  • Welcome to the latest installment of Chad's Sports Talk.
The ongoing drama of conference realignment continues to show. Oregon State & Wazzu, in efforts to keep the Pac-12 alive, has invited Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and San Diego State to join the Pac-12. This was after the Beavers and Cougars could not work out a football agreement for the 2025 season. These additions will take effect for the 2026-27 athletic season. Mountain West contract expires in 2027 and exit fees will be minimal when the four leave. The PAC will need two more programs to gain an AQ status for tournaments, and they would like to get Cal and Stanford back if the ACC implodes. What other programs should the Phoenix PAC go after and how many? What's next for the Mountain West? Which FCS program will move up next? I will share my thoughts on these questions, but let us mix it up in the comments below.

Remember last year or the year before when the WAC/ ASun had the idea of all moving to FBS level with all the craziness of conference realignment what if that happened but not under the Wac name all the schools would be separate out amongst FBS leagues Mountain West C-USA etc

If I am majority of the American schools outside a couple I wouldn't entertain the idea of joining the new PAC 12 out of Tulsa/ North Texas and that all depends on if SMU 🐎 joins because SMU/ North Texas are in the same area basically and Tulsa is a neighboring State in Oklahoma

I think 🤔 SMU 🐎 should get ahead of things especially if the ACC collapse down the road here in the next couple years and join the new PAC 12 they would just need another Texas travel partner or Tulsa in Oklahoma long shot Tulsa reasons for leaving the AAC would be to be in a " bigger conference" similar to in-state schools Oklahoma State 🤠 and Oklahoma 🐴 , SMU 🐎 and Tulsa campus are about 4-5 drive apart

@@damascuslutin3956 if SMU jumps to PAC, I could see Rice or UTSA move it as well. More Rice if Cal and Stanford go back because of AAU membership but who knows

Just for fun Wac/ ASun schools spread amongst the FBS leagues
C-USA adds North Alabama 🦁, West Georgia 🐺 Central Arkansas 🐻 and SFA
Sun Belt adds : Eastern Kentucky and Austin peay (if UT Chattanooga says No to a Sun Belt invite)
Mountain West adds Tarleton State, Abilene Christian Southern Utah, and Utah Tech

@@damascuslutin3956 I would say "That's a no for me." West Georgia just moved up so not ready. SUU, UTT, AP all play in a 10K or under stadium, so no. The only ones that I may look at from UAC is ACU, UCA, EKU, UNA, Tarleton. From them only three I would say are finalist and they are: C. Arkansas, E. Kentucky, and Tarleton.

@@chadssportstalk7171 I know West Georgia just moved up to FCS level they would have to make facility upgrade but in this scenario they would be a travel partner for Kennesaw State 🦉 in Georgia North Alabama 🦁 would rekindle 🔥 Rivalry with Jax State 🐔 in Alabama SFA brings the SHSU 😺 rivalry into C-USA and Central Arkansas 🐻 is a bridge between LA Tech and Missouri State 🐻 in C-USA on the map 🗺️
Tarleton State and Abilene Christian would be Texas rivals in Mountain 🏔️ West same for Southern Utah and Utah all schools would have to commit to joining FBS level and facility upgrades for stadiums arenas etc
Austin peay and Eastern Kentucky to Sun Belt getting SBC back into Tennessee and Kentucky replacing Middle Tenn and WKU who left awhile back UT Chattanooga is also in play for SBC but I was just talking about the UAC schools

If I am North Dakota State 🦬 South Dakota State 🐰 I would reach out to the Mountain West and have influences on who joins us Montana Montana State etc maybe Idaho rejoins FBS in Mountain West replacing Boise State 🐎

@@damascuslutin3956 IMO Montana & Montana St should be the first 2 FCS programs the MWC should reach out to. The Dakotas are a distant second, and I think every Group conference should court them except SBC. Conference realignment has shown strange bed fellows so only time will tell.

Their are rumors about the American trying to grab Air Force to join it's Military brothers Army and Navy but if Air Force join the AAC another Mountain West school would have to join Wyoming 🤠 Utah State or New Mexico as a travel partner for Air Force

@@damascuslutin3956 I saw that too, and I think they are looking at UNLV since the Rebs got overlooked by the PAC. I would got after LaTech as a move in case Tulane bolts.
