Khuzait heavy horse archers Imperial legionaires (or sturgian veteran infantry) Battanian archers Play this army defensively with horse archers harrassing after the enemy cavalry have been killed by the archers, it's unstoppable.
Ive been just playing a Battanian campaign, knocking off a lot of Forest Bandit camps & Sea Raider camps using Battanian troops. I picked up a lot of prisoners. By the time I finished upgrading them I had an Army that just wrecked the Sturgians, Massive Bow volleys, Javelins & fast infantry.
Ranged Weapons are too overpowered in Bannerlord, since the Arrows/Bolts seem to ignore a large amount of the Armor scale. I will explain you the physics and you might hopefully understand my thoughts. An arrow weighs around 30g and a usual hunting bow / composite bow shoots with a maximum speed of 80-90 m/s. The force at the highest speed would be around 90 Nm (Joule). This force wouldn't be able to pierce through steel. Probably it would just leave a small mark or would be deflected. Only a longbow with a draw weight of over 100 pounds and heavy arrows would reach the force to pierce slightly through. Sadly even then the arrow had to pierce through a chainmail armor and gambeson under the plates. Crossbows would also do the job, but only the heavy ones. I'm using a mod called "Armor does something" to balance this issue out. Otherwise high tier troops are basically worthless and get shot down by tier 2/3 archers.
Once you progress far enough down the Rogue skill tree, you can unlock Merry Men: enabling you to recruit bandits instead of fight them. The best part about Forest Bandits: they upgrade into Fians. Disciplinarian in the Leadership skill tree unlocks this, but if you don’t want to wait that long, you can just throw them in a garrison. Castles and cities will upgrade them for you, as if they had the disciplinarian perk even if you don’t. Forest bandit bosses are going to be rare though, for sure.
This is something that also happened on the other Mount&Blades. The IA has armies with real large numbers but many of them are just basic units or just units with one upgrade. It would be nice if the counts-kings armies had really upgrade troops making them something to fear.
I think Battanian Fian Champion would make a hilarious video, they're insane, so you can face them against some ridiculous odds! People have started called them medieval railguns for a reason
Thank you for putting it on realistic. It would of been interesting seeing this vid pre forest bandit nerf, nothing like bushwackers with 80 bow skill to destroy armies.
My strategy is to stock up on food and have stacked engineering. And try to draw out a long siege haha. If you can dominate the siege equipment battle especially trubuchets . You get the advantage of the siege. Take down the walls with trebuchets and a battering ram and siege tower isn't even needed anymore haha.
The best thing about forest bandits is that, as you can see in the troop trees, the Forest Bandit troop can be upgraded into the Fian line and eventually turn into the fian champions
Splitting up a large force of units normally just ends up destroying the AI in this game. Generally the AI doesn’t split up their forces and stay in one clump so if you have like 2-3 different groups of archers or units in general you can flank, circle, box in all their units and they kinda just get eviscerated. Also if one group gets pushed you can pull it back whilst the other groups get free shots, if they then try and swap targets you stop running start shooting them again whilst the next group runs away from them. Good spacing is so important in this game, done right you can kill off entire armies without losing a man
Nice improvements to the series! Wish you had just taken the one more step to Battanian Fian Champions. Wanted to see the absolute massacre with those archers! They're nuts.
You should do a all heavy cav army. It would also be interesting to use every cultures best heavy cav and look and how many kills and deaths each type gets.
