I just read the Total SUP article about you, and I was wondering : the Sunova Creek you designed is available with different sizes and volumes, but wich one do you surf with most of the time ?
Hi Pierre Thanks for asking! I have had 3 sizes: 8'10, 9'1 and 9'4 The one that works best for me is the size I designed it at; 9'4 x 32 at 148 liters The Creek just seems to function best for me with in a little bigger size. I recommend going a size bigger than you would normally think, but that is probably age related. Younger guys totally rip on the small sizes: The 7'7 and 7'10 Creek have seen podiums in the Australian National Titles
Hi Arnout, I ride my bike in high gear, peddling hard and 80% of the time I ride "no hands" because it is easier on my lower back and wrists to sit up straight.... and I never wear a helmet. Just the carefree, 50's kid in me, I guess. Plus, my neck really hurts when I fall hard on my back.... some kind of "whiplash" left over when I got rear ended at a red light. I don't think my neck could endure a heavy wipeout with the added resistance of a helmet.
The Quobba's have eased it up a bit for me, but still a little beyond my reach. I have to really work hard to get it to open up.... it needs more leg strength and speed than I have, to really unlock it's potential. Definitely an amazing board in the hands of a strong, advanced SUPster, with solid snap in their legs!
RUclips is so full of supsurfing videos featuring superacrobatic ninja manouvers that I feel really refreshed looking at your very controlled and apparently effortless balance changes on the board!

Hi P732 Thank you for asking!! It has been a whirlwind of everything housing and nothing SUP! I bought a "fixer upper" house south of Cocoa, Florida. ha ha.... more like a total teardown to the floor joists and rebuild.....While I'm living in it! Plus I'm basically doing it all myself, except for two awesome SUPsters that have been helping me on weekends. They have been invaluable to me with their knowledge and skills. I am starting to check cams again, cuz I know I have to get back in the water!!! But when you have no floors in the whole house.... priorities rule 😆 I think I'll make a surf/Rehab video as soon as I get the entire floor ripped out. It was 8, yes EIGHT layers of flooring that I had to tear out, and 3 of them were ceramic tile. A beast of a job!
What...nothing but nice big rollers streaming off a glassy ocean? Where's the challenge? That looked like a mini-JBay to me with those long rights. I'll take my three-foot closeouts crashing on the NE Florida coastline any day...NOT! Let me know when you're migrating back down south and maybe we can catch a session while you're in the area.
