Trevi, I really appreciate your videos. They are simple easy to understand, you present them extremely well. This is my first year and you have made it much less stressful with your insightful videos. Keep them coming. Thanks.
Hey Larry. Thank you so much for your word. I am glad you find them useful. Thanks for watching. All my best wishes to you. Keep safe. Good luck with your project.
My pleasure Jack. In a few days I am going to upload one video about power consumption and power injection. It will help you decide where to inject power to your elements for a great show.
Yes, but the configuration starts on the xlights sequence which determines to which controller the data is goto be sent. Also, you need to add the second controller on the channels Output section on the FPP.
Hi Trevi, the video is very thorough and easy to follow. Thank you very much. I have a falcon controller and just added kulp controller this year. I use a dedicated laptop for my show and uses xschedule for show time. For some reason the models connected to the falcon controller lights up but none of the models connected to the kulp lights up during the scheduled show. Any idea how to make fpp respond to xschedule or do I have to make a separate schedule in FPP for the for kulp board models? It seems odd that I have to run two separate scheduler. Thanks for you assistance
Hey Randy, I must admit that I am not a fan of using xschedule to run a show, but is a good start. I would recommend using the FPP in the Kulp controller to run your show. The FPP is a robust scheduler and will make more sense that running from a laptop. Like I said, I do not know much about xscheduler and it setting, but check the following. In xlights, make sure that you added the Kulp in your list of controllers. When you do this, you will see the range of channels that the Kulp will use. On your Layout, make sure the elements that are connected to the Kulp are mapped to those channels. In the Kulp, On the Channel Input section add an entry accepting those same channel range as in xlights. Also, in the Kulp on the Port definition check for the range of channels. It's tricky to work with two controllers. Again my recommendation will be to use the FPP on the Kulp as your main show scheduler. Good Luck.
Your videos is very helpful. I set up my FPP for this year but uploaded the fseq directly to FPP. I set set up the schedule but the raspberry is not playing it on the time I set it for. Am I missing any step. I followed the video. Thanks
Hi Abby, let's start with the obvious, check the clock of the FPP and make sure is correct. Make sure your shedule is marked as Active. Also restart hte FPP Deamon. You can also delete your schedule and create a new one, maybe there is something wrong with that schedule.
The new Falcon Controller F16V4 can aslo play a sequence directly for a SD card that goes in the controller. No need to have a Falcon Player on a Raspberry Pi.
@@trevilights oh ok. But I just started with this project and I only use esp8266 as a controller for now. Im still waiting for the dig quad I ordered and I think they have the same platform. I don’t have a budget for a bigger and better controller for now. 😊
Yes, xlights includes a simple scheduler that will allow you to play sequences from your computer. You will need to gave the computer on during the playback.

Hi John. I have never worked with the PI's GPIO's or the sainsmart controller. In my case the PI's is only been used as a Host for the Player software. Sorry I cannot be of much help.
Hi Trevi, As always an excellent video! However, I have a question, is it possible to add several songs to your show like one after another or does that have to be done prior to starting a new show like in an audio program like Audacity or something along those lines? Thanks for your help!
Hey there. thanks for watching. The Falcon Player allows you to create different playlist with any number of sequences in them. You can even have a start song and an end song for every playlist. You can also schedule different playlist on different days and times.
Hi DiyVic, Thanks for watching. There a few places where you can buy them. Just google some like ..xlight christmas sequence. Keep in mind that whatever you buy, it is going to need some customizing to fit your display. I have a few for sale at ..trevilights.com My sequence are mostly for singing figuras.
Hey Trevi Ok I'm uploading a sequence to the fpp. I followed all your steps in this video. When i go to play the sequence all i get is audio the lights won't go on. Can you help? If i play the sequence through xlights all is good.
Hey Danny, I assume that you have the FPP connected to the Falcon Controller with a Ethernet cable or both are connected to the same router. Check the following. In the FPP go to the Channel Outputs and in the E1.31 tab check that you have all the universes defined and that Unicast Address is the Falcon controller address. At the end of each line there is a button labeled "PING". Click it as see if the FPP can see the IP Address. If not, then something is wrong with you network setup.
Hey Trevi Awesome channel!! I have a question. Is there a way to make a playlist in Xlights and play it in the sequencer so you can see how it's going to look all together?

Hey John. My "falcon Player Initial Setup" explains it. ruclips.net/video/yqXK5p1eRM4/видео.html If the installation went fine, then just plug an Ethernet cable from the PI to the back of your Home Router/Wifi and restart the PI. Hi Dave. Thank you so much for watching my video and for your kind words. You can load sequences, music and video files. You can play them in the order you want. You can even connect a TV to the PI's HDMI port and play a video. About xlights, many of the available effects have a random setting which will cause the effect to generate different effect. Besides the drag and drop of the effect into the timeline is fairly simple. You can create a very nice sequence in just a few minutes.
Hi there. Thanks for watching my videos. Let me clarify one thing here. The only way to store sequences in the Falcon controller is to setup the controller as a "Player" and insert a formated SD card in the card slot. To setup the controller to be a "Player", go to the Status page and select Standalone Player in the Controller mode option. Restart the controller. After restating, you will see a new menu option called "Player". Here you can upload and create a playlist. Unfortunately, when you set the controller to be a player, you will not be able to play sequences from xlights anymore. You can always set the controller back to E131/Arnet mode to play sequences from xlights.
Usually, a Raspberry Pi is used to store and play the sequences using the Falcon Player software. All the sequences will be store in the Raspberry Pi and will be connected to the controller using an ethernet cable.
Jack, Sequences get uploaded to the Falcon Player (Raspberry PI) not the Falcon Controller. The Falcon controller does not stores any data about your show. The Falcon player is second device that stores the sequences, playlists and schedules and sends the data to the Falcon controller.
