Thanks for a nice, short and focused comparison. Not sure if age should hold one back as I am considering one of these at 73. Why? It's the right size SUV for a retired couple :)
I agree with the hosts that the Nissan Kickz as the winner. Disappointing that neither has AWD which already alientates a bunch of consumers that live in snowy areas but getting the top of the line Kickz at $23k is a bargain. The Toyota CHR base starts at around $23k-24k. I've seen the cargo area in the CHR and it's extremely small. Toyota made a huge mistake in favoring style over practicality.
I live in Wisconsin and I can tell you, good tires and good driving sense matter a whole lot more than awd/4x4 in the snow. Smart buyers will chose 2wd vehicles over awd vehicles because they are cheaper to buy, usually more fuel efficient, cheaper to insure, and with less moving parts - usually more reliable too. The only reason to ever own a 4x4 vehicle is if you go rock crawling or plow your own driveway, otherwise its just an utter waste of money.
When i was out shopping for new car, test drove both. Kicks offered so much more for the money. Finaled the deal but dealer couldn't get a kicks for me and wait times were over 3 months. Since i had to get the car asap i went with CHR instead. Pros and cons in both but kicks offers way more for the money. Worth every penny
@@amylunis1556 i didnt drive on hwy but in city it was super responsive. We were 3 people in the car when we test drove it. The seats are very comfy, the cabin is well lit compared to C-hr which is super dark. The car itself is super light so the engine response is pretty decent
Thanks for responding! I actually test drove it on the highway today and it's awfulll lol. The acceleration, you can feel every bump on the road etc. You dodged a bullet!
@@amylunis1556 ah that sucks..its nice car but failed by a poor powertrain. Did you check out the new Kia Seltos and Hyundai Venue? They seem to be a good option for a small crossover with a low price tag. On my list would be the Hyundai Kona, Seltos, Venue, CX-3 and HRV
I am actually looking for a sub-compact SUV and CHR was on top of my head but I was bit disappointed with the price, considering mileage and value of money matter a lot to me. But now I am considering Nissan Kicks too just because of the price and gas mileage. But I am still confused lol
@@SirManfly I bought mine in 2019 in Georgia.... Great car... But.. the first question you should ask ... What's there return policy on a new car??? I may the mistake and didn't ask... Kicks is very reasonably priced and 35mpg highway with lots of bells and whistles. Front wheel drive and good tires is fine for snow. Front wheel drive is cheaper to maintain
I wanted to go look at the Jeep Renegade but I was worried about It being reliable. I looked at the Kia Soul also. I went with the 2019 Kicks . For small SUV. It's not bad on gas at all. It takes me approximately 17 to $19 to fill it up from empty. Good luck. I hope you found what you were looking for.
Automakers would be happy to sell these SUVs for more money compared to subcompact cars ... I prefer the Kicks for its more 'conventional' attributes, but no AWD so it might be good as a second vehicle.
Warranty is the same, 3 year/ 60k, 5 year/100K. $5000 savings, or more if financing, goes a long way in any possible future repairs. If concerned, buy extended warranty. Throw in Android Auto, 360 surround cam, premium Bose stereo and way more cargo space.; makes a compelling case for the Kicks. Choices is good; let the buyer decide with their hard earned money. For $29,000, like the reviewers said, there are even more choices.
You can’t compare those two cars. They are quite different. CH-R is bigger and stronger. It should be compared with the Kona and Honda HRV. Btw, the Toyota is better than those two. The Kicks is in a class of its own.
2019 and you get drum brakes in the Nissan Kicks. Drum brakes. Oh but it's "hip" and its torsion beam handling is so "lively" and "fun" so nevermind its great. Who knew you could get that much money for a slower, less useful Versa.
Pretentious street racer at it again. Poo-pooing on every Kicks video again. Why don't you go poo-poo on the 2019 Corolla videos, and complain about it's drum brakes and torsion beam suspension, asking for even more money? Only idiots make unsubstantiated comments without first hand experience.
I actually agree with you about the drum brakes. That's utterly disappointing especially in 2019. Torsion beam rear is not the greatest but it's not that terrible. They had to cut cost somewhere.
I have a 2021 chr xle. i traded out of a nissan frontier. i will never again own a nissan, the quality isnt any where near a toyota. good luck with you kicks, the transmission will fail, most at less than 50k miles.
I have a Versa it has been good pratical and roomy, don't like the CVT, I would contemplate a kicks if it had a traditional automatic or a manual, done with the CVT.

The Kicks looks so stylish and compact. That huge starting price difference puts the other car out of range for me.

@charles lemon law actually means the dealership has to take it back after numerous attempts to fix it.
please do a comparison of Nissan kicks vs Toyota Rush
Two tone paint jobs have been abandonned by auto manufactures for far too long.

Yes, AWD would be a nice perk!
Would their winning choice be the same if someone expected to be keeping the car for at least ten years?

No adaptive cruise control in the Kicks rules it out for many of us.

Both cheap and ugly af. Respect yourself and get the new Soul or CX 30.
Kia is cheap lol
Holy fuck the Soul is ugly as sin. Get a PT cruiser while you're at it.
That’s laughable because you cannot even compare Mazda,Hyundai or Kia to a Toyotas build quality is far superior to the Kia product.
Nissan is junk

CVT is a deal breaker for some. Dat drone.
