- In this episode entitled 'Nine Tenths Of The Law', Harry H Corbett gives a powerful performance as Tom, whos granddaughter has been abducted and is desperate to find her. Also seen here is John Bardon (Jim Branning, Eastenders) playing Toms backup man, Ralph. The lady with the pram is Jan Younger.
Harry H Corbett such a talented actor. Greatly missed, I grew up watching Steptoe and Son albeit reruns as I was born in 1973.
Great to see this with Harry H Corbett. A great Actor.....straight and Comedy. R.I.P...HARRY. 😇
Loved him as an actor, was very handsome and loved him in Steptoe, its nice to see some lovely comments on here, but some not so nice, no offence but Harold Jameson whatever your name is what gives u the right to slag off a man you don't even know or will know and to use disgusting language as well, its a very cheap shot against someone who is not here to defend themselves - good job there r some of us who do like him and appreciate how talented he was
Well said Purple Girl.
Lovely comments.
Correct
I wasnt alive when Harry H Corbett was around however im a HUGE fan of steptoe and son and amazed at the quality of acting in such an old show. Thanks for uploading this. I love seeing harry H acting in-roles which wernt a spin off of 'harold steptoe'.Even in carry on screaming you could see it was heavily influenced by harold. Would have loved to seen him on stage too!
I love Harry H Corbett, thank you for uploading this.
No, his last tv appearance was in Tales Of The Unexpected in 1982 shortly before he died. The one where a group of robbers tunnel their way into the bank next door from an adjacent shop only to find it closed due to a bank holiday.
Oh! I've seen that one!
It was great to see Harry H Corbett play against type. A great actor who struggled to get parts due to the type typecasting of Harold in Steptoe and Son. Again great to see him in Shoestring.
He was badly typecast
Poor Harry's facial scars from his serious car accident are very evident here.
Yes, very true!
not really
@@andrewwhyte4753 Look again
@@aidansmyth6480 You're imagining things that aren't there.
@@andrewwhyte4753 Agree you cannot see the scars.
this is brilliant rip harry his poor face such a shame but thank goodness he survived the accident
Rip Harry sadly missed.
Harry H was/is a legend..anyone who think's otherwise does "not" know acting....period!
before commenting, they "should" check out his other work for confirmation of this...but were prob too stupid to do so in the first place....typical pleblian remark me thinks.
The other guy is John Bardon, later "EASTENDERS".
Not only a great actor but a very sexy man.
I loved Trevor Eve's hair. It was so thick.
Kutta Kyte - Ne Ne Na Na Na Na Nu Nu, Special Brew!
Harry is looking serious there.
he looks aged because he was in a very serious car accident and had scars on his face
He'd also had a massive heart attack in 1979.
thought at one point Eddie was going to say-'Small Boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. .'
it's really strange seeing him not playing Harold from steptoe & son.
he was regarded as the British Marlon Brando
Bam ! Memories of very young childhood. The best times ever.
He had been in a car accident just before this you can see the damage to his face
My god
Harry h Corbett was genius his stage career was sadly cut off due to s&s
Truly outstanding
s & s?
That's Trevor Eve ? I thought it was Bob Carolgees!
Wow the scars on his face from the bad car accident are so visible, it happened before he filmed this.
Can't imagine the scars came from an accident he had AFTER he filmed this?
Ah yes, thanks. I even remember reading that story.
I gather that he had had a car accident not long before this was filmed so might explain his look here!
Is that eddie bootlace?
So bloody what?.....We've got women walking around today with hair extensions, false eyelashes, plastic nails, silicon boobs, fake tans and bleached teeth......makes Harry's wig look a bit mild doesn't it? !!
Absolutely! :)
Corbett had already had a massive heart attack, but continued to smoke heavily.
According to his daughter Susannah Corbett, he cut down from 60 to 20 cigarettes a day after his first heart attack in September 1979. He appeared in panto within 2 days of leaving hospital, then sadly had a serious car crash which can be seen in his facial scarring in this Shoestring appearance. He died at just 57, following a fatal heart attack in 1982.
@@glamdolly30 He was still chain smoking while filming "Tales of the Unexpected".
@MickeyLove01 Thanks. I remember that one.
You're welcome.....good wasn't it :)
Jealousy is an ugly trait!
This was Harry's last TV performance?
No. He was in an episode of Tales Of The Unexpected in 1982. He died in March of that year.
I remember him in the film Silver Dream Racer.
Like you perhaps!
Corbett looked a lot older here and his voice was very gravelly.
Corbett had clearly put on a lot of weight in the last series of Steptoe and Son.
My father says he might have been told to wear it.
What else did Daddy tell you?
You been looking in the mirror again!
You do know he wore a wig?
No one bloody cares if he wore a wig, he was talented and had more talent in his little finger than u have completely, not very nice is it, being vile to a man who is dead and can't defend himself
So?
He was aging badly because of his destructive lifestyle.
Corbett had already had his first heart attack.
