For the nationalists, Christianity is less about doing good for others and more making yourself feel better, elevating yourself in status simply because you happen to be Christian. The irony is there are plenty of moments where Jesus outright says people like that aren't getting past the holy gates.
It's simple bro, what makes you progressive isn't religion (organised religions to be more precise), it's secularism that makes you progressive. I'll give you an example for you to understand it conceptually, In an open or progressive society people are free to choose whatever they want to believe or worship or even to not believe in any god, But on the contrary if you live in a religious society of organised religions/monotheistic society worshipping any god other than the monotheistic god is considered as a sin, it's called heresy or shirk, and not believing in any god in such society is also considered a sin, So a monotheistic society doesn't give you the freedom of religion or to not believe in any god, therefore secularism is needed in monotheistic societies to give its people the right to believe in any god or to not believe in any god.

I am German and I'm following the current events in the US with a particular interest, because it is almost exactly what happened in our countrie 91 years ago. I'm not saying you will end up exactly the same way Germany did back then, because the pace and the details are different, but the US already changed drastically in the past 2 decades and it will continue to change even more in the coming 2 decades. I have no idea how or where this path will end, but it certainly will not be a place your founding fathers ever dared to imagine.

I really enjoyed this long form video and I really hope more are in production! Christian nationalism/Christian supremacy is so fucking terrifying, and I highly recommend the book The Violent Take It By Force by religious scholar/journalist Matthew D. Taylor. He specifically looks at non-denominational Charismatic Christian leaders (especially those in the New Apostolic Reformation) and how they played enormous roles in electing Trump, in his administration, and then in events leading up to and including January 6th.

It's simple bro, what makes you progressive isn't religion (organised religions to be more precise), it's secularism that makes you progressive.
I'll give you an example for you to understand it conceptually,
In an open or progressive society people are free to choose whatever they want to believe or worship or even to not believe in any god,
But on the contrary if you live in a religious society of organised religions/monotheistic society worshipping any god other than the monotheistic god is considered as a sin, it's called heresy or shirk, and not believing in any god in such society is also considered a sin, So a monotheistic society doesn't give you the freedom of religion or to not believe in any god,
therefore secularism is needed in monotheistic societies to give its people the right to believe in any god or to not believe in any god.

You can attribute my progressive values to other things if you'd like, but my religion is by far the more direct contributor. Your assessment that it is secularism is very indirect and presumptive.

But if you think logically organised religions are called organised for a reason, that reason is it defines you, your life, because it gives you doctrine to follow, it gives you laws to follow, which are fixed and cannot be changed by mere humans as it's given by the God, and since the doctrine is considered as word of God you can't reject it,
Now suppose that doctrine says if you believe other than me or if you do not believe in me the bad things would happen to you, now this motivates a good hearted person also to reject other Gods and see non believers as someone that needs to be saved, in other words he would never accept non believers, atheists from his heart.
Now what secularism does is it takes the law making right from God and gives it to the people of that country, and when people have the right to make laws for themselves they can rectify the laws if it's harmful to its people or others.

I am German and I'm following the current events in the US with a particular interest, because it is almost exactly what happened in our countrie 91 years ago.
I'm not saying you will end up exactly the same way Germany did back then, because the pace and the details are different, but the US already changed drastically in the past 2 decades
and it will continue to change even more in the coming 2 decades.
I have no idea how or where this path will end, but it certainly will not be a place your founding fathers ever dared to imagine.

As a normal human it is pretty frustrating to see someone running around thinking my kid is going to rot in hell, might not be as special or righteous as them...... As an intelligent human it is really weird to think that another adult thinks an invisible god that was visible knowingly turned its own self into its son while it stayed as itself god in an unknown location "heaven". Then it turned itself into a ghost/spirit which is invisible while it remained god in heaven, its son and this never seen ghost. Then knowing it would die it allowed itself to die. And it did so because it collectively punished all humans for the sins of people it created and sins those collectively punished for had no responsibility of.

Christian nationalism/Christian supremacy is so fucking terrifying, and I highly recommend the book The Violent Take It By Force by religious scholar/journalist Matthew D. Taylor. He specifically looks at non-denominational Charismatic Christian leaders (especially those in the New Apostolic Reformation) and how they played enormous roles in electing Trump, in his administration, and then in events leading up to and including January 6th.
This is why I'm getting my passport and ETIAS visa in order. I love this country but I hate what is happening. Even if the VP wins, you already know the right is going to scream and cry that the election was stolen. It's a guarantee.
