Clean little waves were so much fun on the Placid! For board info, or any questions about SUP surf or paddling, please email me at supthecreek@gmail.com
What a very nice day, it seemed like you were the only one catching waves that day. Too small for the regular surfers. Those are the days to take it easy and just have some fun. Thanks for sharing !! .
Rick, thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge. Would be very interested in your views on the Placid compared to the Speeed. Not so much for the good days but for the mushburgers, the soft, the small. I'm looking for just one board to go out on most days regardless.
Hi Strawdog Your comment is much appreciated, thank you! Basically, board length is very important to this answer. Some facts: I much prefer the Placid to the Speeed now. The Placid is a much more stable board size for size. I feel the Placid is a great board from 8'10 and smaller.... but didn't like my 9'1 at all, the nose was just too big for my liking. The Speeed is a good board at any size. It is really hard to generalize without knowing which size you are considering For example: A Speeed ridden a little big for your weight is a great board in small surf.... but if it is on your low end of the volume scale, it needs more wave. The Placid is similar... but for different reasons Even a comfortable sized Placid needs some energy in small waves.... in very low power waves the Placid won't open up. The best shapes for low power are: Flow V2 if you ride a size or 2 larger than normal (me- 9'4) Creek if you ride a size larger than normal (me- 9'4) SP25 at any size (me 8'8 and 9'5) Kanga in a larger size (me- 9'6) Skate in your "normal" size (me-9'2) For a more detailed conversation about the exact sizes you are considering, please email me at: supthecreek@gmail.com I am actually waiting for my new design to arrive (prototype #2) the "Ghost" This board is a refinement of several of my favorite boards with the sticky bits redesigned. 1st version was a good start but I wanted to tweak a few features a bit more. It is specifically designed to rip in low power surf... but will shine in good surf as well. I am after a very snappy, fast board that sizes up and down well and has good stability. It should arrive very soon and if it satisfies me, will be available for order.
I forgot to mention the Steeze It is a favorite in Florida and other areas with low power waves I found the 8'10 to be great in small Florida waves, so it can be ridden at your preferred size....but slightly tippy if ridden on the small side.
Thanks Zoe, that put a smile on my face!! 🤗 I have been filming constantly and put together lots of projects but never seem to post them. Maybe I need to get more published!
Someplace warm!!!! 😊 But back on Cape Cod now, so I actually put on a 3/2 the other day because it was cold and rainy 😮 I won't let THAT happen again! 🤣
Hey Rick huge fan since I found your videos. Respect and admiration. At 49 hoping I can surf like you one day 🤙🏻

Hi Dale, that was one of those surprise sessions, where it was more fun than the forecast led on!
See you next Fall!

Hey Rick, is this Ft. Pierce? Looks familiar to me. Also, thanks for showing us that you can still have some fun in the small stuff!

Hi Sean, it was a peaceful morning with just enough wave to max out a tiny swell!
