Hi Trevi for the first option did you mean to say that you are using a raspberry PI for that setup as well? Is it possible to use Raspberry Pi3 A+ for this first diagram?
I think you should be okay. Check the hardware requirements at falconchristmas.com Your PI will be running the FPP which will be sending the sequence to the Falcon Controller. The lastest version for the FPP is 6.2
@@trevilights Only issue is that the A+ doesnt have a Ethernet port. Is there a way around that to get it connected to the wifi without the ethernet cable
Hey Trevi, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I actually just received my f16v4 controller and I am doing a megatree, signing christmas tree, 2 spinner, 3 snowflakes and 6 arches. All bought from boscoyo and also have 2 receiver from falcon. What would you recommend for port setup? I was thinking 1 receiver to the megatree for 1600 pixel, 1 receiver to singing tree and the controller port to the arches. I just can't seem to figure out what would be the best options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey R Pra. Congratulations! Welcome to the Club. I guess one of the main thing to look for is the distance between the controller and your elements. My cable runs are no longer than 25 feet, so I find easier to send it directly from my controller. In my case I have port 1 and 2 for my Mega tree (1200 pixels). Port 3 for the 3 singing bulbs. Port 4 for my Matrix. Port 5 for snowflakes. Port 6 for candy canes and port 7 for the singing tree. I try to keep it simple. Since I still have free ports, I do not worry about optimizing Channels. Good luck!
@@trevilights thank you! Watching too many videos gets pretty confusing when everyone talks about running 1 controller for megatree and seperate everything else with additional controller. I guess for 1600 pixels I may need to run 4 ports and they will be approx 25 ft and I also purchased some amp booster to keep signal strong. Several videos state you can't go over 200 pixel and that's where I get stuck. l'll try it out this weekend and see how it goes and have to mess with Xlights since each port would be 400 lights I'll have 4 ports to play with. I'm still trying to figure out where to get the songs for sequencing and not sure if I need to download it from somewhere or what to do.
@@rpra7392 Yes, It can be confusing. For your 1600 pixel tree you will need two ports. Each will run 800 pixel. Choose port 1 and 2 for this setup. How many stands are you planning to have and how many pixels per strand? 32 x 50? If so, change the setting of your tree to be.. 2 Strings, 800 pixels per string, 16 Strands each string. @@trevilights definitely! I am doing 16 strands with each 100 pixel so I was thinking to do 1 port per 400 pixel, but if it can hold 800 pixel then I can definitely go that route as well. Hi I followed your video to make the pi in wifi but I do not get the wifi symbol after refreshing? It still says FPP (eth0: ip address) do I need my falcon controller connected?
Hi Richard, You do not need the Falcon controller at this point. If you follow the instructions from minute 22:10 you should be good. When setting the IP address for wlan make sure your are selecting DHCP and that you select the correct Wifi and password. Otherwise it will not connect.
Hey, Trevi. I recently had to change my wifi network name and password. Unfortunately, I didn't change that information in the PI beforehand. How do I get back into the PI so I can make those changes. As always, thank you.
One solutions in to plug it to your router using the ethernet port. Then, using xlights FPP Connect, you find the FPP ethernet IP address to connect to it and reset the WIFI settings.

Is this using WAN or LAN? Try to set everything back to it's original state. Few questions. You are connecting the PI to a router. The same router you are connecting to with your computer using WIFI or cable, correct? Did you try typing "FPP" in your browser URL line?

Hi there. You can set your Falcon to player mode and run you sequences for an SD on the controller. You will need an Audio Board to play the music. Make sure you get one. I made a video on this.
Using the F16V4 in Player Mode
ruclips.net/video/kndYGok8YCw/видео.html
Great THANK YOU.
Hi Trevi for the first option did you mean to say that you are using a raspberry PI for that setup as well? Is it possible to use Raspberry Pi3 A+ for this first diagram?
I think you should be okay. Check the hardware requirements at
falconchristmas.com
Your PI will be running the FPP which will be sending the sequence to the Falcon Controller. The lastest version for the FPP is 6.2
BTW, The interface will look very different from this video.
@@trevilights Only issue is that the A+ doesnt have a Ethernet port. Is there a way around that to get it connected to the wifi without the ethernet cable
@@rashmedo No, you need an ethernet port. No other way.
@@trevilights In that case is a beaglebone an option to use with a falcon controller. Is that even compatible with a falcon ?
@josegalvan @ trevilights
Saludos.
could i just put a controller outside and run a cable to it to controller my pixels
Yes. You will need power and a network cable from your router. Or go wireless as I explain in one of my videos. Whatever works better for you.
That's all you need to do. If you get stuck with your setup, you can hire my time in .. trevilights.com. We can chat over a Zoom meeting for 30min.
@@trevilights definitely! I am doing 16 strands with each 100 pixel so I was thinking to do 1 port per 400 pixel, but if it can hold 800 pixel then I can definitely go that route as well. This is my 1st year and I am bit late but hoping to have a nice show for my community. BTW, I subscribed to your channel as your videos have been the most helpful one then others.
@@rpra7392 Glad to help. Are you do a 180 degeee tree or a 360? 16 strands are too few for a round tree.
gracias por tus videos son muy buenos
una pregunta porque cambiastes el ip adress de 10.0.1.85 a 10.0.0.85
esto me tiene confundido
muchas gracias
Hola Jaime.
I did all you did. But my Pi did not seem to boot? Any suggestions
Hey Richard, see if you can connect a monitor to the HDMI port so you can look for error messages. Plug it to your TV.
Do you see leds blinking? Type Http://fpp.local on your browser after a few minutes. Is your PI connected to your home router?
Was plugged into ether port on network extender. Seemed to do nothing. No signal on tv
@@mintysweb plugged to power? You should at least see some some Leds light up in the PI when you plug it to the power and some boot sequence on your TV.
I get a red led and thats all
@@mintysweb You should see green led blinking during the boot sequence. Try removing the SD card and retry. Weird. I hope you did not got a broken PI. My knowledge on PI is very limited. Work for me on the first try. What model of PI you got? Google about starting your model for the first time.
@@trevilights Awesome and very helpful. I will give that a try. Thank you Trevi!!
Hey Trevi,
I don't know what I did wrong but when I connect the raspberry pi to the router through the ethernet cable and open the browser no data is going through.
Do you have any idea why ?
Have you installed the OS and Falcon player into the sd card? If so. It take a few minutes. The open browser and type fpp into the http bar.
Hey Trevi,
Hope all is well.
I'm setting up the fpp. In the outputs page when I enter 1 in the outputs count a warning came up.
It says WARNING, universe outputs are active, but the primary channel output is disabled. No data will be sent.
Do you know what this means and what I should do?
All good here, thanks. In the E1.31 setup page, next to the title there ia small checkbox that should be enabled. It says Output.
@@trevilights 👍Thanks that worked.
The source Interface can i have it wlan0 for using the wifi?
hi Trevi
I did set up my controller first and then I did the falcon player exactly like you are doing it .
everything works fine but the problem I have now after disconeting the controller from the internet and connecting it to the PI I cant access the controller with the same IP address when I was doing it ,am able to access the flacon player (PI) but not the controller.
what am I doing wrong?
If you followed my video you should had assigned a new static IP for your controller in a secondary network with ip like X.X.1.X. That is now you new Ip and should be accessible after you plugged it to the PI. The PI should be on.
By the way. The oled screen on the falcon should have the ip address to connect to it.
@@trevilights I redid everything and am trying the IP address I got when first connect to wireless still cant open page for the controller I even put the IP address from the oled that is showing witch by the way its different from the one I got in the sitting and still cant get access .
there is something wrong and I cant figure it out .
note:am putting this as a standalone unit in the set up .
@@mourisyounan9998 is the controller plugged to the PI with the ethernet cord? The worst case scenario is.. manually change the IP to what is was before using the buttons next to the oled screen is very simple...and plug it back to your router. Remeber that if you did everything as I showed you will have to used the NEW controller IP address which should have a 1 in the second position from right to left. The IP ethernet IP should also have a 1 in the second position. Restart both devices.
@@trevilights yes the controller plugged with ethernet cord.
am following your vedio step by step and everything is the same, exept when you are on the page where you set the universe its showing me this message:
Enable e1.31/artnet/DDP output : (- WARNING, universe outputs are active, but the primary channel output is disabled. No data will be sent.)
LOVE YOUR RUclips VIDEO'S TREVI. HOW DO I SET UP A 2ND CONTROLLER. I WOULD LIKE TO PAY AND SET UP A ZOOM MEETING WITH YOU.
Hola Juan. All you will need to do to setup a 2nd controller is to assign it another IP Address(obviously). You can then decide what plays on each controller. The Raspberry PI will play two sequence simultaneously. I am planning to get a second controller. I'll be making a video on this topic soon.
@@trevilights Trevi, sorry i didn't ask my question with more detail. I have 6 controllers and was thinking of runing my show off a PI 4. Was able to enter the outputs for 1 controller but do not see how to add the other 5 controllers.
Great Video Thank You
Thanks John. I can tell you are working on something nice for this year. I am glad you are starting now. It takes time to get it perfect. I am also preparing my new show ahead of time.
All I get is flash failed , no matter how many cards I use ,
Trevi it is me again. sorry for all the correspondence I hope I'm not keeping you from other things. I can't log on or bring up the falcon player on my computer. When I put the IP address in it keeps taking to cannot connect or it takes me to a private IP address page with several sites to look at the IP address I used
Is this using WAN or LAN? Try to set everything back to it's original state. Few questions. You are connecting the PI to a router. The same router you are connecting to with your computer using WIFI or cable, correct? Did you try typing "FPP" in your browser URL line?
Connect the PI using an Ethernet cable to your router. Restart PI. Restart you computer also. Give it 5 minutes. Open your browser in your computer and try entering FPP in the web address of your browser.
