Well. I've been trying to figure out how to address the Romgess ending and how to vid it and how to feel. It's taken some time and I've gone through a gamut of emotions, but I think I've reached a mature place. (Or as mature as I can get considering I lost Charles Vane, Derek Morgan, Lincoln, and Sean Roman from my TV shows...I'm still a little bitter). Anyway, I'm really happy with how sad/bittersweet/nostalgic this video turned out. The song tied my thoughts and feelings together nicely with their story. Whatever else they do with Burgess on the show, at least we can be happy knowing Romgess was a beautiful, complicated, and sweet ship. I don't regret shipping them for a minute and I'm not going to stop thinking they were perfect just because Brian Geraghty left the show. I am comforted by the fact that Roman didn't die and I'll hold out hope for him to return at some point. Because hope is a thing with feathers and all that.
Now, here's where my maturity comes in: I recognize that the writers are going to put Burzek back together. Honestly, I never expected anything else and I'm just happy they gave us as much Romgess as they did. And really, I'm happy that Roman left while loving Burgess and that they didn't have a fight to break up or anything shallow that would demean them. Their relationship was too based in friendship and respect for that. Speaking of that respect thing--wanting Burgess to come with him, but in the end respecting that she needed to stay where she was to be happy? That made me cry with relief and agony and joy at the same time. Too few guys understand that a woman's place is not to uproot and follow his whims. To the end, Roman understood her and treated her as an equal more than Ruzek ever did.
NOW. I'm not here to bash Ruzek, just as I never have been. I always liked his character and only started to resent him thanks to his rocky character development this season. By the end of the season, with his sad eyes in the courtroom and the Roman handshake, the writers seem to have him back on track as a sympathetic character who might even be maturing. If they stick with that next season? If he goes back to being goofy and lovable, but also develops enough maturity to win Burgess back? I'm totally fine with it. It doesn't mean I'll jump ships and start vidding Burzek, but I'm resigned to it and comfortable with the idea. Plus, even if he has hasn't done much to deserve it lately, I don't deny that Burgess loves him too. It's hard to end love, even if his bad boy/lack of commitment persona doesn't seem to deserve it.
So, thanks for reading that essay if you happened to and thanks for watching this video. Hopefully it doesn't seem too sad, even though it is a little bit. Focus on the light and beauty of Romgess and rejoice that Burgess didn't kill him (*ahem*, Vaneeleanor), Roman didn't get shot in the head (*sob*, Linctavia), and they didn't rush his exit into him leaving his job because he go married and his wife was shot all in one episode (*cough cough*, Criminal Minds).

I absolutely hated the way the writers built Burgess and Roman's relationship up just to have it be burned to the ground. I also hated the way the suddenly ended their relationship. I was so happy to see them finally get together and this happens... Ugh... But anyway, I really liked your vid! It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!
I definitely felt bitterness for a long time. BUT, in the end, I decided I'm happier they did it this way--what with Brian wanting to leave the show--rather than killing Roman or making them have an ugly falling out. At least this way, Romgess will always be a beautiful ship and there's some kind of chance Roman could return some day.

I totally agreed with you! The writers made a big mistake to mess up the story about Burgess and Roman they deserve to one another! Rather than to Adam who hurts and disregarded her feelings.

I became a fan of Chicago PD recently, but I was definitely captivated by this beautiful couple. I don't know why so many people prefer Ruzek when he has proven to be immature and uncommitted in his relationships. It's a shame Roman dropped out of the series, he and Burgess were made for each other.

I really love ruzek and burgess with Makayla rn but I really miss the fun relationship between these two I always look up at this edits even though we r on season 11 now and all the old characters left because time is moving on now sadly and even though I love burgess and Atwater finally being in intelligence together intelligence wasn’t how it was before I wish tht burgess and Roman had longer together but I’m still grateful for burzek and ruzek stepping up for Kim and jus imagine when ruzek was with hailey they could’ve both been together at the time to we jus didn’t get enough time to watch these two together and every time I see this edit it reminds me of 2015 and 16 how I miss the other characters and patrol be in a huge part in Chicago pd now it’s jus all abt intelligence

I hated what happened to Burgess and Roman relationship! They deserve to be with each other. The writer made a big deal mistake to let them apart.And much like Roman he really are a good cop and best boyfriend material.
