it's true, most of us didn't even know he was ill - especially those of us who weren't super-huge fans or into reading tabloid gossip. The Internet was still several years away and so things just didn't spread around nearly the same. I was 17 at the time and news of his death was a shock to me (though if I'd read the paper from the day before it perhaps wouldn't have been quite so much). It was only the day before he died that he publicly announced his illness. Until then Queen still seemed to be banging out the hits (though with hindsight, the clues were certainly there). Slash commented on the early 90s hat Brian was one of the few guitarists he likes playing with as he is capable of being badass enough to match and battle.
I received the 'Innuendo' album (cassette) for Christmas from my parents the year it came out. I was already a Queen fan (more in terms of the 'hits' and whatnot, thanks to my older sister, whom had the greatest hits) but this song (& album) BLEW MY MIND! This song has taken the paradigm of my #1 Queen song, still...it is completely epic in all possible ways, musicianship, vocals, power, symbolism, meaning... you name it! This album was their swan song (I know they released Made In Heaven posthumously after Freddie's passing, but this was complete!!) - what a farewell! Great reaction. God Save The Queen!!
Yeah he did Freddie controls the crowd at least he did me, I couldn’t take my eyes off of him . I saw them in San Diego 1975 and 76 , Freddie had long hair first time and short the next show. ROCKED THE HOUSE . 🇺🇸🎸
One of my preferred songs ever. A true masterpiece with lyrics that represent so much what was going through Freddy's mind during this period of his last year on Earth, and he knew it. Great reaction! --------------- I would like to make 2 special suggestions almost no one will give you: 2 bands: The Warning: start with "survive" at TedX, and then "21st century blood" official video. They have a new song called "dust to dust" which is incredible. Motion Device: "thick skin" and then "doves and snakes'. There's a reason almost no one knows them, but they still are amazing! You'll see it by yourself. React to them and I will explain you why so good musicians are so unknown... Thanks a lot and enjoy! P.S. I will post this comment on a lot of your reactions because you may not see it most of the time because there are plenty of comments.
Brian may always says the guitar is his voice and the full innuendo album you can hear every emotion coming out of him in his playing...the ultimate being the song BIJOU where the guitar and singer reverse the middle 8 solo..it is truly Brian "singing"
Dude seriously you’re reacting to songs that I lived through. At 50 I love seeing you kids are loving the songs I grew up with. Rush / Tom Sawyer is a HUGE classic
@@andyandalex Wait seriously. What the hell! Oh well... You've probably heard the song before and just didn't realise. It's very famous. Oh my God Forget my past suggestion! Listen to Don't Stop Me Now next!
It's great to finally find a reaction video to this song, where the listener closes their eyes, zones out and you can see the expressions are falling right in to nuances of the song. Great video young man!
Oh yes he Does ! And every song is done different an usually they well Freddie said that there songs don't have a meaning he wants the listener to put what they think ! Gotta love Freddie an Brian, Roger an JOHN ♾️🌹
The guitar you love on this song is played by Steve Howe from Yes. This is the only time another musician was asked to play with them (not including a synthesizer guy). If you want the will time best Brian guitar part, listen to Brighton Rock. Find the lyric video. Brian wrote it. Boy and girl go on a holiday, girl leaves, boy is sad. It's amazing.
durban73 37nabrud actually a guest musician played piano in Man on the prowl: Fred Mandel. It’s weird to think Queen used him having Freddie, but it seems that guy is more of a virtuoso.
If you want to hear guitars, you need to react to Brighton Rock. Epic three-part harmonies! Just for future reference, you won't find a Queen song you don't like!
@@andyandalex I've been a Queen fan my whole life, I was raised on classic rock. With Queen all four members had at least one number one single (not even the Beatles, managed that) Each member has their own writing style and all input into writing, hence each song is very unique. Loving the channel keep up the good work.
Watching you reacting to Innuendo is like a look back in time for me, because I still remember buying this album in 1991, getting home, putting it on the player and starting to listen to it. During the song I had to remind myself to breathe. It was literally breathtaking and my reaction to the first time I heard it was quite similar to yours. Unfortunately the never performed Innuendo live since Freddie died only a few months after the album was released.
The thing I loved about this song the most is that everything was powerful. BASS. lead guitar drums and then singing!! Also w/ Queen music, you can't let yourself get used to listening to a slow sweet bit because then they'll come in with his hardcore guitars & drum Jam that will blow your mind away. Queen songs usually have a lot of flips and switches on you and they'll get you. I want it all has some flips but they're not as Extreme as this song and Bohemian Rhapsody.. On Mojo's top 10 count every member of Queen is listed in the top 10 whether it's a bass lead guitar drummer singer or frontman of a rock group!! I think David Gilmour and Jimmy Page were among some of the other really good guitar players. You know most of the greats of the greatest! Brian May and concert is like holding him back for about 10 minutes and then letting him go. You've seen a lot of their videos and he really tears it up. John Deacon is funny because he really gets down occasionally but he's not as crazy with the guitar as Brian...
Loving your Queen reactions! Brighton Rock is a definite if you want some prime Brian May action 😂 it was originally just a guitar solo they played live that was eventually turned into a song. Freddie sings in boy and girl voices! I'll suggest again for a slightly longer video, the song trio of tenement funster/flick of the wrist/lily of the valley. It's a treat for the ears! And was covered in whole by Dream Theatre once upon a time, additional pop fact 😂 For bad queen, early 80s they lost themselves a bit... I tend to ignore that part!
the music video for this is amazing. they had to use archive footage of freddy because he was too sick to do new video, but there's also some great stop motion animation and other psychedelic stuff.
classic roger Taylor lyrics in innuendo, as a massive queen fan I'm so glad this album was made, you can tell they really tried to sign out in style with quality!
Another great reaction vid Andy, I love how you totally immerse yourself when listening to this fantastic band and their classic body of work, so many styles, songs and singing range of Freddie Mercury. I love how some of you guys are discovering this amazing band, over hear in Britain we love them, and still feel the loss of Freddie. Andy please react to "The Show Must Go On". A truly amazing performance by Freddie, singing his heart out, and what's outstanding is that by this time, he was gravely ill, his body slowly deteriorating but his voice was so powerful, right until the end. No matter how many times I hear that song, it still moves me.
@@andyandalex Oh Cheers buddy!! Just to let you know there is a famous (true) story that Brian May tells about the recording of "Show Must Go On", when Brian May presented Freddie with the song, he told him about the really high notes, Freddie moaned at him, as Brian said he often would, complaining of having to sing these high pitches, and Brian apologised and said if it's gonna be too difficult for you, I can change them, but Freddie the true showman right till the last, said in his own style "Oh FUCK IT....ROLL THE TAPE", he took a shot of vodka and sang the song, nailing it in ONE take, just amazing. Even Brian said he'd never heard him sing like that, but from somewhere he found that inner energy, despite the fact that his body was slowly deteriorating by the Aids virus, and yet his voice was as strong as ever. Thankyou for relying to my comment, and yes I shall look forward to THAT video. Sorry I'm rambling on a bit too much! Thanks again Andy, keep rocking it man, you're doing a fantastic job, love and best wishes to you buddy. 👑😊🎤👍
I wanna recommend the song "Liar" to you for next thursday or whenever you want to listen. It's from their very first album and I think it shows a lot about how their songwriting worked from the very start. The transitions may be a litle rougher, because, you know it was their very beginnings, but this is in my top 3 Queen songs until today. Well that maybe because of some personal history with the song, but I still think everybody who wants to get into Queen needs to hear this song. It's just great. Everything.
Tim Hunter Hey friend! I’ve actually already done Liar on the channel, and I loved it as much as you said I would, I have a Queen Reaction playlist if you wanna see what I’ve done! 🔥😁
Wow okay I checked your vids before doing the comment, so I must've totally overlooked that. Nvm then :D if I could recommend another really underrated Queen song that I would also consider in at least my top 5, then check out "It's late". Great rock song that doesn't depend on the hard theme switches too much, that's just one great riff after the next one with typical Freddy greatness perfecting it. And don't tell me you already did that one, too :D Greetings from Germany
Liar always makes me wonder what his boarding school experience was like (away from 7yo to 16yo?) Talk about separation; and how did the teachers, nuns, and priests react to him?
I think it is very smart to listen to the studios stuff first. Once you have a good appreciation of that, the live stuff will blow you away what they can do withOUT the studio.
Answering your question: yes, he does tear it up live. They never got to play Innuendo live with Freddie - they were not touring anymore by then because of his illness - but they played it in April 1992 with The Robert Plant on vocals, at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert which took place on Wembley Stadium in London. A concert worth checking out.

Bravo to Steve Howe from ' YES" by playing that beautiful Spanish guitar bit in this song because that's what made me fall in love with this song.. at first I thought it was creepy and then I heard that and fell in love. Then Brian John and Rodger came in banging away on the guitar and the drums and it was EPIC ❤❤❤ the words in the meaning to the song are incredible. So true to life. I don't think they've ever played this live and I don't think they should.
That exhale at the end is what a lot of us do. Glad you’re enjoying Queen, I think you should try the final recording to be released under the Queen name alone, No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) it was recorded after Freddie’s death by the remaining 3 members of Queen. Vocals are shared between Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Also mother love, freddie was being dragged to his grave when recording the vocals, he never got to finish the vocals, may had to sing the last verse, when Freddie was singing the vocals, you can tell he was about to go, when may sang the last verse, you can feel that he is broken. It was on the made on heaven album btw

The whole band tears it up in live shows. So Yes, Brian loves the metal feel so he really gets into it. I am guessing that he wrote this one but for this album, they just listed all songs as written by QUEEN not the individual.
There's no way to cut any song from Queen II because the complete album is a masterpiece and all songs are connected together to function as a whole piece of art...
This is such a high end production song with some flash points of Spanish flare and rock opera leanings. Interesting and compelling this song just drew me in and made me feel as though I was strapped to a spinning wheel, catching glimpses of so many things, taking me on an emotional and mental rollercoaster ride. I couldn't even pay attention to the words because the music was so intense. Time for me to go back and read the lyrics. WHEW, this was an impactful song. Brian rips it up live, too, he doesn't hold back when he is given the spotlight and free reign.
with all the albums you have a journey of nearly 200 tracks to listen to, all 4 members wrote no1 hits so once you get to know the styles you will be able to spot who wrote what song, love the reactions, and yes Brian May not only cuts loose live he totally brings down the house -

"the show most go on"....amazing album to listen in the highway to vacation jaja....freddy and braian may 🎸🎼... 🎤 🔥🔥

Sounds good, thanks for the request! 🔥😁
This magnificent song is a pure masterpiece. So clever ❤️❤️❤️👑
I love your review. Keep listening to Queen! 🎤🤴🏻🎶❤️ Eargasism...good word!

Thank you! And I will don’t worry!! 🔥😁
Yeah he did Freddie controls the crowd at least he did me, I couldn’t take my eyes off of him . I saw them in San Diego 1975 and 76 , Freddie had long hair first time and short the next show. ROCKED THE HOUSE . 🇺🇸🎸
I really would love for Alex and You listen to this again, I would love to see Alex’s face. This is a true masterpiece ❤️❤️❤️
Great reaction Andy. A masterpiece & my favourite Queen song. It has everything! 🤘
Great song !! another great Queen song is THE SHOW MUST GO ON thanks.
Pim Sluiter
Thanks for the suggestion!! 🔥😁
info: on the album-version (which you listened to), the flamenco-guitar is played by yes-guitarist Steve Howe
Wow, that's cool. Steve Howe with Queen? Eargasm alert!!
It's exactly the same on the single version. If it weren't the video would not work load me it does.
Brian loves his solos .... so you can find him doing an extended solo. one of the best was the Budapest concert in 86
Gareth Thomas
Thanks for the tip! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex Try a song Brighton Rock from Live Killers. My favorite among Brian's long solos
love the expression on your face as the song unfolds. yes, this will be another one you love!
One of my preferred songs ever.
A true masterpiece with lyrics that represent so much what was going through Freddy's mind during this period of his last year on Earth, and he knew it.
Great reaction!
---------------
I would like to make 2 special suggestions almost no one will give you:
2 bands:
The Warning: start with "survive" at TedX, and then "21st century blood" official video.
Ilan Brami-Rosilio
Yeah keep reminding me and I will definitely hit it!! Cheers! 🔥😁
Brian may always says the guitar is his voice and the full innuendo album you can hear every emotion coming out of him in his playing...the ultimate being the song BIJOU where the guitar and singer reverse the middle 8 solo..it is truly Brian "singing"
good old fashioned lover boy by Queen is such an wholesome song and i hope you'll react to it, cheers!
foxy minecraft
I’ll have to get to it for sure, thanks!! 🔥😁
Studio version!
I can’t give you a bad song suggestion because there aren’t any haha. You definitely need to check out Save Me, live at Montreal 1981.
GMACF1
Haha that’s what I’m thinking! Thanks for the suggestion by the way! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex Save Me in Montreal Is great, but could you check Somebody to love at Hammersmith Odeon 1979? Your reactions are great man!

For sure I’ll get to it! Thanks! 🔥😁
@@andyandalexYou're welcome!😁
Dude seriously you’re reacting to songs that I lived through. At 50 I love seeing you kids are loving the songs I grew up with. Rush / Tom Sawyer is a HUGE classic
@John Osenbaugh
Glad you’re enjoying the videos friend, the goal is to craft content you guys are able to relate/resonate with, cheers! 🔥😁

Spider- Man
I haven’t!! It’s on the list though! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex Wait seriously. What the hell! Oh well... You've probably heard the song before and just didn't realise. It's very famous. Oh my God Forget my past suggestion! Listen to Don't Stop Me Now next!
Spider- Man
Haha I’ll hit them both!! 🔥😁
It's great to finally find a reaction video to this song, where the listener closes their eyes, zones out and you can see the expressions are falling right in to nuances of the song. Great video young man!
The Spanish-inspired acoustic guitar solo was actually performed by the guitarist for Yes.
The Black Queen
Thanks for letting me know!
It's amazing.
durban73 37nabrud
So many suggestions for that song, doing it soon for sure! 🔥🔥
durban73 37nabrud actually a guest musician played piano in Man on the prowl: Fred Mandel. It’s weird to think Queen used him having Freddie, but it seems that guy is more of a virtuoso.
You'll find that the visuals makes so amazing on the official
Que vos Freddie Mercury !!! Único ♥️ no habrá otro Queen 💪 👍
If you want to hear guitars, you need to react to Brighton Rock. Epic three-part harmonies! Just for future reference, you won't find a Queen song you don't like!
Richard Pawlyszyn
Thanks for the suggestion I’m gonna have to do that one soon for sure, and that’s how it’s looking! Every song has been so good! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex I've been a Queen fan my whole life, I was raised on classic rock. With Queen all four members had at least one number one single (not even the Beatles, managed that) Each member has their own writing style and all input into writing, hence each song is very unique.
Loving the channel keep up the good work.
Richard Pawlyszyn
Thanks for that informative comment friend! I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel, cheers! 🔥😁
Brighton Rock is amazing. In fact, Sheer Heart Attack is my favorite Queen album. It's an underrated album.
Excellent, genuine reaction! You remind me of how I reacted to Queen every time I heard a new song/album by them - decades ago!
Vinnie Moran
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Queen has open a whole new musical door for me, I’m loving it, cheers friend! 🔥😁
More power to you, buddy!
Scandle by queen check it out so good such meaning behind the song
I LOVE THIS SONG
A man dying and singing this masterpiece, pure legendary
Watching you reacting to Innuendo is like a look back in time for me, because I still remember buying this album in 1991, getting home, putting it on the player and starting to listen to it. During the song I had to remind myself to breathe. It was literally breathtaking and my reaction to the first time I heard it was quite similar to yours. Unfortunately the never performed Innuendo live since Freddie died only a few months after the album was released.
althelas I was only 10 at the time but my dad bought it the day it came out too and even at that age I remember holding my breath. It’s incredible
And was covered in whole by Dream Theatre once upon a time, additional pop fact 😂
For bad queen, early 80s they lost themselves a bit... I tend to ignore that part!
shellywoo
Hey I’m glad you like the videos! And yeah I think I may do Brighton Rock soon! And thanks for the suggestion, cheers! 🔥😁
Brighton rock on Live Killers is the ultimate
Brian does do the guitar solo live, the Spanish flamenco was done by Steve Howe from Yes. Try Body Language, a lot of people hate that one
The Queen & toy collector yeah its garbage..especially live😂😂
Damn! And thanks for the tip!! 🔥😁
AndyReacts i mean body language...not brian's solo
The Queen & toy collector is it bad that i love that song?
@@joutakujo9773 not at all, I don't hate it but it is not my favourite
This is my best song in innuendo, so prophetic... sounds. But we keep on trying ..to break this evil madness around the world.
Your face reacting to music is priceless !! Another good video...thanks Andy !
Roth Wood it’s the reason I keep coming back to this channel. It’s honest. It’s the heart of a true music lover
the music video for this is amazing. they had to use archive footage of freddy because he was too sick to do new video, but there's also some great stop motion animation and other psychedelic stuff.
Ive never heard this song before, its awesome, I freakin love it!!!
Steve Howe of Yes on acoustic guitar middle section.👀
classic roger Taylor lyrics in innuendo, as a massive queen fan I'm so glad this album was made, you can tell they really tried to sign out in style with quality!
@A J Lomas
Hey friend I’m glad you enjoyed the video! And about your request..let’s just say you’ll be ecstatic this week..! 😉 cheers friend!!! 😁
@A J Lomas
No problem! Video goes up on Thursday, see you then! 😁
Everything.
Tim Hunter
Hey friend!
And don't tell me you already did that one, too :D
Greetings from Germany
Tim Hunter
No problem! And sounds good I’ll add it to my list, cheers from Florida! 🔥😁
Liar always makes me wonder what his boarding school experience was like (away from 7yo to 16yo?) Talk about separation; and how did the teachers, nuns, and priests react to him?
This is not one-time heard right-now hit song. This is masterpiece that will grow in you!
Andy, your facial expression,s are a good accompion to the song
One of my absolute favorite Queen songs. Freddie was an irreplaceable musical genius. Legendary
I think it is very smart to listen to the studios stuff first. Once you have a good appreciation of that, the live stuff will blow you away what they can do withOUT the studio.
Queen - White Queen (A Night At The Odeon - Hammersmith 1975)
Pure magic
Thanks for the suggestion! 🔥😁
Omg. Yes yes yes. This is my favourite song.
A concert worth checking out.
the Epic Queen songs:
The Prophet's Song
March of the Black Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody
Innuendo
The Outstanding songs (which aren't Epics but are almost)
The Millionaire Waltz
Father to Son
White Queen (as it began)
(Probs missed lots)
Bravo to Steve Howe from
' YES" by playing that beautiful Spanish guitar bit in this song because that's what made me fall in love with this song.. at first I thought it was creepy and then I heard that and fell in love. Then Brian John and Rodger came in banging away on the guitar and the drums and it was EPIC ❤❤❤ the words in the meaning to the song are incredible. So true to life. I don't think they've ever played this live and I don't think they should.
Man seriously, White Queen live at the Odeon. Unbelievable instrumental. Brian May and Freddie on piano. It will melt your soul.
It is nice to see someone from your generation enjoying REAL music!
Not only does he tear it up he makes it look effortless amazing musician
Saddest Queen song ever The Show Must Go On . Virtually on his death bed, recorded in one take
Also mother love, freddie was being dragged to his grave when recording the vocals, he never got to finish the vocals, may had to sing the last verse, when Freddie was singing the vocals, you can tell he was about to go, when may sang the last verse, you can feel that he is broken. It was on the made on heaven album btw
It wasn't the whole song which was done in 1 take. It was 1 line done in 1 take. (A lot of people have made that mistake.)
If you want to hear Brian at his 70s purest then I think Brighton Rock is the one to go to.
I keep telling him!
I will don’t worry!! So many good songs!! I literally promise I’ll hit it!! Cheers friends! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex If you want to hear some mellow haunting guitar from Brian May check out "My Bijou". It's a short piece from the Innuendo album well worth 3 mins of your life
Katatonic Kiwi
Hey thanks for the tip! 🔥😁
I'd say yes, but do the live version of Brighton Rock off of "Queen: Live Killers" their first Live double LP.
On the album the Spanish Guitar is credited to Steve Howe of Yes and Asia, I guess Brian this means Brian cant play Spanish guitar.
The whole band tears it up in live shows. So Yes, Brian loves the metal feel so he really gets into it. I am guessing that he wrote this one but for this album, they just listed all songs as written by QUEEN not the individual.
They wrote "Tear It Up", so, uh... yeah. :)
The best in my opinion so far. Queen Rocks in every style.
I would say anything from their 77 tour. Their best tour by far. The freddie vocal solo on the prophet song is pretty wild also
I like your reactions keep going;)
7 seas of rhye is my absolute favorite. He wrote it for his sister. It was a childhood game they played as children. Love it.
How about THE FAIRY FELLER’S MASTER STROKE from Queen II. It was based on the painting of the same name by Richard Dadd
Guy1341
Sounds awesome! Thanks for the suggestion! 🔥😁
There's no way to cut any song from Queen II because the complete album is a masterpiece and all songs are connected together to function as a whole piece of art...
The flamenco on acoustic guitar is played by Steve Howe from Yes. Brian May invited him for a brilliant flamenco solo.
one of my all time favourite Queen songs is "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" it is so fun
5:55 gets me every listen when the verse comes back in again
MegaRockstar48
Yes!!! I’ve listened to it multiple times since I recorded this and each time it gets me! Cheers friend! 🔥😁
Flamenco guitar break by Steve Howe from Yes. Another band they should check out at some point
Brian rips it up live, too, he doesn't hold back when he is given the spotlight and free reign.
with all the albums you have a journey of nearly 200 tracks to listen to, all 4 members wrote no1 hits so once you get to know the styles you will be able to spot who wrote what song, love the reactions, and yes Brian May not only cuts loose live he totally brings down the house -
chris rowley
Thanks for that informative comment, glad you’re liking the videos! And damn, we’re gonna have to do some live shows at some point then!! 😁🔥🔥
Steve Howe of Yes came walking down the hall in the studio and Brian said hey, how about doing a flamenco section. Steve didn't have his guitar, but they found one and he did it.
Andy the mid part, the acoustic guitar, was played by Steve Howe from the band called Yes. Check out Madrigal by Yes original or official video so you can see what he does
Watch them live after you react, it’s all true!! Yea, they are so talented. They do the same live!!💗
Queen didn't perform this song live with Freddie he had retired from live performance at this stage as he was too ill however they did play it with Robert Plant on vocals at the Freddie tribute concert , I'm sure you can find this on RUclips.
A song from the Innuendo I'd love for you to cover is Ride The Wild Wind. It's my favorite Queen song, written by Roger Taylor. It has amazing drums! A musical masterpiece!
Master piece
There can be only one Freddie, this is a masterpiece
That will get it. Live last..that's actually a meaning of life..we'll keep on tryng there is no meaning to life, thanks Freddie and to you Andy. You are the best. Patricia
innuendo and the show must go on are amazing songs and stand up there with any of the early stuff!
The "wandering minstrel Spanish guitar" in the acoustic section isn't actually Brian May. It's Steve Howe - from Yes.
After being mostly in the wilderness in the 1980s queen found itself again at the end of freddies life with this greatness
Awesome, I think I was the one who requested this😂
Tonferd Films
You were one of the ones that stood out yeah! 🔥😁
Steve Howe (from Yes) was the guitarist in the middle part of this song.
Oh, BTW little trivia on Brian May, not sure if you know this or not, he holds a PhD in Astrophysics. True.
I love your reaction. You really GET the music. This is one the best rock songs ever written IMO. Queen were pure genius. I've been a fan for about 35 years!! If you haven't already, pleae review some Genesis, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath :-)
Freddie literally put everything he had left into this album. As I understand it, recording this album shortened his life by a couple of months. Even now, almost 35 years later, it's still heartbreaking....this was his goodbye letter.
He's better live!! They all are!!

That’s what you guys keep saying!! 🔥😁
@@andyandalex When you are ready, you should sit down and watch an entire concert, Wembley, Budapest, Rio. from the 80's. They were filmed, not videoed, Queen did not spare any expense in recording.
