Frank gore was monster as a freshman still got carries with Portis putting up big numbers. Think he had 900 yds rushing that year. And filled in for portis against Boston college
People don't know how fast and explosive Frank was before the two knee injuries. He was still a great player after them, but I can only imagine how great he would've been of he never got hurt at Miami. His prime years in the pros unfortunately get forgotten because the Niners sucked so bad for his entire first 5 seasons, nobody really got to see him play unless you were local; but being a Niner fan from the Bay I got to see him play in his prime every Sunday and he was a great all around football player, very patient, had power and explosion, and a very shifty style with great feet and balance, he's always chopping his feet and rolling off of contact which made him a very hard tackle, also was a very good pass catcher and amazing blocker
@@sf49ersjshark2 He was literally the entire offensive production lol stacked 8 in the box every game and he still came through. My favorite is Garrison Hearst though, I think he's one the most talented backs we've ever had, but the injuries derailed him
He will. But his stats are just ok. 2 receptions per game .ok 4.3 yards per carry. Ok 16000 yards, that's 1000 per yr. Ok I don't see the numbers to Justify H O F
Those Miami teams were stacked in the early 2000's. I know everyone says Saban is the best recruiter, but I think Butch is. He had those teams so stacked that they played in back to back title games when he left for the NFL. Imagine if he had stayed at the U instead.
@@MrBmick79 I don't think they would have won as many, because many of the really elite talent they are getting is from Florida, like Amarri Cooper and Derrick Henry. I am sure Butch would have gotten most of that talent.
@@haroldransom8043 I miss when the best players from Florida stayed in state. Would love to see The U Back on top again. Schnellenberger and Jimmy were gamblers, and Butch to a certain degree. First ballot HOF. Frank Gore spent his career with almost all bad teams. He does everything right and always get positive yards and those little tough yards. He gets too. Really hard to get those yards now.
People forget how good Frank Gore was coming into Miami. True freshman had Clinton and Willis on the bench behind him. I know you’re not supposed to view someone getting injured as a positive but if it wasn’t for that those dudes wouldn’t have had the opportunity to shine
I KNOW Who WAS DEFINITELY The BEST Miami running back EVER! I say Willis McGahee! JUST think about it, Willis McGahee was the third string running back the year they won the national championship! That's HOW deep Miami's backfield was! Not to mention Clinton portis , najee davenport, and Frank gore!
Brett Favre n Steve McNair from Mississippi Clint you can't forget bout those guys Archie Manning and his wife technically Cooper Peyton and Eli are Mississippi boys just born in New Orleans because they dad played for the Saints

Miami and USC don't need to look for their best 22 they can field a team from their national championship years. If Miami fields their best 22 the defense might score 3 TDs.
Helluva game I will go Alabama tho. Nick Saban has surpassed all of Miami’s history with just his tenure with Alabama. 6 Championships to 5. Not to mention Alabama was good 70s-early 90s already. Alabama is better at the offensive and defensive lines, and better coach.
