      Thanks again for another great tutorial. Going to sew it this week.
      I hope you make more vids with this brother machine!

    I like how in these tutorials you cover basic concepts like what your sewing machine settings are and how to line up for the right size of seam. So many "beginner" tutorials never mention things like that, which leaves many beginners fumbling around and assuming it's their fault they make mistakes.

      Thanks for letting me know. Planning to do a future video covering absolute basics of sewing seams and what terms like "backstitching" mean and why you do it.

    This is by far the best video for small pouches. Not to slow but just enough. Thanks.

    This is an amazing video for a brand new sewer with not much confidence like myself. All of your tips like the pin in the corner for the box part are so helpful and makes sense. My bag turned out so well with the seams matching perfectly. I am so proud of myself for how this project turned out! Thank you sooo much!

    Great idea. Made them myself before. They are great gifts as well as gift bags with a handmade item inside.

    Here is an idea that makes adding a lining to the bag a lot easier. Place the two "pretty" fabrics right sides together. Then cut out the same size lining piece and place the "wrong" side on top of the wrong side of your pretty fabric so you are seeing the "pretty" side of the fabric. Then sew around and when you pull it through, your lining will be inside the bag and there won't be any holes to sew 😊!

      Which sides are you "sewing all around?" When do you sew the corners? And are you sewing the lining and outside corners together? I have a sense of how you are consolidating steps but can't quite puzzle it out

    I love this! One way I found out with doing lined bags is to leave an opening at the middle part at the top of the bag as opposed to the bottom, if you are turning it anyways and then doing a top stitch to secure the lining, you will be closing that opening gap as well. This way there is no stitching in the bottom of the bag of having to do a ladder stitch.

    Do you use the actual thin lining fabric or can the lining be a different cotton fabric? About to try this out and very excited!!

    How do you keep the scenes from unravelling where you made the openings to insert the drawstrings how are they reinforced.

      @@SewingReport I guess what I'm not understanding is once you open that seam up and put the drawstrings in that seem that you've opened up has raw edges and when you pull the drawstring open and close isn't that going to make that raw edge flip out and ravel?

    • @SewingReport
      @SewingReport  3 года назад

      I've made quite a few and haven't had that issue. You could stitch the raw edges down before putting the lining and outer fabrics together if you're worried about it though.

    Is it absolutely necessary to make the boxed corners for the lined bag? Or can we just make a version of the lined bag that doesn't have boxed corners so that it retains the flat square shape?

    • @mae7493
      @mae7493 3 года назад

      I'm sure you could just apply the same pattern for the small bag but line it, I've done the same before for some of my bags and it's worked well for me

    How long should the drawstrings be?

    • @SewingReport
      @SewingReport  2 года назад

      You'll need roughly 60 inches total. I eyeball it and run the drawstring through both sides and figure out how much extra I want at the ends, including the knots.
