In the late 1970's there was a 55 mph speed limit nationwide due to the "gas crisis." It was repealed shortly after the video came out, but the video had nothing to do with it-Americans were just fed up with the speed limit.
Back in late 80's and beginning of the 90's my grandparents, Aunt's and Uncle's lived in Chicago while I lived Michigan, My mom and dad would wake me and my 2 brother's up around 4am just to start the boring long slow drive to Chicago. We left our house around 4am we didn't arrive to my grandparent's house until at least 1pm in the afternoon.
