I can so relate to this and I'm sure so many young LGBT people can, and I wish RUclips existed for me when I was coming out to myself, and my friends, and my family. I was raised religious, Catholic, and it had real, detrimental effects on how I viewed myself and other people like me. I could ramble forever but I'm so proud of you for making this video and giving your thoughts.

Alex, you have just explained SOOOO MUCH to me! I have a 24 yr old son; he's straight, but has been annoyed with me and jus Dad for years. Recently, he unleashed a verbal tyrade at myself and his father, judging every decision we made as parents. It broke my heart and totally confused me. I stayed in bed and cried for a week. I realize now, after watching you, that he has some built up animosity towards us, bc we were better parents for his younger brother and sister...I know that. When we know better, we DO better. I also realized that he loves us, and always will, and I am sure that he will work past it in time, if we just keep loving him, and are patient. I have no idea how I came across your channel, and I know this video is old, but I feel like I was led here, so that I could see and understand something on a much deeper level. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Because you were brave enough to be vulnerable, I now understand and can let go of the confusion and guilt, and focus on all the beauty of all that God has gifted ME with. YOU, Sir, are a beautiful soul, and a courageous world changer, and I am sure your parents know that better than anyone. You are obviously one soul who was sent here to wake others up to the fact that judgement is futile, and that LOVE is all that matters. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. This video absolutely breaks my heart. I HATE that "coming out" videos have to be a thing. I HATE that people have to be afraid to "come out" to their parents, friends, and co-workers. I HATE that people cannot be accepted for how they are. It absolutely kills me. This video shows the distance that society's expectations can cause a person to put between the people he/she loves. It's not okay that people feel like they have to commit suicide because they are different. It's just not okay that people we love have to go through this.
I pray for a different world every night. I pray for a more accepting society. That is what I believe that my God would want. ❤️

I don't think Sexuality is a very big deal but people make it a big deal. Your parents know and love you for who you are and they always will because blood is thicker then water. Sometimes people try to see things from your perspective and they get it wrong and maybe they wanted you to tell them when you're ready to. Mamas. Let me tell you something about Mamas. They will love you unconditionally. Yeah, she's realized that the I love yous haven't been coming. She's also realized that everything's gonna be okay. Alx, everything's gonna be okay. I'm 16 now and I was so afraid to come out because I'm Catholic. It's so hard for me to go to church because I feel the tension because nobody will talk to me in my own church anymore. God loves everyone and I know that, but sometimes I get scared because what if he doesn't? I've tried to push myself to be straight, but no I can't hide that anymore. Still to this day I hide from everyone. But I love you so much Alx. I'm beyond happy you did this and so many people love and support you. God Bless you.

Hi, I'm a practicing gay Catholic myself and I want you to know that if anyone treats you differently for being gay it's against God. As Catholics, we believe that being gay is absolutely okay. In the catechism it even says this. Catholics are supposed to be allies.
See I didn't know that and growing up I didn't even know being gay was a thing. I used to even judge it myself and then Freshman year of high school that all changed. I liked a girl all of a sudden and I thought something was wrong with me. But I dated her things didn't go as planned whatever, but I'm still bisexual. The sad thing is, is that I don't even go to church anymore because of these people. My own grandma doesn't know I'm bi, because if she did I'd be living in a box. Her words. But I hope God will shed some light

You put so much truth in it and emotion, i support you all the way. my family is christian but we don't think being gay is a sin, because that is who you are and its awesome you chose to embrace it. Don't let people say gay is bad, it's not and it isn't a choice it's who you are. I love this. This video is not like every other coming out video, not that I don't like them any less, but this was not about the coming out. This was about how this has influenced Alx and how he realizes how he has been treating himself and those around him. He acts on it and I cannot be more proud of him and everyone who has come out or is planning to.

Me too because I'm a Catholic and my parents are serious and they don't approve of being gay and they think it's a bad thing and they don't hate gay people but they think it's some bad thing but I don't want to be that way. But I totally relate to all the things regarding your parents. I understand it. You're born a square peg and everybody else seems to be a circle. I'm not a religious person but I do believe some sort of being(s) is out there. Whoever they might be I think that they will accept people for who they are, gay or not. Or whatever the case may be. For me, my brother and two of my friends know I am bisexual and they are all fine with it. I can't and won't tell my parents cause my mom has drilled it into my head that 'you can't like both'. I have struggled with this for nine years and still have barely accepted it. For anyone who does decide to come out, you are a STRONG and BRAVE person. It's obviously a hard thing to go through, but everyone should be themselves and love who they want to love. No one should hate themselves for who they are. Being straight should not be the default thing to go to, kids should be taught it's okay to be straight, gay, bisexual, pansexual, etc. No one should be taught to think they are broken.

You can not take everything in the Bible literally. It takes guidance to interpret it because you have to consider the time period, different word meanings of that time, culture, context and much more. Although I don't agree that the meaning changes, I believe the meaning was always something different than we are making it out to be. I wish people would stop being so intolerant and just love everyone. This is the most important thing we can take from the Bible.
