Fantastic overview. The impressions of these experienced DPs were priceless, along with the technologists clearly and honestly explaining the pros and cons from their point of view. Well done.
Thanks ACS for compiling these interviews of DPs who have tested Virtual production and addressed the benefits and challenges. Looking forward for more informative videos.
No ILM fluff promo video that cuts away quickly from the stagecraft in order to not give away it's flaws. This is a good transparent and honest perspective on LED virtual production.
Good presentation and I appreciate that the pros and cons are being pointed out. There's a tendency to get over-excited at new technology as if it's going to make it so you can just pick up a camera and get your shot at the push of a few buttons, without considering that with it will come new challenges and skillsets. There's no substitute for the blood, sweat, and tears, as it were if you want to get your vision onto the screen. There's always a tradeoff.
omg me too just downloaded unreal 5 need to dive into this thing for real. I taught myself blender last year and now it's an integral part of my workflow, just hoping that picking up unreal will be even easier!
you prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Ashton Hugh i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi, please answer that which type/technology/specification/pixel density-size these LED screens are preferred so to avoid shimmer & interlacing problems.. what lumen range should monitors be & does it needs to be changed on different fps on camera etc etc. such practical things to be noted!
Zack can you be more specific? Certainly there are a lot of areas of expertise that need to come together to make it seamless. The Virtual Production Technical Director is a key player but communication between all departments in pre production has never been more important. Due to the system complexity any setup would require time for calibration and shakedown. Especially in these early days.
Can't wait till I finally get access to this technology, Kinda sad how most production companies aren't trying to do setups like this tbh.. They just like to spend ridiculous amounts of money, and time since they think they have it...
There’s also no reason foreground elements cannot be generated on-the-fly and composited into shots. This would give limited sets even more depth and verisimilitude.

This is so fascinating! I got to stop postponing and just deep dive into Unreal.
Have you done it yet?????

im doing something similar but in unity, there are some great tools...
Pretty interesting stuff. I agree with the point that it is going to breed a new version of filmmaker. Looking forward!
Exciting to be a part of this transition into virtual filmmaking.

Great presentation!
This is a great video. Made me think of the old painted studio backgrounds.
There is a correlation to the old painted Studio backgrounds but imagine that they have come alive and are now three dimensional
Great overview!
What was your most difficult process? So many different techs to work together. How did you fix those problems?

Exciting and at the same time scary!
Is the medium in danger of replacing the story?

If you have a big enough asset library
2:23 no game engines, such as Unreal then say unity! we all know Unreal is number one!
I recognize ROE panels! So good. I'm jealous
Furry Bubble
