Great build and piece of engineering!!!! Thank you for the olive oil tip - building mine at the moment and despite careful sanding & waxing, it was binding on the escapement mechanism. I little brush with olive oil on the teeth and now it works a treat :o) :o). :o) Always thought that wax (although good) was a little thick and sticky to provide smooth running.
Great tip! Thank you! Now I have only one issue left: the mechanism of the balance spring stops after a few turns. The tourbillion moves well, it just stops all the time. Even after moving the levers it didn't work and I'm running out of solutions. Any ideas?
How long has your clock run continuoulsy? Mine runs about 2 hours and a little more. Yes, it is a beautiful kit with wonderful design features. I will try your oil tip. Thanks
I wonder if the oil might eventually cause the wood to swell up, even slightly. I think I will buy the cheapest kit of these types that I can find and experiment with different lubricants, maybe a drop of CA on each gear tooth would seal it and make it hard and then it could be lubricated with whatever without having the lubricant soak into the wood.
Just about to start mine, I made a marble run at Christmas, very pleased with them, very clever, good and accurate. I will try the oil trick, will any brand do or does it have to be Napolina??!! Or double pressed oil?!
I am sceptical about ordering this clock. I assembled the dragon yesterday .While everything was working perfectly in the last winding something cracked in it's center and it stopped... I was so disappointed. I am afraid that if I disassemble it , half of it's parts will break.
My model could work only about 30 minutes and then stops. I push it to work, again 30 minutes and stop. I've been trying for a whole year to figure out what the problem is, but I haven't been able to.
Hi, My 12 year old son built this and is stuck on the last part where it's works for 25 seconds and then gets stuck. He is not having the same issue as you did with the peice sticking out. I'm wondering if you could help him? Thank you. Aron

ur voice is perfect for a documentary
Wax is the correct lubricant. The olive oil will get tacky, attract dust, and eventually stop the mechanism entirely.
I wonder if a silicone based lubricant would be suitable?
It'll also go rancid and smell

Just a suggestion, you could stop the clock and show us the problem part and then let the clock go. Great job on the clock though.
thanks mate!

I need this clock. I hate being late.

triple pressed haha... honestly its just any of your kitchen oil

In answer to the many questions on how long it goes for mine runs for about three hours before needing winding
Does'nt the olive Oil smell after some time?
I ordered the same Clock, can't wait to assemble it.
no. the oil has not created any odor at all. glad we can be clock buddies!
Great Job ! How Much Do These Costs .
Merci beaucoup l'Ami !

Does the oil get rancid though?
It will get tacky and as it does, dust and hair will stick. It eventually cease to function. Wax is the correct lubricant.
Nice Grandad
i like it 👌
How long can they run? Wonder what the record is.
2-3 hours.
3:23 ... um, yes, stopping it would be a good idea...3:48.. no, I can't see it!!
Where can I get the drawing for it to laser cut it myself ?

How does it run off batteries or wind it up
wind up mechanism with a spring, like any mechanical watch
