    Superb discussion. Having seen some of the issues mentioned in this have now been sorted with firmware, it’s a better workhorse now. I still wonder though if I’m the only person in the world who hated the default handle. Not long enough to be long, and way too long to be short. Would be awesome if it could go c100 styles while maintaining rotation.

      not really but in the same lighting conditions it is better resolution. They have their trade offs for sure but the fx3 will be more than enough for most people.

    We can now grade in HDR with the M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pro mini LED display with Adobe Premiere or Davinci Resolve, I'm speechless the first time I saw HDR video on my MacBook Pro 16" screen and it boosted the highlights up to 1600 nits while still keeping contrast and all the detail in the shadow. Simply amazing!

    • @australiancinematographers7742

      We had a MacBook Pro 16" on set on our test shoot and when we compared it to the fifty grand AUD Sony BVM-HX310 we were amazed at how good the MacBook was. It is an impressive HDR display

    • @shueibdahir
      @shueibdahir 8 месяцев назад

      I still wouldn't grade on that display. While the shadow detail is impressive it doesn't reach nearly the same level of blacks as OLED and especially QD-OLED so there's a huge range of low end you're simply unable to perceive. I'd do bulk of the grading on an OLED TV and fine tune it on my MacBook incase I'm on the move.

    Great timing, I've been working on a new chapter of my course which is all about turning timelapse sequences (RAW photos) into HDR video. I've had to do an enormous amount of research and testing to finalise it. There's a shockingly small amount of info out there, and nobody seems to be really certain which methods are best for this particular workflow.

    • @australiancinematographers7742
      @australiancinematographers7742 2 года назад

      The paucity of information out there is strange but it may be possibly because HDR is presently siloed into the large Streaming dramas/documentaries projects? Once RUclips gets its act together HDR should be more accessible

    Good presentation and I appreciate that the pros and cons are being pointed out. There's a tendency to get over-excited at new technology as if it's going to make it so you can just pick up a camera and get your shot at the push of a few buttons, without considering that with it will come new challenges and skillsets. There's no substitute for the blood, sweat, and tears, as it were if you want to get your vision onto the screen. There's always a tradeoff.

    Hello Lee, This video is so informative on so many different levels and as a certified FCP trainer, I am hoping you can help me with my question about camera archives, please. I have searched, but have been unable to find answers. I recently edited a 6 minute project by copying 4 SD cards with all my footage into my external hard drive and editing. After editing, I discovered the value of camera archives! The client wants a longer project from the same footage and some changes on the 1st project. My question: If I make camera archives of the 4 SD cards from the 1st project and then delete the copied media associated with the 1st project will I be able to make changes to that first project with footage from the camera archive created after editing is complete? Any insight you have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    • @LeeHerbet
      @LeeHerbet 3 года назад

      Hi, there's a bit of unpack there. A camera archive is kind of like creating a zip of your card. The idea behind this is that if something where to happen to you footage once you've copied it into your library or onto you your hard drive (ie, something gets corrupted) you have an exact copy of what it looked like on your card. This allows you to format and re-use the card, whilst having a "backup" of it. Having said that, if you still have the existing project in the library, you could right-click on the project and create a duplicate of it and then makes changes to that duplicate. That way, you don't have to start from scratch. If you delete the footage from the project/library, you would then need to re-import it to work with it again. I think that's what you where asking? :) BTW, sorry for the late response. This isn't my channel and so I don't get notifications of when there are comments. :)

    • @tomgleeson5722

      Zack can you be more specific? Certainly there are a lot of areas of expertise that need to come together to make it seamless. The Virtual Production Technical Director is a key player but communication between all departments in pre production has never been more important. Due to the system complexity any setup would require time for calibration and shakedown. Especially in these early days.

    Film doesn't have any pixels. With pixels, in this case, we indicate how many MOSFET there are on a censor. We indicate film sizes with millimeters or sometimes inches, so like Super35 (official name is Superscope 235) is 24,89x18,66 Cinescope (2,35:1) is 21,95x18,6 Techniscope (2,39:1) is 22x9.47 The name super35 came from the film that is used named "135" better know as 35mm I'm not sure but 4k is about 18 years old, but definitely not 100. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_35 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOSFET en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_sensor en.wikipedia.org/wiki/135_film
