Electric violin and bagpipes hardly seems like an instrument combo designed for seventies rock but, dang it, you two pulled it off. Had me rocking out.
I agree look at the late Bon Scott of AC/DC he made the bagpipes iconic in rock music. Then Jack Black had to screw it up w he's rendition of that song.
Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington sitting up in heaven with a huge smile on both of their faces at the perfection from you both, you 2 ladies are masters of your craft amd this is now one of my all time favorite videos ever!!!!!
Gary Rossington played slide guitar on the first half of the song, while Allen Collins (who wrote the original riff of Free Bird while he was still in HS) played primary lead (sharing with Steve Gaines) on the guitar solo.
@christopherkohl434 Clarinet? LMFAO!!! You've really never heard or seen a clarinet before? They neither look nor sound anything like the RECORDER she was playing. Some credit goes to the commenter who guessed flute. It's wrong, but the sound is much closer.
never in my wildest dreams would i ever imagine the pipes and an electric violin playing freebird..this was a classic rock masterpiece ..you ladies have done it justice and i would imagine would have made Ronnie proud
OMG! Incredible. As a Scot, I never thought bagpipes could sound like that. Then, put together with that awesome violin sound…as we say in Scotland you both are “Pure dead brilliant!”
These two are superb. It never ceases to amaze and please me to see a wealth of young musical talent put their stamp on classics. Well done ladies, a standing ovation.
Kind of strange...I am all set to watch it and know it will be GREAT! the MiaxAlly combination has been nothing less than beautiful to listen to and to watch their mastery of their individual instruments.
Just saw Skynyrd live a week ago in North Carolina. Great show and thoroughly enjoyed watching you both play this now. Would be cool to see you all play with them some day. Keep rockin'.
@@englishciderlover7347 Still a great band and do Skynyrd justice. Not sure Ronnie would agree with you, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion for sure. Johnny Van Zant actually does an amazing job. Ricky and Michael have been with them over 20 years and the others still quite a while. our whole group loved the concert and had a great time. I would see them again. I for one am not looking for them to break up.
No one said anything about wanting them to break up. But I agree that there's something dishonest, or at the very least inauthentic, about them continuing to call themselves by the original name after all of the original members are not only retired but dead. You know, there are cover bands that are really big, and actually licensed by the original band in at least one case that I know of, and the name they go by is immediately recognizable without being a copy - Brit Floyd. (I think there's another one out there, too, maybe in the USA?) And of course there have been a few different big acts under different variations on Led Zeppelin: Dred Zeppelin, Lez Zeppelin, ... Point being, that seems like a much more genuine and perfectly reasonable way to bill themselves, to just tweak the name a little. If there's anyone who's gonna decline to see them play because the new name makes them realize that all the musicians are subs, then that means those tickets were being sold under false pretenses.
I came here with high expectations having viewed other videos from Mia and Ally. What disappointed me was simple. Three minutes and thirty nine seconds. The first single was 4:41. The album was 9:08. I know it will be hard but please make a longer version. I just didn't want it to end. Thank you for making my day. If I get lucky I'll see you in November.
Fabulous, played with the sincerity of spirit and intent of the Lynard Skynard original, probably one of the finest exponents of Southern Rock there's ever been..
I can't believe I've never heard of you two before now. I LOVE violins and bagpipes, and classic rock. All three together in one exquisite jam session? Absolutely perfect!
These two musicians play off of each other and made this so lively it was absolutely mesmerizing to listen. Tank you for taking the time to make this, brilliant piece of music😊
Unbelievable. What an incredible sound made by 2 amazingly talented Musicians. Electric Violin, Flute and Bagpipes. Freebird will never sound the same again.
Awesome lady's Nice to see our young people enjoy real classic southland music 🎶 keep up the great work you two are doing and don't give up sincerely Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ❤❤❤❤😊
I have NEVER !! thought of another way this song could be played other then with the guitars rocking out .. LADIES !!! … you have shown me a WHOLE NEW WAY !!! … INCREDIBLE !!! 💯🤙❤️🙏💫🦋
Just when I thought I’d seen it all. Bagpipes and violin playing Freebird. The gems you find on RUclips when you’re not really looking. That was amazing. Well done ladies.
... except for the fact that it's an exact note-for-note duplicate, meaning it's kind of the epitome of a cover version, and couldn't be less of a new song, sure. Absolutely, what you said. Is this like the musical equivalent of saying something like "That was so good that it LITERALLY SLAYED ME"? [Btw, just to be clear about this, I am not criticizing them for their perfect cover. It's excellent. I'm busting on the OP.]
Bagpipes are always hauntingly beautiful, from funerals to parades and memories of a chilly evening walk hand in hand with my wife in Stanley Park below the city of Vancouver, BC, the sound of the pipes wafting from a restaurant balcony. Not a big fan of cover songs, especially my classic favorites, but when played by two beautiful ladies as yourselves I loved it. Keep killing it Mia and Ally, it was perfection.
Electric violin and bagpipes hardly seems like an instrument combo designed for seventies rock but, dang it, you two pulled it off. Had me rocking out.
Pipes can work with anything if your good enough
I agree look at the late Bon Scott of AC/DC he made the bagpipes iconic in rock music. Then Jack Black had to screw it up w he's rendition of that song.
@christopherkohl434 thing is Bon Scott really didn't know how to play the pipes. He just learned the basics and winged that pipe solo
One word.....wow
If you like pipes and rock, may I suggest Steve Earle, Copperhead Road.
Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington sitting up in heaven with a huge smile on both of their faces at the perfection from you both, you 2 ladies are masters of your craft amd this is now one of my all time favorite videos ever!!!!!
Yes Ronnie Gary & Allen Approved Blew Me Away & Saw Them Live At The Fox in 76
Mine too! To mix my 70s rock metaphors, The Kids Are Alright !!!!
@@JockoFlocko-b8i And don't forget King, or Gaines either. It was a 2-guitar solo after all, remember.
You know you've struck gold when it literally brings tears of joy to your eyes!
That clarinet intro was awesome. And to hear Rossingtons solo played on the pipes and violin just makes it even better.
Gary Rossington played slide guitar on the first half of the song, while Allen Collins (who wrote the original riff of Free Bird while he was still in HS) played primary lead (sharing with Steve Gaines) on the guitar solo.
@@gregcorwin8316exactly right, well said.
😂😂😂😂 😅
That was a flute

Music is always better when you can see how much the artist enjoys playing
Well done!!! As a long time Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, I love this!! I think Ronnie and Gary would be proud!!! I hope someone tags the band!
Same here ! Grew up listening to Skynard in the 70's ! They Definitely would be proud ! 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I can’t even find the right words to describe this! All I can say is wow!!!!
You two bring out the best in each other.
RUclips algorithm you absolutely delivered on this one and so have you ladies!!!
Great playing! The recording of the pipes sounded really full and excellent this time!
Keep it up Mia and Ally!
OMG! Incredible. As a Scot, I never thought bagpipes could sound like that. Then, put together with that awesome violin sound…as we say in Scotland you both are “Pure dead brilliant!”

I think it would be AWESOME to see them play w/ Skynyrd. Even better in Jacksonville!
Now that nobody from the original band is alive, I think it's time to drop the Skynyrd name.
