The Sapphire is also a marvel of engineering, but I think that it is underrated. Each motor is rated at 650HP max. and the inverter is probably the limiting factor. Making closer to 1400HP+. Lucid is really looking to compete against upmarket European EVs, like maybe the Porsche Taycan "Turbo" GT, which is priced about the same as the Sapphire. The Plaid nearly matches those two performance overachievers, but without the high end materials, fit and finish. But for $90K the Plaid cannot be beat for performance value. As the $90K models of the Lucid and Porsche offer nowhere near the performance. Let alone the $47K-$54K Model 3 Performance.

Something to add about the model 3 performance. You can get a 2018 model 3 long range awd with under 50k miles for 20k if you look hard enough for the right deal. And there is a company called ingenext that makes something called a ghost upgrade for awd long range model 3s and Ys which basically turns them into performance cars. So for 22k you can have what is basically a model 3 performance without the performance suspension and all that. But you still get all the power for only 22k. The only thing about the ghost upgrade is you need the 980 motor in the rear which is what comes on the model 3 performance from 18-23. But only comes on some of the model 3s and Ys so you have to check to make sure the car you get has the 980 motor.

I have to say Lucid does not have the resources to build in the volume to compete. Tesla will ship 5 times as many if not more. That being said the Lucid has a number of options that is lacking in the Plaid. But Plaid to 3 years ago was 120K. So I expect Lucid price to drop.

Not when you factor in the depreciation which effects all electric cars, spend a little more and you can have a proper car (911 turbo s) which holds it value much better so over 3-5 years it’s better financially also 😊 also is far better in build quality and overall performance

Tesla reliability? What reliability? I have a X Plaid and a M3 Performance. Both had interior rattle which 2 Tesla service centers have been unable to totally fix. The X Plaid has acceleration shudder issue and after getting it fix at 11000 miles, it came back at 17000 miles, after two fixes, it seems ok for now. I can only cross my fingers. So much for Tesla quality and reliability. And, I still see subtle panel gaps both on the interior and exterior of my Teslas. Tesla cars are cheaper for good reasons.

When you read Tesla website, the 0-60 time the company uses is with one foot rollout. My Model X plaid is supposed to take 2.5 s from 0 to 60 mph, but I have so far clocked only as fast as 2.78 seconds.

The plaid can consistently run a 2.10 0-60 , some runs reaching into the low 2.00's. 2.23 would be a below average pull. Stock world record i believe still stands at a 9.08 1/4 mile, so probably a 1.98 or 1.99 0-60

I drive a X plaid and M3 Performance, but while other companies come up with faster acceleration, better cornering capability and stopping power, Tesla only comes up with massive layoffs. Supervior in what sense? I have a X Plaid and M3 Performance. Both have interior rattle, the X suffers from acceleration shudder, which took me two times to visit the Tesla service center. The negative camper on my X plaid makes the tires wear out at 14000 miles. The falcon wing doors stop opening in hot days especially over 75F and if the door is only the side of the sun. Tesla Service Centers (2 that I visited) could not fix the door issue. What superior are you referring to? The Plaid X is very heavy, cornering is not surefooted. the 3 performance is better at cornering, but is sometimes too small for my body. Tesla is a trade-off, their cars are cheaper for reasons due to panel gaps, rattle noise, pre-mature failue of suspension upper arms, ball joints, and these have happened to both of my Teslas. BTW, I am yet to match the official MPGe of both of my Teslas. So far I can only manage to get 89% of stated range. What's up with that?

The 3rd is actually the new Porsche Taycan GT Weissach Package. It's the quickest out of the 3 in it's 0-60, 1/4 mile and a lot faster around the track(Laguna Seca/Nurburgring track records for road cars).

I think Plaid is a bit lighter than the 1111hp Air. Besides, people ignore the fact that the power curve is more important than peak power. I don't know the Air, but Plaid has 1000ish hp almost throughout its entire rev range. This is why Plaid can outpace 1500 hp hypercars. And this is also why some cars accelerate quicker than others of similar peak hp figures.
It's a more luxurious car plus horsepower doesn't translate to acceleration linearly.
Been waiting 3 years to see a plaid plus… the dream edition lost to the plaid 2 years ago and the sapphire was announced not long after that… what exactly is Tesla waiting for?
