- Lindsey who is investigating a robbery and assault case visits the victim until she finds the true culprit is in the house with her. Will Halstead and intelligence be able to save her in time.

Mills and Brett are kidnapped by thugs while on a call. Firehouse 51 teams up will the Intelligence unit to track down their whereabouts. It is later revealed that the kidnappers were involved with a previous call with Mills. Elsewhere, Hermann bonds with Boden while his newborn son is fighting for his life in the ER.

I legit burst out laughing when the first guy got shot mid sentence. It's so typical to have this drawn out hostage situation, so when Halstead just shoots the guy immediately is so satisfying. He warned the guy, and he told him twice to put the knife down. So when he didn't, and in fact threatened to kill his hostage, he signed his own death sentence. Halstead: I haven't got time for this!
Bad guy: "you wanna see..." *BANG*

Just like the late Shawn Connery once said: When he pulls a knife, you pull a gun.
The problem is you want only the bad one death, not the other one. Sometimes that's difficult.

there's tactical logic to it. immediacy of muscle response is dampened during speech due to diversion of cognitive resources. remember the end scene in 'Taken' where Liam Neeson's character clips the old man holding his daughter just as the guy goes into a rant.

Well you gotta remember that their friend was in danger, they were probably panicking so just wanted to get inside as soon as possible.
Might not be realistic but you can understand why the characters acted the way that they did.
