If more black metalheads acted like Abbath or Fenriz then the world would be a better place. There's definitely a place for some level of gatekeeping, but too many take themselves too seriously. If you haven't laughed or smiled once in the last couple months then you need to go touch snow.

The tree metaphor was great! People pick the fruits of black metal, use it their own ways, some even use it to genetically engineer new kinds of fruit, and that's OK.
I thought the lotr part was pretty epic. I will be going to a Shire themed hotel next week so I physically cannot cringe at this stuff without being a hypocrite 😂

Farvann can you listen to the band Scuorn? It's a symphonic black metal band from Italy with lyrics in Neapolitan language. They include traditional Neapolitan instruments in their sound and it sounds fantastic.

Hi farvan, I've been a bit burned out on black metal and metal in general do you ever have these moments as well? What are some bands that you hooked on the genre again?
Try listening to anything other than metal. Either you'll be able to take a short rest and get back into metal, you'll become a fan of that genre instead, get sick of it, and return to metal, or you'll accidentally get too involved in the genre, forget about metal, and be asking this exact question but with a different genre
Like the other guy said,try listening to different types of music, explore music genres that interest you, listen to Classical Music if you like it (believe it or not, Metal and Classical Music have many similarities to each other). Now, if you want to continue listening only to Metal, try listening to some more experimental albums, with daring proposals but that meet the conditions to be considered "Metal". Ved End Blues (Almost sure that is not how you spell it,lol) for example, it's a great Experimental Black Metal band, with a lot of influence from Jazz and Classical Music.
The Rate Your Music website should help you do both of those things. I hope I helped, and long live Black Metal! \m/

All you have to do is go to the Genres section of RYM, and look for something that interests you, after that, the site will indicate the most important releases of that genre and provide a more detailed description.
I actually do listen to a lot of different genres mostly dream pop, shoegaze, trip hop, electronic music and I love those genres but black metal is still my favourite and it's more of a frustration of not getting captured by anything new and become a bit burned out on listening to what I already know

Man das hat mich ja schon überrascht als du meintest, Vredesbyrd fändest du am besten von Dimmu. Nicht, weil es nicht der geilste Song den sie jemals rausgebracht haben wäre, sondern weil der Song nicht mehr zu den frühesten Alben gehört und du ja mal meintest, du fändest die Band mittlerweile so na ja... Kann ich teilweise nachvollziehen, aber was Vredesbyrd an geht bin ich trotzdem voll bei dir. Das Riff ( kommt einmal am Anfang und am Ende übrigens ) ist der Hammer

As a drummer who has definitely messed up the song that is to be played and/or transition(s) I apologize for your drummer's mistakes and can only say it's because we have to think with 4 limbs and sometimes that confuses us. Also it's hard to find good black metal drummers so you can't really fire him easily or anything right?

I died when you made that face in relation to metalcore. 🤣Somehow, I managed to avoid it for more than a decade (I'm really good at living under a rock) and then decided to look up a few bands to find out what it sounds like. Nope, absolute no for me, the formula of screamed verses and boyband choruses is deadly for me. 😵
And the lyrics tend to be about superficial everyday bullshit too. Most American metal sucks.

Bm needs more vocal styles. Chamber screams, seal barks, saruman howls all underutilized. Also off genre vocal styles and even cleans.
Black Metal is suppose to be Black Metal. Wtf is a saruman howl? Who coined that term?.. This is why sub genres exist. When you stray from a genre's format you lean into sub genre territory when you incorporate other styles together..
