Looks like a nice little kit you’ve put together. Nice (and a bit worrying) that there are so many of us enjoying putting together little kits to heat water. The Stanley set does satisfy three of the Great American Loves: It’s a thing, it’s a thing that can hold other things, and it can do things with the things it can hold.
There do seem to be a plethora of similar videos out there concerning water procurement and purification. To be honest, I use that kit almost daily just to make a cup of instant coffee with store purchases water. There is no coffee machine where I work so I set up what I like to call my tailgate coffee bar. It's a nice hot treat on these chilly PNW mornings that reinforces my ability to use the kit should I find myself in a more desperate situation. Thank you for the comment and the inspiration to produce a few videos of the kit in action!
Thanks for sharing your ideas . The adapter for the stove to fit the 1 pound fuel bottle is super . I removed the plastic lid lifter and replaced it with a grenade ring + P-38 opener. All the best .
In the beginning of your video you mentioned Goodwill. I can totally agree with you that there are some pretty surprising things. At your local Goodwill store as far as camping and hiking gear and equipment are concerned. I have found some amazing deals on the above mentioned items at my local Goodwill store before. Everything from a The North Face 65 liter backpack, rain jacket, Big Anges sleeping bag, and other goodies. Just goes to show that you don't have to spend a lot of money on some good camping and hiking gear.
You are correct! I probably cruise through my local Goodwill every week or so looking for something that catches my eye. One man's trash is another man's treasure! Thanks for the comment!
@@colockumcraft254 the other thing I did differently was to opt for a fire dragon stove and fuel tabs which is very compact also ,instead of a pezo burner ( they are faster heating but loud)
Nice kit using the Stanley with the GSI cup and all your accessories. I've been thinking about trying the same thing but, you packed in more than I thought would fit. Great job! Thanks for the idea!
Thanks! I've come up with a couple of modifications to the kit and some improvements I'd like to try. Keep a look out for an update video here in the near future. Happy New Year!
Thank you, was pretty helpful for me. Got the Stanleyset in use for years, but as yours, mine changed over the years. Though I don´t like the loud gasburners, mine contains the trangia burner and a litte windshild made from an old sweetbox. Slightly rolled it is inside the big cup, than one litte steelcup and that is even filled with a round box of herbs. Some teabags and instantcoffee complete my set. Without an extra cup outside, the whole Stanleyset fits in most molle bottleholders, so you can attach it wherever you like. Thank you again, will start improve my set again, now! Have a nice day.
I've wanted to try out some Trangia stoves but haven't gotten around to it yet. Sounds like I need to try a couple different things with my set up too!
Pretty cool. I have one and it is without a doubt my most used pot for water boiling .also for rattle prevention I use folded tin foil .. can double as windscreen . Foil packet for campfire cooking .. clean place to prep food ,,
Never be without a Bic Lighter for convenience, but also, NEVER Depend on it. Especially in the more humid climes, the flint WILL cause the striking wheel to freeze up and the flint will disintegrate, UNLESS you use the lighter on a daily basis, as in smoker. Then the heat from frequent light ups, keeps the corrosion at bay. ALWAYS have a ferro rod and matches as a back up. Fire is just to important not too. Otherwise, very nice cook kit!
I bought the Gearland canteen and nesting cup cook set for $33 and its just as good as the Pathfinder cook set that costs $90. I have both and they're both good cook sets.
Just found your channel and I enjoyed your review. Just wanted to let you know that they sell that Ozark Trail mug at Walmart in the USA for about five dollars. They are very high quality and mine has been going strong for many years in all sorts of campfires and stoves.
I have the exact same set up, except that I use a bandana instead of the coozie, since I can use it to strain water and also as a potholder, char-cloth, etc. You have the bandana inside the cup though.
I originally had it set up that way and cannot for the life of me remember why I switched it up. Heat retention maybe? There is a definite ebb and flow to this cook set. Thank you for the comment!
Nice. For me my cup nests INSIDE perfectly, instead of outside. I simply put my own bandana into the stanley, then my cup, fold the bandana into the second cup and then throw all the supplies inside the cup, shove the bandana down and on the top I have anywhere from 2-5 instant hot drinks, usually coffee and cider. I carry a lighter with duct tape on it inside, also have had a propane converter for years, a folding titanium spork, and a green scrub pad. Only stuff used for eating is in the kit and I consider it a backup lighter. Otherwise I have a medical bag (small) and a completely dedicated fire bag, which is a ferro and another lighter. Always 2 lighters in total and one ferro, I do NOT carry tinder other than duct tape which I've never really had to use. Never had a problem finding/making tinder even when it's soaked.
You have a nice presentation, as in you speak well and have your thoughts pretty well organized. You are knowledgeable on your topic. You aligned your camera well, something that I find extremely irritating on some channels, even those with thousands of subscribers. A couple of suggestions, make an outline or draft bullet points for what you want to convey in your video. If you need other equipment not within easy reach, make it readily accessible and immediately usable for your presentation. Pulling contents from an assembled kit is a little like opening Christmas presents and is entertaining as the viewer anticipates what is next; however reassembling the kit is just time consuming and unnecessary. Finally, you have a very pleasing personality and should do very well on RUclips. Good luck with your channel.
Thank you very much both for the kind words and the tips. I will be the first to admit I could use more organization when I make videos and life in general. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The only problem I see with the can coozy is that you can’t leave it on while heating things up, and you don’t want to wrestle it on when it has hot stuff inside. Great idea though, I have three Stanley cook sets because they’re that versatile.
I have some of that gorilla tape. That stuff is no joke! I would be very careful removing it from your xacto blade. All the other stuff I love it! I am going to do the same to my Stanley set. Great video. Hope to see more.
Yes! That gorilla tape is strong! Luckily, that blade should only be used in the direst of emergencies. I've almost always got a lockback and gerber dime multitool in my pocket if not a belt knife as well. Thanks for your comment!
I love mine. Bit narrow but it is a solid bit of kit and really packable with multiple types of stove. I use it all the time either directly in the fire or on a burner.
You hit on my one complaint, the bottom is very narrow. I have to be extremely careful when using the micro stove to cook with. Thanks for the comment and watching!
I use a MSR stove. For faster boiling times, use a pot with a wider footprint so the flame has plenty of surface to make contact with.. The tall/skinny Stanley pot is slower to boil water as the flame comes in contact with such a small bottom surface. I suppose it doesn't matter if you have extra fuel and aren't in a hurry.
100% agree. The biggest flaw in the entire set is the footprint of the cook pot. It would be better suited for small wood fire cooking. Thanks for the comment!
I have 2 of these Stanley Adventure sets and both have the GSI cups as well, I have placed a small cob lantern, fire tinder, fire steel, coffee ,instant soup & cordage in 1..the other is 1 of the green cups food and fire steel but I keep mine in smaller dry bags to allow room for a spoon and handkerchief- both of my Stanley's have several compressed T.P
Actually I think it might! After all, oven mitts and hot pads are just cloth with some extra padding to isolate you from the hot object. Excellent idea!
Quite honestly the thing I dislike the most about the Stanley cook pot. Why did they taper the bottom and make it so narrow? The cup does work much better on that specific stove especially!
Thanks for wising me up! The neoprene can cooler and the scrub pad are going to be new additions for me. I may remove the bottom of the neoprene cooler. The D-ring is a good idea for the lid just be careful after heating because the D-ring will get hot but you can remove the lid with a stick or blade.
I like to think we're all on this journey together. Thanks for the comment! I'm going to wait to put the D ring on until I eventually melt the plastic tab. It will happen!
There seem to be 2 very different reactions to the plastic tab on the lid: 1) "I hate that plastic tab, it melted the first time I put the kit into the fire, I replaced it with a (D-ring, key ring, piece of wire, etc.)". 2) "Never had a problem with the plastic tab, as long as you don't put the kit directly into the fire (keep it off to one side, not directly in the center) and keep the tab standing up, it doesn't have a problem. Had mine for of years, and it's still fine." I rarely use an open fire (I carry a Trangia-clone alcohol burner in the kit), so mine hasn't had a problem, but I can certainly see where an open fire could be a problem for it.
I had stomach issues in the past. All that would help was OTC meds but I wanted to fix the problem. A friend told me about papaya enzyme. These chewable tablets can be found at Walmart. My journey of healing also led me to fix the microbiom in my stomach. Cut out as much yeast, carbs and sugar you can and replace with fermented foods.
You may find the stickiness of the tape comes off on your exacto blade which will make it difficult to use when you need it. I had the residue on my Sail needle, it was a struggle to use it.
I hadn't thought about that but I know you're right. Especially if the kit has gotten hot at any point in time, which I know it has since it rides around with me everywhere. Thanks for the heads up!
in regards to preventing the blade from getting sticky, you can fold a small strip of paper around the blade, and then wrap the tape around the paper so when you open it the blade is clean. p.s. you can do the same thing with the needle as well.
Have seen some other vids about what people carry inside the Stanley cook pot. Seems like that addition would be good for a Get Home Bag or some other emergency condition. GSI has a 24 oz Glacier cup that fits the Stanley and water bottles.
I need to find me one of those GSI cups! I've got two of these setups. One in a military surplus haversack that stays in the wife's car and another that goes everywhere with me in a repurposed High Sierra hydration pack.
Not very much. I've gotten elitist with my coffee drinking so the instant is out and I'm working on incorporating a small hand grinder and pour over setup. So far I don't like what I've put together but I'm working on it!
Hi, I notice you said you suffer fro Acid Reflex, I used to suffer from it too severely. I use to lose my breath for 30-45 seconds every time I had an attack. I was treated at the hospital but nothing helped until one day my aunt told me to drink activated charcoal in water every day and to grab a potato and blend it in 2 cups of water and drink it every day. I did that for about one month straight plus a change my diet and ever since I’m cure from AR. That was 20 years ago I’m 47 now with no health issues thank God. Try it, you have nothing to lose but Acid Reflex. Hope this can help you or anyone with this problem. Cheers.
Thanks for the video. I like the way you displayed and presented the set. I'm going to be doing the same thing. However may I ask. Whats the name and make of the adapter for the Coleman fuel bottles to run your stove? I'm using an MSR Pocket Rocket 1. Would that adapter work for that stove?

What brand fuel canister are you using? Because i bought a 3oz (100g) Jet boil canister and the lip around the bottom is too big around and got stuck big time in the Stanley cup. Thank you
That is the size I use. I've never had an issue with it getting stuck until 10 minutes ago when I was trying to get it out to measure the circumference of the bottom. 😆😆😆 I got it out but it took some persuasion.
Im in the Uk. One of the reasons I bought the Stanley cookset is because I saw it on youtube and the gas canister fitted inside. IHowever in Europe it appears our canisters must be larger, as they will not fit inside the Stanley cookset.
Nice video. You can't beat those Stanley cook kits. Where did you get that adapter? That would be a nice option for me. I've been looking on line for that adapter but I'm not sure which one you showed in the video. If you could list a link I sure would appreciate it.

I don't know. I came across some chocolate covered coffee beans in a round tin with a screw off lid that might work. They were called Nudge coffee bombs. The tin is just a little bigger than the zoots tim and still fits in the Stanley.

I have both but the stanley weighs less. I agree though a wider pot is nice especially if you don't need to save the extra several ounces, and it's more natural to eat out of and just comfier
Not gonna argue with you there. The Stanley is awful precarious perched on top of that tiny stove and it's small footprint isn't as efficient boiling water as a larger pot.
It's a sad thing when life gets in the way of fun. I'm working on a couple of things but I need to carve out some time. I've got a couple travel ideas and some thoughts on cold weather driving I need to get done. Thanks for the comment and inspiration to get behind the camera!
Hello 🙋♂️ Ref: Struggling with your rubber bands !! I am sure you are aware that you could also use the “inner” rubber tube of a bicycle tyre - to cut it into various different lengths of bands that will allow you to wrap around your “tins” in order to make them completely waterproof !! If you cut the tube long enough - you can make your small tins completely waterproof and this will ensure they will never rust - even if you have a condensation challenge in your pack. Tiny, tiny little bit of talcum powder smeared over the object you are trying to give protection too will you some flexibility when positioning the bands around the objects you are trying to protect. The rubber also can double up as a cover for a finger dressing in case of an emergency 🆘 Also, if you are “struggling” to wrap them round - when your fingers are cold and wet, all you have to do is “dip” the cut bands into some hot water - that way the rubber becomes more flexible and you can easily wrap them around any of the circumference tins or plastic containers you are trying to keep dry !! Thanks 🙏 Take care 😷✌🏾 James 🏴
Hey James! Thanks for the tips! I complain about them being difficult but I like to think the tighter they are the better they'll work to keep incidental water out. Thanks for watching!

I would carry the stanley "cook set" with a traditional boy scout style mess kit.... The stanley can only boil water which is great if all you eat is stuff like mountain house on the trail. Me personally I dont its not cost effective and dont consider a Steel cup to boil water in a cook set.
Wow. I would've assumed the sizes would be fairly universal. The ones I use are 100g/3.5oz and measure 90mm/3.5 inch in diameter at the base. I've tried several different brands, snow peak, Primus, jetboil, and they all fit
Absolutely! I use this quite often just to make some instant coffee when I'm at work. I have another modification that will turn it into a French press. Vid coming soon!
Dear God💗❤️💕❤️💞🙏in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the , life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.

Cool kit you have there!
Thanks! Always trying to improve on it.
Cheers.
thank you for sharing!
This has a different name but is exactly the same.
MaotaLife Camping Stove Adapter - 1Lb Propane Small Tank Input and EN417 Lindal Valve Output Propane Canister Converter - Premium Quality Durable Construction - Detachable Stand Included a.co/d/dfb14gM
Like the set up. Where did you get the stove converter if you dont mind.
Lixada Camping Stove Adapter 1L Outdoor Propane Small Tank Input EN417 Lindal Valve Output $15 on Amazon. In reply to the same question CC gave a link to one for $9. Scroll through the comments for his link.
This is similar to the one I have.

I got it out but it took some persuasion.
Im in the Uk. One of the reasons I bought the Stanley cookset is because I saw it on youtube and the gas canister fitted inside. IHowever in Europe it appears our canisters must be larger, as they will not fit inside the Stanley cookset.
Z - 👍😁
Best wishes from Russia!
Whoa! I'm internationally famous! Thank you!
Wonder if you could cut the bottom of the Koozie off , slide it up to the edge of the lid/rim. Insulate it while boiling water ? Boil faster ?
That is 100% worth a try! Thank you for the suggestion!
I think it would melt rather quickly..good thought but you might ruin your cook set..try it with an old tin can 1st..
Nice video. You can't beat those Stanley cook kits. Where did you get that adapter? That would be a nice option for me. I've been looking on line for that adapter but I'm not sure which one you showed in the video. If you could list a link I sure would appreciate it.
Amazon, where the world shops. It was only about $9 too!

@@colockumcraft254 Thanks for the reply. I did find one. It's a nice option. Glad I found your channel. Enjoy and be safe out there! Oh, and Merry Christmas.
Thank you for watching! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year!
Nice video
Thank you!
Tks!, yes, we are all learning ....
Every day. Thanks for the comment!
Good stuff. Where can you get the Zoots tin (without buying the THC candy)? Thank you!
I don't know. I came across some chocolate covered coffee beans in a round tin with a screw off lid that might work. They were called Nudge coffee bombs. The tin is just a little bigger than the zoots tim and still fits in the Stanley.
Where do u find the adaptor?
Great video .
I got that off Amazon.

What size is the fuel canister I can’t find one locally that fits and would like to order one.
It is a 100g/3.5oz cannister. The bottom measures 90mm/3.5 inches in circumference.
Maybe add waterproof matches?
Excellent suggestion for a fire starting redundancy!
Great Video. I haven't found any ti y Altoids yet. But soon i fo i will copy that idea. Smart.
What size is that fuel canister ? I bought a butane one that looks like it 8.11 oz and it's too big..
They are 100g/3.5oz cannisters. They measure 3.5 inch/90mm diameter at the base. I hope that helps.
Cool. I like it . 👍
Nice kit. Have you tried changing diet for AR. Keto helped me, now doing more Paleo. Get rid of to many carbs in the diet.
Funny you should mention Paleo, I am currently transitioning to a more paleo lifestyle, lots of meat and veggies and less carbs and refined sugars. Shedding the pounds! Thanks for the comment!
Cool little set up I have the same Stanley cook cup I haven’t really used it much though I use the Stanley adventure cook kit check it out
The adventure cook kit is something I definitely want to try out one of these days. Almost grabbed one the last time I was at Walmart but my CFO was giving me the Don't You Dare eye. :-D
Thank you for the suggestion!
Nice video and I learned some nice hacks
I've got a couple of more I'd like to do yet. I'll post an update when I get them done!
Need to find that adapter for propane! thanks
I found it on Amazon. This is a similar version.

Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thanks for sharing all that ! Also, and out of curiosity, what did you end up doing with the green cups that came with the Stanley Cook Set ?
For me I put mine with my car camping stuff, because honestly they're pretty great little cups
I believe one is in the lid of my wide mouth Stanley thermos. Not sure where the other one got to.
Find a neoprene can cooler. They stretch enough so that you can slide it over the Stanley and then slide that into your GSI cup. No more rattles.
Excellent idea! I have incorporated that very idea into the kit. I will soon have another video of further modifications.
I wonder why Stanley likes throwing a spanner in the works. They have now changed the design to a much larger but not as tall pot 😔
Any way you can tell us what tank adapter that is?
It's one similar to this.
MaotaLife Camping Stove Adapter - 1Lb Propane Small Tank Input and EN417 Lindal Valve Output Propane Canister Converter - Premium Quality Durable Construction - Detachable Stand Included a.co/d/a7ilJjw
Nice kit.
Thank you! I take it pretty much everywhere. It usually gets used to make some coffee when I'm up getting firewood.
I have that cook set but I never use it, I find my small alpine pot much more useful for cooking food and boiling water
Any updates in 2024?
It's a sad thing when life gets in the way of fun. I'm working on a couple of things but I need to carve out some time. I've got a couple travel ideas and some thoughts on cold weather driving I need to get done. Thanks for the comment and inspiration to get behind the camera!
Hello 🙋♂️
Ref: Struggling with your rubber bands !!
The rubber also can double up as a cover for a finger dressing in case of an emergency 🆘
Also, if you are “struggling” to wrap them round - when your fingers are cold and wet, all you have to do is “dip” the cut bands into some hot water - that way the rubber becomes more flexible and you can easily wrap them around any of the circumference tins or plastic containers you are trying to keep dry !!
Thanks 🙏
Take care 😷✌🏾
James 🏴

My haversack is a Czech has mask bag I got a 2 for 1 deal so I bought it
I do like my military surplus! Thanks for watching!
I like my stanley cup.
I live in the UK,and bought this cookset because, you can keep the gas inside. Unfortunatly our gas canistersover here won't fit. Most anoyed/
Wow. I would've assumed the sizes would be fairly universal. The ones I use are 100g/3.5oz and measure 90mm/3.5 inch in diameter at the base. I've tried several different brands, snow peak, Primus, jetboil, and they all fit
Been watching loads of videos such as this. Makes no sense to not go this route ans build the kit the way you want it.
Amen.
Look up Rob Evans Woodsman on YT, you and he are very similar, he is Welsh and a good bush crafter, nice guy too
Thanks for the suggestion! If he's a good bush crafter then we aren't that similar :D but I will read into that and take it as quite a compliment. Thank you and thanks for the comment!
