    "And then, as usually happens in our field, ILM did it first." :))) That line broke me. It is the first time I hear about you guys, but really really great work! As a romanian, it feels close to home to see you italian guys do such amazing things. I think this could really be a great innovation in filmmaking. Keep up the great work! Be sure to check some of the movies you have worked on.

    Actually LED walls are not the end of the green screen. LED walls are just another tool for certain shots.
    You can in fact have a Virtual Production with a green screen for most cases and have full environment integration.
    LED tech is new but not the technique itself, even 90 years ago they were projecting backgrounds while driving cars.
    As soon as Unreal Engine and all related technologies improve latency on green screen real time keying, LED walls will take a secondary roll once again.

    • @m4ster_root
      @m4ster_root 3 года назад +3

      No? Even with real time keying you'd still have lots of green light to correct and no natural reflections. With use of a green screen you're also limited to a monitor for the final result, where LED screens shows a larger part of the scene than you're recording.
      Nothing keeps you from utilizing both technologies as green screen does have its uses where LED screens simply won't work. But you'd have to remember, as real-time keying and color correcting improves, so will LED screens!

    We're building a business at the moment, and planning to use LED walls for stationary virtual backgrounds for interview scenes. Can you give me a clue of what to aim for when it's come to LED wall building? I kind of guess that the smaller pixel density is the better, but is there any kind of density that is ok and not too overkill if our actors are placed in front of the wall in about 1-2 meters? So we can cut some costs.
    Thank you! Your answer is highly appreciated!

    I really hope that the costs of these tiny led panels will decrease drastically. Those systems are REALLY expensive and it seems that NO ONE in the industry wants to talk about it.
    After doing some thorough research I found out that the average price per a half square meter is still around €3500,- and that is only the panels!
    May I ask you: how did you pull this thing off? Were there sponsors, are you rich ;-) or was there some other funding? I cannot get my head around how some people do this, for I really want to do this too - in some way, but I don't know where to start.

  • @weareyourtest6029

      That is different, tv didn't improve on radio, it's a different thing. LED wall to green screen is like movies with sound to silent movies. Do they still make silent movies? No, because movies with sound improve on silent movies. Like the letter example, we don't send them anymore because e-mail improved them, but why put a tv in your car when you would still just listen to it.

    The problem with the LED walls is when the actor needs to interact with the environment such as doing jumps, or some other acts that need more than a surface to project your background on, I prefer the real-time green screen solution with unreal engine it gives more possibilities to do complex movements interacting with objects and environments in unreal engine, please correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @m4ster_root
      @m4ster_root 3 года назад +1

      There will always be scenarios where LED screens wont do well. Like putting a green fabric over an object in the scene.
      What LED screens will replace are green screen walls used for background scenes. Nothing keeps you from mixing the two technologies for the best end result!
