@@RogerCharlamange Talent is natural ability by definition. It cannot be acquired. holy fucking shit. this should not be humanly possible. note-for-goddamn-note, down to the friggin' timbre. and flawlessly performed. you made that harp WAIL!!!
Absolutely breath taking. People don't understand how difficult it is to play harmonica. As a brass instrument player with lungs of iron, this man is just built different.
I can't even imagine the thousands of hours of study, training, practice, dedication, and sheer drive that you had to put in before turning the camera on, but I can absolutely respect it. Amazing.
I can't believe this is real. And I don't mean it in a “Oh, this must be fake” way, but even if I saw this in a live performance, I would still have a very hard time believing it because of how amazing it is. Bless the algorithm for giving me this video and bless this man for being so fucking good at playing the harmonica.
If you weren't already blown away by how insanely impressive this is... It's NOT a guitar SOLO, it's a guitar TRIO. The three guitarists in Lynyrd Skynyrd TRADE-OFF PARTS to make the "solo" happen, and this guy is ACTUALLY doing it SOLO.
That's actually not correct. The studio version is ALL Allen Collins playing along with himself. Live, Allen and Ed King, or Allen and Steve Gaines would dual on it. But in 1975 when Ed left the group, Allen would do the whole thing himself live, not dualing of course, but just playing a single part from it. Gary Rossington, the 3rd guitarist, plays slide on the main part, then rhythm on the solo part. He's using a Gibson SG that the strings are raised off the fretboard on and the B string also tuned to G. So, he's got 2 strings tuned to G. He's not playing any of the solo on that. :D These days, it's Rickey Medlock and Sparky Matejka that do the solo live. That's not to take away from the incredible talent of this young man playing the harmonica, it's pretty amazing, but just wanted to set some things straight on your comment! Have a good one!
@@maxwell1891 Wasn't trying to disrespect or anything like that! I'm just a massive, massive Skynyrd fan, as well as a guitarist for 20+ years. So I've studied all of this stuff while learning the songs. Just wanted to put the correct information out there is all! :D
It almost sounds like Lynyrd Skynyrd was going to do the solo on harmonica but there wasn't anyone this good at the time, so they had to settle for guitars. You're really bloody good!
As a musician of 25 years, it’s rare that my jaw drops anymore in awe of a performance. Not that I’m that good, but I’ve seen and analyzed a lot of amazing performances over the years. This is f’ing incredible. Hats off bro.
I think we can all say you have mastered the harmonica. I don't think anyone will ever try to dispute that, even if you never do it again. Truly speechless.

Dude passed out after 20 seconds and for the rest of the performance was possessed by the ghosts of Rock Past, Present and Future. Seriously though, this is inhumanly good. You’re a harmonica god!
Nah, he died after 23 seconds, then Lynyrd Skynyrd took over his body, the times he opened his eyes were him re-gaining access to his body, attempting to re-take control.
What blows my mind the most is how similar to the actual electric guitar this actually sounds as opposed to a harmonica doing it from how the pick up must've been tuned on the guitar. Felt like I was listening to my old cd lol!
@@theshawdows here we go with the "anyone who challenges me is a hater or a nazi". Sounded fake to me, ive done alot of recording, that thing has been ran through protracks or something similar dude. Anyone thats every played harmonica knows you cant do that on a harmonica.
This is not just pure virtuosity. It's without a doubt among the BEST, most tasteful and musical harmonica playing I have ever heard, ALONG WITH being a virtuoso performance. I'm thinking through everything I've heard from Toots Thielemans, from Stevie Wonder, from Sonny Boy Williamson, from Blues Traveler's John Popper, and this stands toe-to-toe with every one of those giants. The fact that Will Wilde is available for remote session work is one of the things that makes unbelievable music within reach for indie musicians. The days when you'd have to live right in Nashville or LA to get this kind of talent are behind us. That gives me hope for the future of popular music in a way that Top 40 radio sure doesn't.
I'm pretty sure this video is the reason why we still exist right now and haven't been completely wiped off the face of the Earth by a superior species.

The fact he did it for countless gigs before he recorded it shows that practice makes perfect. The producer Al Kooper thought Collins was so on top of it that he had him double it and the rest is rock n roll history
If I did not read the title, I would've thought it was a bloody clean guitar cover. Absolutely insane, I'm still in disbelief.

Maybe the best harmonica solo of all time.
…on a harmonica with SEAMLESS breathing!
