Why is no one talking about the guy playing slides with a beer bottle? That's freaking amazing!!! Not only him, but everybody here did an amazing job with this legend of a song. Congrats y'all, that was awesome!!!
Yeah, that's hard. A beer bottle is big and harder to manipulate. People who don't play slide can't appreciate how hard Joe worked to find the right spots and play. Were there imperfect notes? Yep, but there was also a beer bottle that was still cold and slippery wet as well as people walking in and out from the outdoors on a cold night! We've all fought those tuning issues. With a big living room with most of the furniture gone, I thought "What a perfect opportunity to jam." Bahahahahahaha... Didn't think of that move! If I'd known this video was going to catch on, I would have reached out to Michelob and asked for a sponsorship! :D
Love this song. Many very good memories from my youth!!
Thanks, Jan. I'm glad we could bring back some good memories! I remember when this song came out. What an outstanding piece of guitar instrumentation! I share in that enjoyment.
Love from Britain ⛳
Nailed the guitar solo of my favorite song. I’m guilty of yelling free bird to the bar band back in the day. Great job guys.
Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful
Thank you!
Guys living out every man’s dream
Thanks, @Charlie Soltis! A loaded Les Paul around our necks, and rockin out on a Friday night? Who could ask for more?
I cannot believe that a guy just bumped into the lead mid solo.
Like EXUSCE ME SIR, I AM MID FREEBIRD SOLO!
Came here to see the solo, I am not disappointed THAT SHIT WAS GOOD
Thank you, @Commander Shepard!
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Thank you, @ian90
yup, absolutely flexed on that guy, also, mans on the guitar, waaaaaaaay to calm during all of that solo
Joe is an icon. Great guitar player!
This is a certified Free bird classic
Thank you, @L'acquitrino ! for the comment.
I've used the tube from toilet paper holders many times. I love glass slide but I am constantly losing them because , well, they are made from glass and hard to see. Though the coolest was using a bone handled pocket knife I just happened to have . It was ONE time but somebody took a picture and from then on I was "the guy that plays guitar with a knife" and there was no way i was going to squelch that rumor . Nice job fellas
I worked security for Rick Springfield and he used someone's cell phone (it was a flip phone, this was around 10 years ago) to play slide guitar. it sounded great!
I'd love to see that!
still one of my fav guitar vids ever
Mad respect good sir! Can't imagine the amount of practice it must've taken to pull this off. You guys are awesome!
Thank you, @Mr. Buckcat.
Lovely lovely lovely video
thanks for sharing this
this made my day
@Djungelskog, I'm glad we did. Thanks for listening!
Sigma male grindset is playing Freebird when someone yells it out, and nailing it.
Went from slow dancing with beer in hand to ready for a bar fight real quick
@Jeager Kej, there was a fight that night. Over a female, of course. We have had a fight break out every time we play that club.
@@jimwoodard64 yeah I wonder why lmao free bird just unlocks something in us
You guys are killing it! :)
Thanks. It was rough, but we didn't rehearse that, we just went!
My ears in the intro- but it got better.
DAMN that double solo at the end!!!! Wish it were longer....
@Random Roughneck I do too. I stepped in thinking we would be going longer! :D
absolute legends
Thank you @Mad Man!
Legend says all the rats living in the ceiling began to rotate 360 degrees furiously once the solo starts.
