From Dabney Coleman on down everybody reacting to this absolute roller coaster ride is incredible. And the absolute pandemonium this man has caused and he's got everybody in the palm of his hand. Great great film. What a nutty hospital lol
BRAVO!!! to Doris Belack who played Rita Marshall. She is remembered for her roles in many of our daytime soaps...Another World, The Doctors, The Edge of Night and (my favorite) One Life To Live as Anna Woleck Craig. Rest in Peace Doris Belack, October 4, 2011 🙏
She also played in an episode of The Golden Girls as Dorothy's sister in Season 1 episode 12 "The Custody Battle"! She reminded me a little of actress Nancy Dussalt.
A year later in real life, the soap Search for Tomorrow had to do an episode live for the first time in 16 years - apparently the tape and the backup tape got lost. For a time, the soap got a lot of publicity for having to unexpectedly do an episode live. I'm wondering if the tapes really got lost or this was a publicity stunt inspired by this scene?
This scene and the discussion that Pollack and Hoffman have in the office (when George says to Michael that he's pain in the ass to work with) are one of the best moments in cinema history.
The soap opera is clearly based off General Hospital, which was riding a wave of popularity at the time because of Luke and Laura, and this is totally something you’d expect from a soap because they totally got insane for a period (especially Days of Our Lives in the 90s). I think some real soaps have tried to pull off a reveal like this and failed to make it as memorable as this
Maybe a little, but only in the fact that General Hospital AND South West General BOTH are centered around life at the hospitals themselves. Actress Doris Belack, who plays Rita Marshall also played Anna Woleck Craig from the soap One Life To Live. She starred in other soaps too... namely, Another World, The Doctors, and The Edge of Night, respectively. What an appropriate honor it was to see her in Tootsie! Rest in Peace, Doris Belack, October 4, 2011 🙏❤️
After all the times I watched this as a young teen in the '80s when this aired nearly nonstop on cable, how did I NOT realize Bill Murray was in this until just NOW?! 😲
My favorite scene from the 1982 Sydney Pollack hit comedy film. i would truly like to see a twenty-first century retooling of 'Tootsie' starring Adam Sandler as Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels. There is absolutely no doubt that the essence of 'Tootsie' is inherently Jewish. Boy have i always loved Jewish humor. in addition to Sandler, my 'ideal' supporting cast for the retooling of 'Tootsie' would include: Jennifer Lawrence as Julie Nichols; Katherine Heigl as Sandy Lester; Jason Segel as Jeff Slater; Paul Giamatti as Ron Carlisle; Tina Fey as Rita Marshall; Amy Poehler as Jacqui; Robert De Niro as John Van Horn; Anne Hathaway as April Page; John Goodman as Les Nichols; Rosario Dawson as Jo; Zach Braff (director) as George Fields; etc. "i'm Edward Kimberly, the [reclusive] brother of my sister Anthea!" Sandy Lester's reaction @ 03:05 - PRICELESS.
ONE of the BEST moments in ALL cinema...
Really?? Come on…
3:28 “THAT is one, nutty hospital.” Bill Murray.
Bill Murray is zany!
my go to quote line when encountering an unbelievable situation.
One of the funniest scenes in all of filmdom.
A scene like this today would go instantly viral and be RATINGS GOLD for the network!! LOL
Lol I love Bill Murray's response
Best line of the entire movie.
'En este hospital están todos más locos que una cabra.' (Castilian Spanish)
Oh God here come the terms…..
Teri Garr's reaction priceless! what a reveal!!!
I love her shriek of horror. Such a brief scene, yet so memorable.
The woman who plays the floor director was also The Chief on "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?"
Just fantastic acting by Dustin Hoffman. Great movie never get bored watching it🇬🇧
It is the perfect screenplay!

Funniest movie I ever saw in my life loved it.

I recognize her as the doctor from the asylum in What About Bob.
She is a favorite. Always love to see her.
Always loved this hilarious film with a superb cast and the reveal always cracks me up

'Oh no , here comes the terms' 😅😅
Best scene in the movie !! Love this movie one of the best and funniest 😁
“No, ah am NOT Emily Kimberly! AH’M EDWARD KIMBERLY!” That instant when his voice drops back into Guy Register-GOAT reveal. Totally.

OMG still love this i miss Dorothy
3:02 the moment when I’m coming out the closet.
This is on tcm tonight! First saw this at the Chestnut Theater in San Francisco when it first came out
Dustin Hoffmann , sensacional!

I love this movie so much.
So do we.
I knew there was a reason she didn't like me 😂😂
The breakdown.... its hilarious! Sarge
I almost PISSED MYSELF laughing!!!
One of the funniest movies I had ever seen.
"Uh oh, here come the terms."
Dabney Coleman is so freaking terrified right now, it’s hilarious to the ninth degree.

“Don’t-don’t-don’t-don’t panic.”
Great movie. I love Robin Williams but this movie makes Mrs. Doubtfire look like a bad joke.
I would start watching soap operas again if they were live.
No chance. You could try watching reality television, though. I heard that's kind of live.

Well, while there isn't the retooling you described, there IS the musical with Santino Fontana as Michael/Dorthy.
@@KingdomHeartsFan3211 i simply hope that there will be a cinematic retooling of the original 1982 Sydney Pollack film.
Oh I think you should take this comment and send it in to someone in the Movie profession.
😊😊😊😊😊
LMAO
God. Here come the terms.
Never saw that movie. He did make a homely woman though...
“My momma said, my momma said “
The funniest part of this for me -- 2:00
😂😂😂
😆🤣😂
Good childhood memories.
😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅
3:02 Me After Shedding My Disguised As A Lola Of My Dream Girlfriend
Vague, cryptic tape title... Why omit TOOTSIE?
Perhaps because Tootsie was the director's disrespectful nickname for Dorothy.
Simple. IP. The uploader wanted it to stay uploaded. Great hindsight considering this was put here in '08.
Dwaaaayne
I'll....be...damned.
he almost got arrested for impersonating a woman
Greatest movie of all time.!!!!.
this movie made me be the drag queen i am in Brussels 🤩🤩
3:02
3:27
It was a funny but mindlessly stupid film, and this scene is so ridiculously acted to be a perfect summation.
Sooo śtupid and over acted. I thought it then and it’s just insipid seeing it now. 🙄
