. But now your tips got my burners working again. No new stove needed. YAY!!!!!
So grateful it worked. I have a five burner stove but only two were functional now all five are working .thanks again for the help.
Thanks so much for the tidbit about checking the small pinhole in the orifice! One of my burners has not been lighting for months. Had cleaned all the parts and was about to take it apart. Took a toothpick to the part you mentioned about spider webs and there was ash! Once i pushed the toothpick and tried it again it lit like a champ! Voila!! Thank again.
Well, I can't believe it! I'm so glad I finally found your words of advice. I had been cleaning everything that needed cleaning for years except the little "spider" hole in the middle which I had never noticed before. I now have 4 working hob ignitions instead of 2. I am so pleased. Thank you.
I love to hear that! Thank you for taking a minute to share. I'm happy that you have all 4 burners back again, have a wonderful rest of the weekend!
You saved me 100 bucks service charge for my home warranty!! Thank you so much!)!!
WOW, Thanks for the tips, Clear instruction. Solved a huge common issues
Thank you so much...you saved me 300 dollars..I cleaned it with toothpick and burner is now working..thank you ..you made my new year!!!!
Awesome!! Glad I could help with that! Happy New Year!!
Did this today and it worked. I had cleaned them before but didn't know about the hole. I got a toothpick, got in there and cleaned it good now its firing up fine. :) saved me from calling a repairman
Thank you! This helped to fix mine that wasn’t igniting. I used a razor blade to clean the slots and had a really small nail on hand to clean above the igniter.
I loved your ideas and did them - what it was for us was more of a knob issue - but my husband sat and kept jiggling it and now it works! We were relieved to hear that if one sparks they all spark - we worried about that this morning and I used a needle to clean out the silver part and rub up and down where the flames come out. On the biggest plus side- from me having to buy a new one my stove starts real quick and works like it was brand new!
Had a burner that would not light, Your answer worked perfectly, Thanks alot.
Very basic info that I didn't know. That little spark hole was clogged so I didn't know there was something that needed cleaning. Thanks!
Great info. Made my burners work again.
Big thanks to the video, i was trying to replace the igniter when I came cross this video. It was that simple ! The small hole was blocked.
Thank you, watching your video, I realized that I forgot to replace the "burner caps". That's why the flame was shooting straight up. Put caps on and good to go.. thanks again.
Glad I could help :) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Omg just cleaning the holes really worked thank you so much
Thank you, thank you ,thank you I thought my stove was over and done and my stove works like new again this video is a life save really helped me 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you. Worked like a charm today on Thanksgiving.
Thank you....this really helped. My issue was the little hole in the brass part below that was blocked. Used a hypodermic needle to unblock it
I will try it soon, but my wife is baking a cheese cake so I have to wait
How was the cheesecake?
@@Murdokstankfoot lmao
Better way
I have just followed this video and my burners now working thank you
Thanks for information... It was a simple fix by cleaning out burner gas hole with tooth pick. 👍🏾👌🏾
Yes, I did follow & yes, it did work! Awesome inputs thanks!
This helped thank you.
My burner didn't have a little hole at the top for the igniter, but running some fine sandpaper folded hotdog style through the vents in the burner did the trick. Cheers mate!
Fantastic! The sandpaper worked. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this simple fix!
You solved my problem. After cleaning, I need to poke a pin in the gas hole, now everything is perfect. No need to call repairman. Thank you!
Great burner advice... and the widest peace sign every shown by human fingers. :)
Thanks, I cleaned the 2 small holes and burner works perfect now.

Thank you so much I was about to cry because I couldn’t fix it it has not worked in two years And today I decided I was going to figure it out and it was that easy who would have known
Thank you. The toothpick worked. Took all of 15 seconds to fix my problem.
OMGGG DEFINITELY HELPED 😁😉😉SOO HAPPY . I thought I broke my stove after another thorough cleaning again but it was just too wet in that 🕳 hole.
Wow, i just had this happen (& my daughter is angry like i broke the stove) if you can tell me exactly what to do 🤔..thank u
Thank you - it worked!
Worked like a charm! Thanks!
Thank you for the quick tip. Our problem was solved by one tiny toothpick! Amazing~

Thank you! It was perfect
Thank you so much for this tip. It worked!!!
It worked!!! thanks to you and youtube we gonna put repair guys ( who reap us off ) out of business YAY. last week i fixed my TV and now stove. 250 $ is warmer in my pocket than theirs !!!
Thanks so much I used a stick pen and it worked right away even better than before I think! Preciate the help. :-) happy New Year!
Worked perfectly! Thanks!!!!
This worked for me! There was a tiny hole in the burner that was clogged up with gunk, exactly like you said. However, I tried to poke it out with a toothpick, and it still wouldn't light up. I then tried to burn the gunk out with a lighter, still didn't work. I ended up just cleaning the burner real good, then I blew the gunk out with my mouth covering the burner (like playing the harmonica). I think soaking it for a while in a degreaser might have helped also, but I ain't got time for that.
Also, there was some gunk just underneath the burner which caused it to not light up evenly. I cleaned it up and now it works perfectly.
OMG! 2 seconds and my stove is working! I never thought it would be this easy. Thank you so much!
THANK YOU! Saved our dinner!
Thank you! This worked for me!
Thanks for this video. I couldn't remve the outer casing to find the small hole due to stripped screws. But i tried the last solution you mentioned (cleaning the orifice) and my two faulty burners fired right up. Thanks!
Thank you. Fixed it fast!
Thank you,,, good advise..
Thank you that fixed it!
