My beard was always really patchy. At 23, I found your videos and decided to get on self-improvement. A month in I noticed that my beard was starting to fill in noticeably more than it ever had before. I think it's because a lot of the self-improvement habits also help increase testosterone levels which in turn helps beard growth

It’s not so much high test it’s high conversion rate into DHT the main factor and influence into facial hair growth.
I have 848ng/ml the higher end of the natural scale and whilst I have a full beard it’s not thick (neither patchy) it’s all genetical some people will have low test and covert lots to DHT and full thick ass beards haha.
The people who grow really thick beards generally go bald early as it’s also DHT that increases hair loss and many other factors of course.

Hamza, I think what you are trying to talk about is called epigenetics. Which is basically "the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work. Unlike genetic changes, epigenetic changes are reversible and do not change your DNA sequence, but they can change how your body reads a DNA sequence."

      @@Tristan_Tate u prosperx?

    • @cookieking1996
      @cookieking1996 2 года назад +52

@@Tristan_Tate nope. The amount of testosterone in your body doesn’t dictate how receptive your facial hair is to growing.
      Allow me to elaborate:
In order for physiological effects to occur in our body, we must have two things, the signal chemical (like hormones) and receptors to accept the signals. In the case of facial hair, we already know that the responsible pairings are androgen receptors and Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. In the face, androgen receptors promote hair growth and in the scalp, they do the opposite. Both of these are affected by genetics. DHT is converted by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. Both enzymes and receptors are types of proteins. Proteins are dependent on gene expression. If the gene is expressed then the receptors and enzymes will be synthesized. Of course, we know now that gene expression is affected by things other than just DNA like environmental factors.
In other words, DHT is a big reason for that. Beards need DHT to develop and reach their full potential. In most cases, lower levels, or lower sensitivity to this hormone leads to less beard growth.
So, again, follicle receptivity and DHT synthesis - not the lack thereof of hormonal testosterone that’s present in your bloodstream - is what determines beard vitality. We can deduce, therefore, as to why there are plentiful guys with huge testosterone levels who can’t grow beards, like me.

Agree with everything in this video. I personally would say the key principles are:
    1) Trim, not shave. Use scissors or a trimmer.
    2) Loose weight (if overweight) and/or put on some muscle (if skinny). It raises your testosterone levels which really helps.
    3) Use minoxidil on troubled spots (i personally do not use it, but did a couple years before for hair loss, did help a lot. But ultimately i decided to accept my baldness and change the haircut)
    4) Choose the best style of beard that suits your hair growth pattern. Sounds obvious but not that many guys do it.
    5) Increase blood flow to the troubled areas. There are a lot of ways to do it, but most of them leave temporary marks (such as needle rollers etc.). Maybe try slapping your face in the evenings, it might help (not sure about that one, but it helped some of the guys i know)

    • @canelo1728

There are some worst case side effects like you can get impotent. Many people also say it's hard to stay on the pills for the whole life. But I can't tell you from my experience as I did not decide to take them ever.
But I guess you can try them out while doing regular blood work at the doctor so you can exactly see what changes inside your body and if it's safe for you to continue.

Genes do play a big role tbh, I'm only 18 with a beard that's almost full, I started shaving every 2-3 days when I was 16 because it grows back rly fast. And my dad always blamed me for shaving my beard since I was 14 assuming that's the reason for my beard growing while he's standing there with prob one of the best beard genetics. Even tho he always shaves it of, he can literally grow his beard up to his eyes, no patches at all, rough dark hairs and he's telling me that the reason I have a beard now is because I always shaved 🤣.

The outlook you have on genetics is interesting nonetheless and there have been studies on this, it's called epigenetic. Honestly i don't know if it's true or not, but believing that discipline and hard work can also improve your "gene expression" is only beneficial.

I sleep at least 8 hours most nights and drink 3 litres of water everyday. I can’t grow a beard at all.
My cousin is 20. He “works” for his mother but he rlly doesn’t do much, he spends all his spare time watching anime and playing video games, he rarely leaves the house and gets nervous talking to everybody. The man eats McDonald’s several times every week and he loves to drink rum and whisky. My cousin has the most full beautiful beard. Life ain’t fair.

    Constructive Criticism:
Hamza you don't understand what discipline is,
"If you love it it's not discipline, it's instant gratification"
No if that's how that worked then you should stop doing what you love and move on to something harder like working at Wendy's.
Discipline is doing something whether you like it or not.
"Oh your not disciplined because you like the gym now" that makes zero fuckin sense
That is still taking responsibility and growing your future self.
Discipline is the action you take to fulfill a certain purpose that you have.
You can like being a soldier that doesn't make you any less disciplined.
And no your beard has nothing to do with the amount of responsibility you take on.
While the message is optimistic it goes to delusional levels.
Not trimming your patchy beard is the only solid point you have here.
There are plenty of successful people that have no beards, the underlying message behind your video simply makes men feel insecure about themselves.
"iF yoU dOnT hAve a beArD tHen yOu diDnT tRy iN LiFe"
    Say that to...
    Mohammad Ali
    Mike Tyson
    Kobe Bryant
    Arnold Schwartzneggar
    Kanye West
    Kendrick Lamar
    ....
Do I need to go on?
Facial Hair is a mechanism men have to yes look more attractive but it is to also keep them warm.
If you live in colder regions you are more likely to grow a beard.
That's why most Vikings had beards while most Red Indians didn't.
Both tribes had extremely strong, masculine and responsible men.
You are not a better man for having facial hair.

Science is correct that you can’t make your beard grow any fuller than your genetics allow, but most people haven’t experienced the maximum beard that they can grow for a few reasons.
    >Eat healthier, it will raise testosterone
    >Hang around men more than women, it will raise testosterone and lower estrogen
    >Wash your face often and remove dry skin, it will allow your beard to grow through
    >Shave your beard often, it will grow back at an angle and appear darker and fuller
Do this for 2-3 months and you will start to see what your beard ACTUALLY looks like, then you can declare whether or not you can actually grow a beard or not.

The point you made about how genes don't have to necessarily determine something, and can be turned on or off, is so true. It sounds wishy-washy but it's true. You can see this all the time for example if you, your father, your grandfather and 3 generations before him had a predisposition to certain disorder caused by genetics but not every one of them got it, even tho they had the genes to have the same disorder. The only difference for them was the environment. (Maybe not the best example but idk if you don't believe I don't blame you)

If your father, grandpa or even your mother's father had one it will eventually come out.
He is indeed correct that the enviorment influences how genes manifest, but keep in mind that when your beard comes out is also determined by genetics , not only by enviorment.
Hamza's point about "your beard comes out only when you start to become a man is kinda stupid" and to me seems to come from observing a direct corelation where there really is none. Most men start having a full beard in their late teens-early twenties, which is also the time when most men reach physical maturity and more responsability is imposed on them from society(move out, get a job, go to uni, etc). If you are 15 you most likely won't be able to grow a full beard until late teens, no mater how hard you lift, clean you eat or how much you improve.
It is really sad because I mostly agree with Hamza and he has very insightful things to say, but lately it feels like he has been pumping videos with no care about quality and he should be held accountable for it, as a lot of young men look up to him for guidance, and just spewing random shit for views ain't a good thing.
And because I know some will feel the need to comment "I am 16, on self improvement and have a full beard",
3 of the people with the nicest beard, that they had since 9th grade were and still are some of the biggest manchildren I have seen. You cannot generalize based on persobal experience.

I'd say going to "battle" definitely helped grow my beard if what your saying is true. I had a full beard at 19 that grows quicker then any other male in my family, when I was growing up it's about the only masculine thing I was doing, fighting other groups with my group of friends at party's or just out and about getting into beefs that would last year's and get more violent as time went on. So I was always looking over my shoulder waiting to get jumped or worse even stabbed, all the other shit I was doing was pure degenerate smoking quid and beating of the meat, playing video games etc. Yes I know the fighting in groups blah blah is degenerate too but it activates the pride of a man and the will to choose fight over flight even against a group of enemies so you wouldn't be the one to bring shame onto you and your friends. These life and death moments turned me into a man without a doubt. I've been jumped I've been snuck up on and king hit from behind, knives and guns pointed at me all multiple times while least expecting it never did I run. Always ten toes down. Some will say I'm stupid and I know I could have lost my life but at the time I didn't care.... I got 2 kids now so I got something to live for but back then I really couldn't care less

Partly is genetics and partly is increasing test levels = better beard. I had a full beard by 19, had 0 facial hair at 16 till I joined gym, within 3 years full beard. Also supplements help but number 1 is test levels. Heavy squats, deadlifts etc helped me a lot for sure. For supplements castor oil is a good natural one, or if you're desperate you can always apply minoxidil. It's really about letting go and not focusing on growing a beard, it'll come just keep doing you. The more you attach to something = more you put it on pedestal = more seperation from it = more time to achieve it.

Ngl I don't think the gym was the main reason why you got a beard, I think its because you got older.
I'm not saying it doesn't play a part but come on bro. A lot of guys can't grow facial hair at 16, but will manage to grow one at 19, regardless of whether they sit in their house all day and watch youtube or go to the gym and workout

    • @AnasChouaibi
      @AnasChouaibi 10 месяцев назад

As I said it's partly genetics & partly increasing test levels - never said main reason was the gym. You can go look at the studies correlated to test levels & beard growth. The rate at which it will grow & thickness. So before kids/teenagers who go and start taking supplements for beard growth or oils or whatever, go do heavy compound lifts, take cold showers, see the sunlight, socialize, see more women, etc... then think about supplements. That's the point.

Its not complete coincidence Hamza. Men in higher positions of responsibility have traditionally been at higher levels in the social hierarchy. Taking on more responsibility may lead to more risk taking which leads to high social status, which then leads to high testosterone.

Let me spare you eleven minutes: genes, time, and aging. If you're in your late teens and early 20's, beards are a non-factor. Especially if you have a decent jawline. There is no reason any young guy should walk around with patches on his face in the "hopes" that it will get thick enough to force into a beard. Girls in their late teens and early 20's like clean-shaven faces. While the outliers with beards are getting hit on by 35 year olds. Keep your face clean and enjoy it. You will know you can grow a beard when you grow a beard! Simple.
