Fun Fact: Not only is South Park the first cartoon to hold the world record for the most characters, but it’s also the first cartoon to hold the world record for the most swear words. The oldest animated cartoon is not Fantasmagorie. in 1892 there is a 15-minute long short french animated cartoon called Pauvre Pierrot created by Charles-Émile Reynaud. It's currently lost media, with only 4 minutes of the cartoon being ever found.
It's debatable since there is a lot of other cartoons out there that could be better. I agree though since there's so many different styles of animated especially with the characters
The Simpsons is the longest-running cartoon in the U.S., but not in the world. The world's longest-running animation is Sazae-san, a Japanese anime that it's running since 1969 and with +8000 episodes. It won the Guinness World Record in 2013 for being the world's longest-running animated series.
I think Scrappy-Doo is a great character, and I hated the fact that he was made the main villain of the first live-action Scooby-Doo movie, still not happy about it. I'm a big fan of Scooby-Doo, been a fan since I was a kid. I can kind of understand why people might hate Scrappy, but only a little, since I love Scrappy. I feel like there are cartoon characters that are much worse than him like Dora the Explorer and Caillou. The show "Velma" does look very bad. I do like "The Simpsons," "South Park," The Flash, and Mickey Mouse. I think "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy" is a nice show too, and "Bluey" seems real nice as well. I also find it cool that Rick and Morty were originally going to be based on Doc Brown and Marty from "Back to the Future," I love that trilogy and I have copies of a three of those movies.
