The only problem I really have with this is the size difference. In the original beast wars when they showed Optimus primal near the original Optimus it was indicated that the autobots were generally much larger than the maximals.
That may be true. But that's because Beast Wars is set in the G1 era yet it also it own alternate continuity, because time traveling. Originally as descendents of the two faction where the Autobots win the war that eventually shrink down. Later variations they were tribes, smaller transformers who evolves as rebels against corruption, and as for this version they are from a future where the cybertronians survives and evolves on a sparkless planet. In other words, everyone prefers what they're intrigued in, Transformers continuity always gets messy any confused.
Not that well versed(I am pretty new to the franchise), but my headcannon for this alternate universe is that they did not downsize, instead they evolved to use an organic-esque/animal alternate modes instead of vehicles, since vehicles guzzle plenty of energy and is somewhat energy inefficient, while animals last in the wild for longer without consumption of energy.

They do use it to shield their bodies when they're on earth. In this new universe they probably didn't downsize because of their circumstance of having to fight against Nemesis and Galvatron forces, if they're smaller then they don't really stand a good chance against them or set the animal form to be the next evolution of Cybertronians since animals are less energy hungry than vehicles.
I remember back when the Maximals repaired Optimus Prime's face after it was damaged by the Predacon's Megatron in the old 3D animated show. Those transformers were actually smaller than them somehow.

The only Beast Wars characters to not follow this logic are obviously the two spiders, Rampage, Waspinator, and Scorponok as their robot forms are larger than the organisms they turn into. Personally I haven't been a fan of this BS scaling with the Autobots and Deceptions as Beast Wars clearly established the Maximals and Predacons as smaller.
Although it is cool to see the maximal back in action, it still feels lazy that we didn’t get to see Garry Chalk or Scott Mcneil reprise their roles. Even Peter Cullen and Garry Chalk have called Rooster Teeth’s decision to use non union actors as lazy which I completely agree with
@@Kaiju-bm4ts There's no mistreatment there as neither Hasbro, Allspark Animation or Netflix have any obligation to get any of the original voice actors for G1 or Beast Wars since those characters have bee voiced by other people since those shows aired. Both the Prime Wars Trilogy and WFC trilogy are not part of Sunbow, Marvel or Mainframe G1/Beast era continuities.

Ahh I love this scene so much. The maximals fighting in their beast modes and their updated designs is so awesome. Also I saw people complain about the maximals fighting the autobots here. If they pay attention they’d know why.

I would love to be shocked, but I just cant see them capturing things like rhynox's subtle pacifism, rat traps undying loyalty to himself even if he appears mutinous... dinobot... how can you hope to do that character any justice. megatron was honestly my least favorite character on the series. he was far too simple of a villain, no layers, no reasoning for his actions. scorpinok was fine as the loyal stupid flunkie bot, but megatron was a disappointment yes.... lol. at least waspinator got his arc finished in the end, now that is a good bot, starscream saw it too, just enough punch, super manuverable, just like G1 starscream. lastly, the size difference. I enjoyed the discovery of that, and the explanations (although limited). comes full circle back to can they make something new, while honoring the old. i know lots of people that detest beast wars for the simplicity alone. guess I had a unique love of it, being that I knew some of the animators and visited the studio. not trying to be a debbie downer here, I just cant see it... here is to hoping I am dead wrong.

Sadly Netflix didn't want to spring the cash for the og voices of characters, ether due to them being too expensive or some other reason

I was amazed when I saw the autobots and the maximals coming together. I had never imagined the original and the beast wars would join together like this during that time.
Why would the Maximals attack them? Primal is MUCH more strategic and thoughtful than that. He would at least look at the logo ALL of them have on their freaking chests before attacking them.
After watching kingdom 3 times Optimus Primal has really grown on me, the voice actor actually did a really good job at bringing him to life! Kudos to him on that!
They're the same height, and I don't know what to do about that. I liked the world building when Predacon Megatron looked at them and called them "Energon Guzzlers". Indicating their size made them inefficent for Energon supplies. Which would make sense in the continuity of this series, too, since they really play up the limited resource-thing. Also the fact that Autobots and Decepticons still exist in the Maximal and Predacon's future (granted they're Galvatron and Nemesis Prime, but still)...
The only way I can see this Is Optimus Primal got hit with several attacks to the point attacking first ask later became a priority But….if not that - it’s kind enough hard not to miss the autobot logo, the big red boss bot Optimus, and well…the big red boss bot Optimus…. Which makes the Maximals entrance as irrational as it was stupid - charging in to engage in melee in animal form? You have guns. And why bang your chest like some wild ape with no control… All of this easily could’ve been avoided - transform
Ok true, but in the original beast wars show due to the predacons screwing with the maximal ship they had to stay in beast mode or risk energon buildup and permanent stasis lock, so because of that they had trouble controlling their animal instincts and succumbing to it. The only maximal that wasn't affected by that was Tigatron as he spent most of his time away from the base so he was better able to understand what the others were going through. Although beastformers all though out the Franchise have had a similar issue, so it's not just confined to the beast wars. Besides would you expect a pack of animals to attack you out of nowhere?
It still goes against logic and reason - the big red autobot logo is a dead giveaway Then again - if Nemesis attacked them multiple times that ANY look alike is attack on sight - is understandable But the situation we are given doesn’t match up
This is animated nicely. My only issue is its the classic G1 designs. Seeing them in CGI really highlights how dated they are design wise. They don't need to be full on Bay either. Probably the best mix is inbetween like the stuff Alex Milne drew for the IDW G1 transformers, that very very solid hybrid, the bumblebee movie is another solid example.

Just taking the original designs and making them three dimensional doesn’t work without some serious attention to the style of everything like in the game Transformers Devastation. That’s why there needs to be something new and different while also keeping the most iconic parts of those original designs, just like the Bumblebee movie did. I have one question: Is there an explanation given in this series as to why the beast wars characters are the same size as the autobots? Because in their show, they’re at the same size more or less of humans. There’s even a part in their series in which they find the ark, and the Autobots and Deceptacon’s were massive in comparison to them.
In the og show they have this thing called "mass shifting", which is why they have the same size as the animals they transformed into even though their robot mode were huge... but mass shifting has not been a thing since the 90's so i guess that's what happened

That they’re going to be introducing the Maximals as robots, the same size as other transformers. I believe it was also explained that they evolve to be smaller and much more efficient o fuel
in that continuity, all Maximals/Predacons undergone downsizing to preserve energon usage. I'm guessing that did not happen in this continuity.

This is animated nicely. My only issue is its the classic G1 designs. Seeing them in CGI really highlights how dated they are design wise. They don't need to be full on Bay either. Probably the best mix is inbetween like the stuff Alex Milne drew for the IDW G1 transformers, that very very solid hybrid, the bumblebee movie is another solid example.

Just taking the original designs and making them three dimensional doesn’t work without some serious attention to the style of everything like in the game Transformers Devastation. That’s why there needs to be something new and different while also keeping the most iconic parts of those original designs, just like the Bumblebee movie did. This is just a fact and nostalgia doesn’t automatically make something good.

I have one question:
Is there an explanation given in this series as to why the beast wars characters are the same size as the autobots?
Because in their show, they’re at the same size more or less of humans.
There’s even a part in their series in which they find the ark, and the Autobots and Deceptacon’s were massive in comparison to them.
In the og show they have this thing called "mass shifting", which is why they have the same size as the animals they transformed into even though their robot mode were huge... but mass shifting has not been a thing since the 90's so i guess that's what happened

That they’re going to be introducing the Maximals as robots, the same size as other transformers.
Which I mean works for a giant, gorilla, and a T-Rex Megatron, but I don’t think it’s got the same punch for a giant rhino and a giant cheetah. Oh, and a giant hawk.

@@ariqsyafwan4987 Actually Beast Wars entirely ignored Mass Shifting because it made no sense. The animal modes were scaled to the robots, and only a couple of the characters scaled correctly to their animal mode by coincidence.
This season needed more episodes.
Also the original voice actors.

@@barrybend7189 because they didn't want to pay him. Hasbro avoided bringing back Union voice actors because they were being lazy and wanted to save money even though they had enough cash to pay all of them to voice the roles. It's not like the union voice actors were overly expensive either, Hasbro was just being a douche.
Clearly someone and by that I mean everyone don't pay attention in Cybertronian history class. Not recognizing the autobot insignia and not recognizing the face of one the most if not the most famous and well-known individuals in post modern Cybertronian times.
