Probably because he left the Colts before they won the Super Bowl and then lost the Super Bowl with the Cardinals. English is probably not your first language but it's Colts and you mean trading Marshall. I believe the Colts wanted to keep Marshall but i believe he was the one who wanted out of Indy and that force the Colts to trade him to ST Louis. Everything workout for both teams. In the 99 draft it was a two way tie between him and Ricky Williams who the Saints traded everything just to draft him. Ricky although was a superstar when he gotten the chance wasn't in it as much as Edge. Which is why Edge is going to the Hall and Ricky isn't.

He was a no nonsense RB that didn't care. Thats why they won the Superbowl with Addai and made another with him and not with James. Jojo Addai wouldn't mess around. The Colts had a 25 year old running back in 1998 coming off a season with 2,227 yards from scrimmage who had racked up a total of 8,124 yards and 51 touchdowns in his first 5 years in the NFL. They traded him for a 2nd and 5th round pick and then took Edgerrin James 4th overall in the 1999 NFL draft. That decision was mind numbingly stupid but James was so good that it didn’t even matter. He ran for over 1,500 yards as a rookie and went for more than 2,100 yards from scrimmage. There was no sophomore slump. He lead the NFL with 1,709 rushing yards and 2,303 total yards in 2000. After missing most of 2001 he then accumulated over 1,300, 1,500, 2,000, 1,800, 1,300, and 1,400 total yards in each the next 6 seasons. The Manning, Harrison, and James triplets have a very strong case for the best ever. Offensive triplets are only a great as their weakest member and every other trio has at least one member who doesn’t measure up to either Manning, Harrison, or James.

All of the greats had at least one special/unique quality that helped set them apart. The thing that I noticed about Edge that was different than Sayers, Payton, Brown, Sanders, Smith, Jackson, Simpson, Campbell, Tomlinson, Peterson, ect...is that he could run laterally and also in reverse. Wow, he always amazed me with that. Phenomenal.

Edgerrin James is a Hall of Famer who was the most dominant running back in NFL history. He was the most underrated back of all-time.

I remember watching him against UCLA. The Bruins were undefeated something like 10-0 or 11-0 and James beat them single handed. After that game I knew he was destined for greatness.

Zero weakness in Edge's game. He lost a little bit after the injury, but was still HOF good after it. He could've been the GOAT if not for that injury. What I don't hear people talk about enough is that legendary stiffarm. He was one of the best at that I've ever seen. Also, just his absolute ability to keep a play going. He'd almost always get an extra yard or few by putting his hand on the ground to stay up for an extra second. Dude was so hard to bring down.

First saw Edgerrin play live when he went up against my UCLA Bruins squad back in 1998 when all we needed to do was win that game to be able to play in the national championship that year. The game was supposed to be played earlier in the year but was postponed due to the hurricane in Miami at the time. Edge ended up rushing for 299 yards and led the hurricanes to one of the biggest upsets (and crushing losses if UCLA is your team ☹️) of that decade. They could not stop that dude. It didn’t even seem like he was trying that hard. His style of running was incredibly smooth and elusive. One of the best decisions the Colts organization ever made was taking him over Ricky Williams, even though Ricky turned out to have a pretty good NFL career. It was almost as great a draft day decision as when they took the other guy in this Hall of Fame class over Ryan Leaf.

He was one of the best pass pro backs I've ever seen. Late in his career when he lost some speed, he'd get at the line and still be able to fall forward for 3 yards.
