I'm pretty sure REBOOT was the first completely CGI animated TV series. But I do not know if the software used was proprietary or commercially available. The same company would do the TRANSFORMERS: BEAST WARS series and another toy-centric cartoon from the 90s whose name escapes me.
No jimmy Neutron wasn’t the first series to use cgi. Reboot came out in 1994 which technically should have been included. If you were to say “for kids” then maybe, but no.

Don't forget Donkey Kong Country, the TV show. Though the show was canned after 2 seasons. I'm surprised it even got a 2nd season. Anyway. My self and several others are big fans of the CGI Donkey Kong Country TV show!

Ed, Edd N' Eddy should have been there for being the only cartoon to be drawn by hand every single episode, the specials and even the movie.
Also held the record for longest running CN program (10 yrs) until Ninjago surpassed it in 2022 (11 years). Teen Titans GO! is set to break the record again next year (12 years in 2025).

1. The first fully computer-generated series was Reboot, not Jimmy Neutron.
2. While Toy Story is the first feature film to be made entirely with 3D computer-generated graphics, the first feature film to use all-digital animation was actually The Rescuers Down Under.
3. Sesame Street is not animated. It's live-action with puppets.

@@emmayoung736 Your definitely right on VeggieTales coming before ReBoot, however technically, VeggieTales was a Direct-to-Video (VHS Tapes at release, and evolving into DVD Tech later on ...) mail order show, whilst reboot was aired as a normal television production. If you want to get really technical, and if I am not truly mistaken, ReBoot was Conceptualized in 1990 and had CG designs by 1991. Since the Technology was WAY basic by today's standards, it took till 1994 to get everything designed and detailed in those three years. VeggieTales, by Phil Vischer was conceptualized at some point in 1993 and was put together for its first episode release in December of 1993, but it probably wasn't as hard as a feat to create as ReBoot, based on it's levels of character/world designs and articulation, blah blah blah, im rambling again......

@maruk BECAUSE the articulation of some movements were so good compared to others at the time. You may be underestimating Veggietales for the main cast being anthropomorphic fruits and veggies

I also am autistic! Here's a question: do you really know the meaning behind the puzzle piece symbol? Some people think it means a "cure", "missing part of society" or "they are missing something" but in reality the symbol means the complexity of autism. As someone who is autistic, most non-autistic have difficulties in understanding autism, which makes the symbol more correct for me.

It is pretty childish looking and was chose to mean a missing piece of a brain. The preferred symbol is the infinity which was designed by autistics. (I’m saying this as someone who’s likely on the spectrum)

Totally agree. Most annoying is highly subjective. Velma is a strong contender, but if we all think about it, there’s probably a list of really irritating characters in animation. Cailou, for example.
Actually the oldest known feature length animated film is a 1916 film called Creation that is the first film listed on Wikipedia of animated films predating 1940 and is sadly lost to time. Coincidentally though the director of that film Pinto Colvig did lend his voice to a couple of the dwarves in Snow White. Also Sesame Street doesn't really count as an animated series in terms of the first animated series to feature a deaf character even though there are animated segments imo. It instead should say children's series perhaps. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

LOL, Thank You! I couldn't remember the name of that old Bean Hero Anime (i think that's what the show is about), but it definitely is 8000 episodes plus, and ongoing, still to this day for little children, well.., I think it is still running to this day, since new generational children are apparently always enamored by it, so why not!

The first full length, animated film was actually “The Adventures of Prince Achmed (German: Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed)“, a 1926 German animated fairytale film by Lotte Reiniger. It is also the oldest surviving animated feature film.

I remember seeing that on TV as a kid. They did a re-enactment of "A Christmas Carol". At the end of the story, the animators drew a theater scene: The curtain opens and the cast of characters take a bow as if they had just done a live performance. An original touch to the special.

That budget on tangeled was NOT wasted. It's a good movie in my opinion
My brother has said that Tangled and Princess and the Frog restored his faith in the future of animation. He was going through his moody middle school phase where Disney animation was for babies, but our little cousin brought these films to our house for family viewing. He was absolutely captivated. The animation, the music, the villains - it gave him back the freedom to be silly and joyful that he was losing. These two films are very important to him. They formed a very powerful core memory and an entire island of his personality, if you will.
I'm 57 years old and Tangled is one of my favorite Diseny films, right there with Tarzan and Beauty and The Beast.
As much hate as Scrappy gets, his inclusion in the Scooby Doo is credited with saving the franchise.

DuckTales 1987 did have 100 episodes, and it was across four seasons as stated. Why they used reboot artwork when they're referring to the original series is beyond me.

I believe the difference is that Spongebob is still releasing new content, while Arthur has come to a definite end. They may both still be airing, but one story is over and the other is still being told.
arthur ran since 1996 and ended in 2023 or 2022. Spongebob still has a few more years.

Since they’ve included Japanese animation, “Sailor Moon” precedes “Totally Spies!” by a long shot, making it (to my knowledge) the first animated series with an all-female lead cast (there’s probably an older one, but I’ll stick to what I know)

Clearly they don't count most anime as "cartoons", because many of these would be put to absolute shame.
Some of these maybe subjective or outright wrong, but I think everyone can agree that Scrappy is hated by almost everyone. It's kinda sad because his reputation could have changed if the writers for Velma actually cared about the characters.
"The Simpsons" is (to my knowledge) the longest running WESTERN animated show. "Sazae-san" is the longest running animated series in general, running from at least the late 60s.

No way whoever made this just called spongebob a children's cartoon, while calling FRIKIN DORA THE EXPLORER an animated series! People don't know anything about animation! They're both animated series, but only one is made specifically for kids. DORA. SpongeBob is far from a kid's cartoon! It aired on the main nickelodeon channel, while dora aired on nick jr, which is the only network where nickelodeon airs cartoons for kids.
Spongebob is not the longest runnig out of all cartoons, just the longest runnig children cartoon.

@user-pm9ei3rn8b no. SpongeBob aired on nickelodeon, where they make cartoons for anyone of any age, not just kids. Dora on the other hand aired on nick jr (which is basically the little brother of the nickelodeon network) where they make preschool cartoons. preschool cartoons are the only cartoons made for kids specifically. Not all cartoons are kids cartoons. SpongeBob is one of those that was never really mainly for kids. I can't believe it's been years, and people still can't tell the difference between a kid's cartoon and a cartoon made for everyone. 💀
It also says Dora is the most child friendly cartoon. They’re both made for kids. Dora is just made for younger children. As the first reply to this comment said; Dora was the most translated of ANY animated series while SpongeBob was only the longest running CHILDREN’S animated series. Not the longest running animated series in general.

It's not like that for all cartoons, only some. Yes, kids CAN watch spongebob, but it's not made mainly for them. I know spongebob has a theme song that sounds like a theme song for a kids show, and maybe it was a kids show when it was first being made. But it definitely isn't anymore. Fun Fact: For those who keep Praising "Toy Story" as Pixar Studio's first CGI movie, well, Some of the Pixar studio Founders, who had left Lucas-Films in the early 1980's (Probably after Star Wars:Return of the Jedi, released in 1983) made the short film "Luxo Jr" in 1986, experimentally, with the animated table lamp (I guess, eponymously named Luxo jr) you see jumping around at the begging of Toy Story and most of their movies, as a homage to their start to CGI cinema technology!
It's not full-length, though.

I don't know why but I feel so proud of these characters/shows: Bluey, I keep telling my siblings it's the best show their pathetic generation has but they won't listen to me; Phineas and Ferb, on God, I love these brothers to a fault, we still recite the exact routine of the show in my family till today; Bugs Bunny, my favorite cartoon character of all time, he just keeps breaking records and I love it.

@enguelberthbernal5341 Josie McCoy was first introduced in Archie Comics in 1963
She was joined by The Pussycats in 1969 and they then got their own animated series, Josie & The Pussycats in 1970 which became Josie & The Pussycats In Outer Space in 1972.
Jem and She-Ra were both introduced in 1985.
Longest running Cartoon Network Series:
Lego Ninjago (2011 - 2022) 11 years, 15 seasons
Teen Titans Go! (2013 - current) 11 years, 8 seasons
Ed, Edd, N Eddy (1999 - 2009) 10 years, 6 seasons
What's interesting is that Ed, Edd, N Eddy and Teen Titans Go! use the typical release of one season every year and a half and then rely on reruns while the next season is in production; but Ninjago rarely had reruns because its purpose was to advertise playsets. Each new season was done in fairly rapid succession to push the new set, with multiple seasons airing each year. So while it's currently tied in age with TTG and will likely be surpassed next year, Ninjago definitely wins out in terms of content. It's also worth noting that while Ed, Edd, N Eddy is beat out by both other shows in quantity, it's at least tied with Ninjago in quality (my kid brother was 5 when Ninjago began, so I've watched along with him his whole life and really have to say, it's an absolute banger). All three are record setters in their own ways, which is worth analysis.
