- This is an extremely good and simple way to take out Shrieker Lairs at no real expense, since the weapon technically has unlimited ammunition. There are other stratagems that are also great at taking out these lairs like the barrages.

Took me at least six, which is fine in calmer conditions, but when that nest is not line of sight or over a ridge/through spore clouds...oof.

Very. Pair them with an incendiary breaker and shriekers are a non-issue
Laser Cannon is horrible to play vs terminids. It does not make sense to take this weapon just to kill nests. Probably you can shoot with every other long range support weapon and kill it faster or equaly fast.
Laser Cannon quickly becoming a very strong underdog.
Been a big fan of them ever since the Med Armor Pen Buff, it can also kill chargers now and finish off Bile Titans that’s near death. Plus it lasers swarms of hunters and brood commanders on cold planets.
Oh and it can have infinite ammo as well, pairs well with the sickle since you can just switch to one another if you’re close to overheating.
Going full laser strategem build on cold planets is not only viable, it’s downright stupid strong since you can pretty much output near constant DPS on everything that looks funny at you. And since bile titans and charger spawns are replaced by hunters and brood commanders, this only makes crowd clearers even more important on higher dives.

Yay let me take the laser cannon for a specific secondary mission while it’s still terrible elsewhere.
Another RUclipsr talked about this and someone on the comments said that the laser has a range of 200 meters so you don't need to get this close. I tested it and it did work, you can tag the nest to get the distance and go to town far enough to not agro the critters, but you can do it with any explosive weapons or barrage

Seems janky to me. I tried using the laser cannon at about 150m and it would not break it no matter how long I hit it.
Nah, autocannon is the most reliable, easy 400m snipes.
Why not just hit it with the good ole EAT? Does that not work like it does on the spore spewer?

Oh yeah, Shriekers can kill you by impact when they fall out of the sky.

@@orthrusthetoad Really? I've seen clips of people getting slapped by a Titan when it dies, I didn't know players could do the same.
But before I was saying be careful, because I have now also learned Shriekers keep their momentum when they die. So if you kill one that is swooping at you.... Best to dodge in that case.

I also found that the laser cannon is very effective for killing the shriekers themselves. It chops off their wings and kills them almost instantly
Good point. Unfortunately the helldiver laser cannon is still not effective enough to bring on solo ops in my opinion.
@@yeoremuthare677I think certain weapons become more important to bring when talking about group kits. My current group typically runs double EAT so I could just swap to Laser Cannon and focus on AA
@@yeoremuthare677 Definitely for group runs but still pretty strong. Can take out a hulk at distance by ADSing the pilot or backpack. Rocket devastators are easy, 100m+ away. It is great at clearing huge swaths of non-heavy bug enemies. Also great for flappy flying things. Needs no ammo. Not great at short range due to the warm up time.

I tried that a few days ago, shooting two missiles with no luck.
How many EATs does it take to bring the nest down from afar?

It only takes one EAT to take down a single mushroom, but you have to aim it at the right spot (the neck of the plant) and the rockets start to drop over long distances@@WetWater10

It takes 4-5 EATs to take down a Shrieker mushroom
For those who are experiencing crashing - my anecdotal suggestion is to not play with Arc weapons / Tesla Tower. I removed my baby from my loadout and havent experienced a crash today since then.
Devs confirmed that they seem to be an issue
People have reported crashes with nobody in the squad taking either of these, but yes, devs have confirmed that at least most of the time it is these causing the crashes. They said a fix will be released early next week.
I found that the combo of the light armor, guard dog rover and the booster that allows to traverse with ease (the one that has the icon of a leg) are amazing to avoid dying in any bug mission.
Underrated booster for sure.
My problem is the rover will kill your ass entirely on its own in the blink of an eye and it happens constantly… more of a personal shield guy now 🥺
@@V8chump But it cleans all the small bugs and it easily takes down the new flying ones.
@@RyuShinkuuHadoken oh I haven’t tested it against the flying enemies but the small ones are easy to cleanup with most loadouts anyway. Shield just feels much more consistent

I shoot these with the recoiless rifle from 250+ meters 2 shots don't need to get close and I think that laser can do it also from a very long distance
The only problem with that is you have to run the laser cannon...
The auto cannon also works very well, it takes about 10 shots tho

Laser cannon was always good at this. Used it to pop Spore towers from hundreds of meters away.
Yeah but you can literally pop those with your primary. These are a little more hefty in terms of hits.
Hey, StandardAce, huge tip for Shriekers I think you missed. If you go prone they won't hit you. This can be huge if you're getting swarmed by them, so try it out!

i was in a mission earlier today actually running lascannon and expendable anti-tank rockets,
i tried for a few seconds with lascannon and then switched to the EATs because i didn't think the lascannon was working,
guess i just needed to use it for a little bit longer :P
Las Cannon used to have worse armour pen than the machine gun, but since the patch it has equal pen to the Autocannon, making it incredibly versatile. Can even kill hulks with leg or eye shots.
HMG emplacement can also mess these towers up pretty quickly

@@UnknownSquid yeah man, one hmg can get rid of all the towers with ammo to spare. Just last night i managed to get rid of 2 nests that were next to each other with 1 hmg.

No, it's not. Best way to Deal With Shrieker Lairs is use Slug shotgun or Scorcher.
Just two expendable anti tank rounds from across the map will do the trick also.

I just use the quasar cannon. Two shots is enough for each at a significant distance as well

i was really concerned when i dropped 3 500kg's and it still stood. my exact words were "well i dropped 3 500kg bombs on so im out of ideas."
500kg doesn't need a damage buff but it needs a bigger AOE

I haven't been able to play due to crashing. Can the scorcher take them out just like it can take out spore towers?
anything, including normal bullet weapons, can take out the spore towers, whereas it seems like these things are a little bit more armoured and arent as squishy, i havent tried it with the scorcher yet but i'd have to 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 it'd be a lot of ammo for just one spore so you'd probably be better off trying recoilless, EATs or orbital/eagle stratagems on them.
the good thing about these shrieker nests is that they kinda function differently to stalker nests, in my experience, they dont seem to spawn their units until you get close to them, and even when you're in range the shriekers are weirdly really passive until you start shooting them so just pay attention to them while you close the distance and drop some kind of bomb onto the nest.
obviously you can circumvent all this by bringing a recoilless and 2 shotting each spore from hundreds of meters out, or the laser cannon and beaming them from quite far out too.

I use the mech missles. You can pop them across the map. Literally from so far away. Two missiles per hive. I usually only do this on blitz missions though. Missiles are too valuable for the longer missions.

Anyone kicking you for loadout choices is trash at the game. Laser cannon is solid now after the buff. I've run everything on 7+ and everything is Helldive viable...except maybe the Counter Sniper.
I've almost exclusively been running laser cannon + rover. Utility and self defense combo

Will have to try this out. I was able to hit with two shots from a recoiless rifle per "tree", good distance but costly on ammo. Also dropped a laser orbital inside and it prioritized the "trees" over the Shriekers but I had to speed things up with some impact grenades and I was also standing inside the lair.

For those curious it takes 2 rockets from the mech at least the very little I have encountered. So you can pop 2 rockets for each but your ammo will suffer
Laser Cannon is my go-to anyways. No ammo to be wasted, extreme damage output, fast reusability (usually), Cool AF

Would be easier with an auto-cannon is my guess. I can destroy a shroom or Propaganda Tower at 500 metres with it.
I use the Laser Cannon for spore spewers as well, double laser weapons is great against bugs.
Um....that seemed like one of the worst ways to kill those.....standing there helpless while your laser SLOWLY destroys it? Any video I see with people using the laser rifle just makes me ROFL.

I can't help but keep seeing the M41 SPNKr from Halo when I look at the Laser Cannon, can't put a finger as to why though
Expendable anti air can take them out from a billion miles away with one rocket…. Unsung hero I swear. You get two and the cooldown is almost nothing. Super spammable
What avout autocanons or expendatable ATs? Can we use that?
Autocannon takes 9 shots per nest, EAT takes 2 rockets. Autocannon is decent, EAT is not as great since you use the whole ability for one nest.

Honestly Autocanon is probably the best way to go, it takes a few shots but you can snipe the nests from across the map without ever having to worry about spawing in the Shriekers

Autocannon takes 8-10 shots, can be done crossmap and is fairly versatile for anything else up to a bile titan + nests. Not better imo, just another way to do it. Love the balancing.
The autocannon will also kill them in 10 shots from across the map. Quite handy for higher difficulties.

Lmao, ill take the EAT for it. 2 shots and you can hit it from across the map if you account for distance and drop-off. And if you have even one teammate with one it makes the nests almost trivial.
When they swoop down to attack me, they kill me in one shot. How are you surviving?
The laser cannon now is also incredible at taking down the automaton gunships. Just aim for the thruster for not even a second and it goes down. Makes it easy, probably the easiest out of all the stratagems actually.
Alternatively as getting close enough for long is a pain a well placed air strike takes out the cluster as they usually spawn in formations of 3. the 500kg is wonky and oft times does no damage though it can take out one on a direct hit. the 110mm rocket pods can take out one as well.
Probably late to the party but the new Quasar cannon wrecks shrieker nests. It takes 2 shot per ‘tree’ . Sometimes 3 if the game messes with you. It’s not as fast as the laser cannon but the advantage of the quasar cannon is, as long as you can see the nest, you can shoot it. 2 guys with quasar cannon tag team can take a whole nest out in 30 seconds from across the map
Laser weapons and arc weapons need a rework or buff. They just so terrible 😂 y’all just watch one example of it being useful and start an echo chamber

Can destroy hulks in the head easily, melts turret weakpoints, infinite ammo is nice and you don't need to reload, just swap to your primary for a bit. The small laser primary is solid too, I don't know why people hate it. Very good against automaton weakpoints. Laser weapons don't perform as well against bugs, but that's ok

Laser weapons and Arc weapons are great if you know how to play the game. Arc Shotgun is boss vs bugs, Scythe and LAS98 wreck both factions, and if you haven't figured out how strong the Arc Thrower is there's no helping you.
I ran (and posted) a Helldive solo awhile back using the Scythe. Wrecks eggs

Just tried this at long range. 2 heat sinks and did nothing. Not saying I don't believe you but it for sure does not work at long range.
