  • We all love stories. Many cultures are rooted in oral storytelling. How can we help young immigrant families in Calgary to also spark a love of reading and books at home?
In this Left Unread Storybooth series, you'll hear from Malaika, a teacher candidate at Mount Royal University who moved to Canada from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. Here, she reflects ways to help newcomers become joyful readers.
Through the Left Unread Storybooth conversations, we ask simple but important questions to those who've been a part of helping local children learn to read. Left Unread is a movement that continues to create urgency around the need for early literacy and early learning investment and understanding in Calgary and Alberta.
Through the illuminating, heartfelt and hopeful voices of those featured in Storybooth series, we hope to shed a light on both the struggle and the opportunity in helping more children learn to read by Grade 3.
