The sweetest part of this for me is that Tidus was able to say "I'm home!" He spent ALL of FFX hoping and praying and fighting for the chance to go back to Dream Zanarkand. He always treated Spira as little more than a sightseeing tour while he waited for the chance to leave...but now that he's here and now that Yuna's with him, he can call Spira his home.
No, you are wrong. Tidus of course wanted to go back of course, but after learning he was a dream and that he was there to help break the cycle he accepted his role. He loved Yuna so much that he let her go knowing that her and his friends and all of Spira could be free of Sin. He sacrificed if all for Yuna. I got my Yuna, her name is Justine.
No no you are all wrong. Tidus calls Spira home because he died so many times in my playthrough over the years and gain alot of experience since then. Plus finally i could get some of Yuna's sweet....um i mean Tidus and Yuna could live happily ever after.😅

And not different because she arbitrarily changed; different because she was allowed to grow with the shackles of her summoner destiny lifted. Such great characterization of her in this game!
To me, Tidus's "I love you" came when he told Yuna at Macalania "Not until the end. Always." That said, it would have been a nice touch to see him say it either here or in the Perfect Ending. Also, hello fellow Titans fan!
I know this comment is 3 years old, BUT in FFX Yuna only says i love you in the english version. In the Japanese version she says thank you, that's the way westerners interpreted it.
But why say something that is so much obvious? It was not necessery in that scene to say it. I think that "i am home" and the body language makes the scene even better than just with a normal "i love you". :)
I don't know why it took me until now to realize that the ending theme is an orchestral version of X-2's Besaid theme, which I adore. Such a suitable use for it. The music in this game is highly underrated because this was the first Final Fantasy to not use Nobuo Uematsu's music.
I really disliked this game so far (well some exception are the game battle and the ost) but when I see this ending, i'm saying this is the only good thing that make me play this game, and I'm happy this exist, after crying of sadness for the first one, i'm crying for happiness with it
I think Tidus is one of the most tragic FF heroes of all time. Actually, he probably is the most. What an under rated character. Even when he found out he is just a dream of the fayth, he still presses forward with the most positive attitude anyone could possibly have under those circumstances. Just recently, after playing FFX again on PS4, I realize he's up there with Cloud and Squall as the greatest main hero in all of FF, hands down. All he ever wanted was to go home...but that was never going to happen. Even knowing this, all he cared about was helping Yuna and saving Spira. That's deep to me. Such a strong-minded character and accepting his fate at the end of FFX like a champ. I'm sorry, but this ending doesn't exist to me. It almost makes FFX feel completely pointless and how it was Tidus who ended up becoming the saviour, not the final summoning like everyone had thought through the entire journey of FFX.
Well that's the thing, he's a dream manifest made real. Who's to say that Yuna's faith in him didn't bring him back? He was never alive or dead to begin with, but faith given physical form.
I agree except for him coming back negating it all. It doesn't. He did it all knowing he would fade. He genuinely never expected to come back. His sacrifice was not for nothing and Yuna fought tooth and nail to find him and bring him home. It's an unexpected reward for both of them. An unexpected reward does not negate the sacrifice and pain experienced.
Aside from FF6, I'd say this is the better endings of FF games for me here. We see a tender good ending with the protagonists :) Music definitely helps to bring the mood in full circle for Yuna. For a good ending, I would have loved to see a more longer cut scene here. I can imagine her whistling to Tidus from the sky and she rushes to him hoping this time she won't disappear through him like in FFX's ending and they both fall into the water and embrace one another as we see a tearful Yuna being consoled by Tidus.
@@yves_santa7 well that kinda thing happens quite a bit in the FF world lol... they can go somewhere and chat it up with them and they spent the entire first game chilling with a dead guy and the friend in question here wasnt really alive in the first place so... yea... we're lucky they're slightly amused and not incredibly confused

They don't even really talk about him throughout X-2, yet they were all on that journey and know how important he was to actually saving the world. I wish X-2 had like an epilogue chapter dealing with him being back in Spira and seeing him talking to everyone (like you can take Tidus in the airship and go to all the locations again, catch him up on what he's missed) though that would have taken away from the multiple ending premise.
