But if you get me three, well I might not be able finish and then where do I put the leftovers. So two is the perfect number. If you order one then you've order one too few. Three and you've ordered too many. Two, Utah. Get me two"
There are three types of breaks in surfing, *Beach Break*, *Reef Break*, and *Point Break*, each is defined on where the wave "breaks" on landfall. Point Breaks are the most popular because of the traveling pipeline (letting surfers ride the wave longer), and unlike the others they are very unidirectional.
"If you want the ultimate, you got to be willing to pay the ultimate price" and "It's not tragic to die doing what you love" BEST LINES IN THIS KICKASS MOVIE!!!!
Fun fact: The people behind the movie told Patrick Swayze he wasn't allowed to do the skydiving because they wouldn't be able to get the insurance on the movie if it was him instead of a stunt person. He said "ok" but then on that day, he said screw it Im doing it anyway and Patrick did the skydiving scene himself in 1 take because he knew it was the only chance he was gonna get to do it.
Kathryn Bigelow is a legend. Love her so much :) Her directing style is absolutely fantastic (Strange Days is visually amazing). Her filmography isn't large, but it is distinguished :) Near Dark, Point Break, Strange Days, K-19, Hurt Locker (for which she won the Oscar for Best Director - first woman in history to do so), Zero Dark Thirty. She's also 71 and still making films :)
The Devil's Advocate, Constantine and A Scanner Darkly are also so good! Hope you do them as well. Point Break is an absolute classic! One of my all time favorites!

Great reaction to this classic movie, guys. Bodhi didn't make an effort to surf the wave at the end. He had basically made up his mind to commit suicide and he took a dive on his way down. As he said to Johnny "just let me catch one wave before you take me". He didn't plan on being around after that first wave.

Great movie. You should see Keanu Constantine and Chain Reaction and The Devil Advocate. Also Patrick Swayze Road House and Ghost . Fyi Gary Busey was already in a great surfer movie you should see called Big Wednesday. The singer of Red Hat Chilli Pepper plays a small role in this movie. He is the guy who shot his own leg. Point Break was also Tony Stark nickname to Thor :) because of Patrick Swayze blonde hair. The remake suck don't watch it. Another early fun underrated Keanu Reeves movie is The Night Before you should see it.
An 80's gem is To Live And Die In LA. Willem Dafoe, William Peterson. It's about counterfeiting and the Secret Service. Loads of action, killer car chase, drama. I don't think any reactions to it yet. Very 80's feel.
Red Dawn and Road House are fantastic movies you both will enjoy immensely. And if you haven't seen The Outsiders, its an outstanding film with a huge cast of greats you will recognize including Patrick Swayze. Another overlooked early Keanu film is The Rivers Edge. A truly excellent movie.
I think we can say this without hyperbole: Point Break is not only the finest piece of American cinema, it is one of the great works of Western Civilization. I hope archaeologists dig this movie up 3000 years from now and gaze upon it in wonder like when they first uncovered King Tut's tomb.
I've been waiting for this reaction. This is my favorite Keanu Reeves 90's action film. So underrated. The action is great, and the soundtrack kicks ass.
Patrick Swayze is just on another level in this role (and, I think, that's what you always got from Swayze!). His charisma and performance in this is just unmatched IMHO. My wife and I are really enjoying watching movies with you two. ❤ Thanks for sharing! Oh, and yeah, Roadhouse IS a classic action flick. And it sounds like you probably should do a vid for Ghost, since one of you haven't seen it!
Patrick was my childhood hero, and still love that guy. Really miss his style and vibe. About Keanu, what can I say.....love this guy too, awesome and humble. Thank u Katheryn for putting this movie out with my two favorite guys along side with Gary Busey and ALL that surfer stuff. Cool as hell! Besides, that great early 90s vibe. I miss those days too
Love seeing you all watch films together. Samantha continues to kill it in her breakdowns of what she loved like and did not like This is one of my top 5 favorite mindless films to watch and just relax, road house is that way for me.
Tbr, Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett is a trip. It's a sci-fi noir written and produced by (her then hubby) James Cameron. Bombed at the box office but has become a cult favourite through the years.
@@robertcampbell8070 I remember it torn to shreds, granted I was in 6th grade lmao. But I 100% remember the actor's, plot, and several other things getting shredded. Keanu's "California surfer dude performance" being the big one. The ending where Keanu traveled the World to let Swayze just paddle off after killing Busey and kidnapping Tyler another. The plot DOES SUCK to be fair lol, but it's still fun.
it has a 70% critic and 79% fan ratings on RT. I was around 20 at the time and it wasn't panned really. It did become bigger as time went on though and more people saw it on VHS and other mediums.
@@kickstart_1.3 Did YOU enjoy it though? That's my point. I'm assuming you're not a self-proclaimed expert, and also not a well-known critic. I'm just curious and NOT bashing you or critics/experts. "I could eat the ass end out of a rhino" was also said by Bill Paxton in Apollo 13. I can't remember which one of them actually says that irl and which one was giving him a kind of a shout out to the other.
Love this movie, two more little known Keanu Reeves movies worth keeping in mind is A River's Edge and Permanent Record. River's Edge is based on a news story that actually happened back in the 80's I believe.
Summer 1991 was full of some hits. A lot of people avoided this movie off at first and wrote it off because they thought there was something comical about surfers being bank robbers. The trailer was very well done and matched the adrenaline of the movie. Keanu Reeves would later get more press for his action role in "Speed" but he was quite physical and intense in this movie. Kathryn Bigelow definitely showed some action chops and we did not get enough of her at the time.
It wasn’t that so much as bad timing. It came out less than 2 weeks after Terminator 2 (which everybody wanted to see) and the same day as Boyz N the Hood, which soon got everybody’s attention. I only saw this in theaters because the 7 o’clock for T2 was sold out (We went to the late show of T2 afterwards). Probably the best double feature I’ve ever done.
@@lexkanyima2195 I wouldn’t call it “rushed,” it’s about as well put together as any medium budget action flick for that time. I just think the release was just bad luck. I’m sure nobody at Fox was worried about Boyz N the Hood coming out at the same time (low budget serious social drama from a 22-year old first time director versus Patrick Swayze, surfing, guns, and explosions?) and I think studios had no idea T2 was going to be a phenomenon (T2’s budget was $25 million more than the entire box office earnings from the first movie) and figured it would have been losing momentum by the time Point Break came out. As a result, PB was 3rd on everyone’s list, and by the time most people got around to wanting to go see it, it was already out of their local theater. But eventually, home video and HBO gave Point Break the big audience it should have gotten right off the bat.
TRUE STORY: Patrick Swayze literally throwing a dog at Keanu is one of my favorite things ever. Its so damn creative/funny. I can dodge a brick, but WTF throws a dog?🤣🤣🤣
And technically it wasn't even Patrick Swayze who threw the dog at him IRL. He was unavailable to do the chase scene that day because he was promoting Ghost, so it was really a stuntman in the Ronald Reagan mask who Keanu was chasing.
These are the kind of crime movies I love. Bodhi is such a likeable dude in some respects. Committed to freedom. Another darker film thats similar is Hell or High Water with Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges
Saw this at the movies and laughed out loud at the dog throw and punt scene. To this day I'll never forget that. What a weird thing to actually shoot for a movie. And for the editor to leave in. Always get a kick out of that and the Johnny hates losing so much he jumps from plane with only a gun scene. Pure action to the max.
That "biggest waves" thing hits kind of different when you learn that, in the real biggest waves spots, you need a jet sky to take you all the way out to where you can actually catch the wave. The current is just too strong. And while I understand this is a movie, the wave they show where Body dies is pretty tiny. The largest waves are the size of sky scrapers.
Point Break came out when I was 12 and it blew my mind. Its been my favourite action film ever since. I think it might be one of the 1st times I remember seeing a bad guy that I didn't hate & although not rooting for him I kind of hoped things worked out, because Bodhi was very likable. Like you mentioned, Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves made a great duo. I loved their chemistry. ( Also check out Ice hockey film Youngblood, with both of them). Keanu & Gary Busey were also great together. The action, The foot chase, The tension, The Skydiving scene, Gary Buseys crazy one liners, So quotable. Also scene stealers Tom Sizemore & John C McGinley. Kathyrn Bigelows Direction. ( Also you got to check out Strange Days also directed by Bigelow) What's not to like.
I agree with everything you said. It’s funny you mentioned Strange Days. I just saw it again two nights ago after probably 20 years, and I have to say, it still holds up. That’s definitely a great one.
@Daniel Johnson Both Point Break & Strange Days are in my top 10 favourite films. I'm not really interested in awards "Oscars etc". I just want to be entertained, and by God, do these films entertain! Also, Strange days has a kick ass soundtrack.
I second this recommendation. While it's true that Keanu Reeves isn't British and doesn't *look* anything like the John Constantine from the HELLBLAZER comics (and later on, the TV series), he *acts* the part very well. My opinion? Take the movie on its own merits, not as an adaption; it's a great movie. (Plus, it also has Tilda Swinton in it. I will watch anything that has Tilda Swinton in it.)
Anthony Kiedis (and Flea) is also in the movie The Chase with Charlie Sheen. Its a silly comedy, but tons of fun and Kiedis' and Flea's characters are hilarious. Henry Rollins js in it also. Lol.
Another very underrated action classic that gets very little to no respect is "HARLEY DAVIDSON & THE MARLBORO MAN,starring Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke! Check it out, you'll enjoy it! Great reaction guys! I have watched this film several times and I never get tired of it.
To be fair, Bodhi didn't find his wave yet and that's why he died so quickly. He was running from the authorities, it was still raining, and he didn't have time to find that favorable wave he could ride. It was basically just a suicide attempt from the get-go.
It's what ALL Katherine Bigalow films are about. HUMAN EMOTIONS. Usually dancing with the dark side. ..... Must watch Horror by Bigelow.... NEAR DARK. Far better Vampire flick than "Lost Boys".
"Don't stop to think cause I know where I stand I'm on my way no your not gonna change my plan If you can break away and see what I say You'll understand what I'm trying to be''
A few years later, there were some other action crime movies with skydiving as a major element - Drop zone(Wesley Snipes) & Terminal velocity(Charlie Sheen), both more on the campy end of the spectrum though.
3:10 Nope, I had that kind of Ronald Reagan mask as a kid and they've actually a really good design and easy to see out of. And adults have even bigger heads so they hold even better
Now this is a classic.

This surfer girl is "Kit" from the movie "A league of their own".
Utah! Get me two!
An 80's gem is To Live And Die In LA. Willem Dafoe, William Peterson. It's about counterfeiting and the Secret Service. Loads of action, killer car chase, drama. I don't think any reactions to it yet. Very 80's feel.
Kathryn Bigelow directing some of the most memorable "macho" movies of the last thirty years is the icing on the cake.
13:36 officially a dad joke 🙂
Red Dawn and Road House are fantastic movies you both will enjoy immensely. And if you haven't seen The Outsiders, its an outstanding film with a huge cast of greats you will recognize including Patrick Swayze.
Another overlooked early Keanu film is The Rivers Edge. A truly excellent movie.
Red Dawn also has a large cast of greats. Amazing movie. Too bad the remake sucked
Youngblood absolute must watch
@@RickYoungBlood666 Hell yes! Keanu as a French Canadian goalie, must watch!
I think we can say this without hyperbole: Point Break is not only the finest piece of American cinema, it is one of the great works of Western Civilization. I hope archaeologists dig this movie up 3000 years from now and gaze upon it in wonder like when they first uncovered King Tut's tomb.
Other Bigelow flicks to add to your list - "Near Dark", "Strange Days", & "Zero Dark Thirty" You will love them all.
I've been waiting for this reaction. This is my favorite Keanu Reeves 90's action film. So underrated. The action is great, and the soundtrack kicks ass.
Nobody rides for free…..🏄♂️
Patrick Swayze is just on another level in this role (and, I think, that's what you always got from Swayze!). His charisma and performance in this is just unmatched IMHO.
My wife and I are really enjoying watching movies with you two. ❤ Thanks for sharing!
Oh, and yeah, Roadhouse IS a classic action flick. And it sounds like you probably should do a vid for Ghost, since one of you haven't seen it!
TBR SCHMITT: "So we've done, Speed." "Yeah Speed was fun."
ME: "Hmmmm this could be funny if taken out of context."
😂😂😂
Patrick was my childhood hero, and still love that guy. Really miss his style and vibe. About Keanu, what can I say.....love this guy too, awesome and humble. Thank u Katheryn for putting this movie out with my two favorite guys along side with Gary Busey and ALL that surfer stuff. Cool as hell! Besides, that great early 90s vibe. I miss those days too
Love seeing you all watch films together. Samantha continues to kill it in her breakdowns of what she loved like and did not like This is one of my top 5 favorite mindless films to watch and just relax, road house is that way for me.
The Eutaw/Bhodi foot chase through the suburbs is epic. May be one of the best Chase scenes in movie history.
Throw a beard on Keanu, and he's the same-looking guy 32 years later.
You're not wrong
Tbr, Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett is a trip. It's a sci-fi noir written and produced by (her then hubby) James Cameron. Bombed at the box office but has become a cult favourite through the years.
This is one of those movies that proves the "experts" and critics wrong. Its FUN, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I cant freaking believe its 32 years old!!!
It was generally well received by critics at the time...
A critic can only judge the objective quality of a movie, in this case, it sucks.
it has a 70% critic and 79% fan ratings on RT.
Just wondering if u liked it. I gotta run, but have a great night pal. Wasn't trying to be a jerk btw I promise. This movie sucks by so many standards, but I still think it's fun. Jmo friend.
Ah the spiritual precursor to the entire Fast and Furious franchise
"Ride Or Die!" ✌
if it had not existed this movie, Fast and Furious would not exist either
Bullshit. This movie was actually good.
such an awesome movie, Kathryn Bigelow is highly underrated as a director(Strange Days in paricular doesn't get the attention it deserves).
The Golden Child with Eddie Murphy. Another great multi-tone action movie.
"I could eat the ass end out of a rhino" was also said by Bill Paxton in Apollo 13. I can't remember which one of them actually says that irl and which one was giving him a kind of a shout out to the other.
Bill Paxton is in another Katherine Bigalow film that has a cult following, Near Dark. Much better than "Lost Boys" IMHO.
Love this movie, two more little known Keanu Reeves movies worth keeping in mind is A River's Edge and Permanent Record. River's Edge is based on a news story that actually happened back in the 80's I believe.
This movie is so slept on. It’s amazing
But it is also a ushering a new era
It wasn’t that so much as bad timing. It came out less than 2 weeks after Terminator 2 (which everybody wanted to see) and the same day as Boyz N the Hood, which soon got everybody’s attention. I only saw this in theaters because the 7 o’clock for T2 was sold out (We went to the late show of T2 afterwards). Probably the best double feature I’ve ever done.
@@bobcobb3654 it felt rushed
A lot of people call this a "guilty pleasure." Im not ashamed one bit to say i love this f***ing movie!!!
Yeah I don’t get that. This movie is pure gold.
@@graham974 Hell yes!!!
No guilty pleasure for me,a very good film, well made. The first Fast and Furious movie stole this plot/story. LOL.
It guarantees I don't get an early night if it ever shows up in the TV schedule
TRUE STORY: Patrick Swayze literally throwing a dog at Keanu is one of my favorite things ever. Its so damn creative/funny. I can dodge a brick, but WTF throws a dog?🤣🤣🤣
And technically it wasn't even Patrick Swayze who threw the dog at him IRL. He was unavailable to do the chase scene that day because he was promoting Ghost, so it was really a stuntman in the Ronald Reagan mask who Keanu was chasing.
I have no problem dodging dogs
@@TheShockninja That stuntman is awesome 😂😂😂
These are the kind of crime movies I love. Bodhi is such a likeable dude in some respects. Committed to freedom.
Another darker film thats similar is Hell or High Water with Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges
Keanu was once the "GOOFBALL GUY" in movies. Fast-forward 30 years and hes John Wick!!! One of the best and most unexpected career arcs in history.
Right up there with Robin Williams. Though he didn't move on to action but just much more serious dramatic roles.
Utah! Get me 2!
Yes but those are rogue waves, not surfable one near the shore.
One of the greatest movies ever.
With a killer soundtrack to boot.
The Point Break reference in Hot Fuzz is hilarious.
Keanu!!!! Still not Bill & Ted’s but still an iconic movie. HE IS A FBI AGENT!!!
* I AM AN F-B-I AGENT!
The action,
The foot chase,
The tension,
The Skydiving scene,
Gary Buseys crazy one liners,
So quotable.
Also scene stealers Tom Sizemore & John C McGinley.
Kathyrn Bigelows Direction. ( Also you got to check out Strange Days also directed by Bigelow)
What's not to like.
A Keanu movie you should watch is "Constantine". A supernatural movie that's really cool.
The Outsiders….an older Patrick Swayze classic with a bunch of young familiar faces you would love!!!
Anthony Kiedis (and Flea) is also in the movie The Chase with Charlie Sheen. Its a silly comedy, but tons of fun and Kiedis' and Flea's characters are hilarious. Henry Rollins js in it also. Lol.
Samantha after the tanline mention: *"Dont surfers wear wetsuits???"*
- Thats exactly what i thought as a kid 😂😂😂
The female lead playing the character she does in Orange is the New Black is to me, wild range yo.
I Concur
Living in Australia, I know that's not Bells Beach. I think they filmed it in USA cause too costly to come down under.
It was filmed at Ecola State Park just north of Cannon Beach, Oregon.
This is the movie that The Fast and the Furious ripped off its entire plot from.
Fast and the Furious movies are all trash, lol.
Point Break is a very good movie
Road House!
Road House!
Road House!
Road House!
Road House!
That girl has entirely too much brains to have an ass like that
"Don't stop to think cause I know where I stand
I'm on my way no your not gonna change my plan
If you can break away and see what I say
You'll understand what I'm trying to be''
A few years later, there were some other action crime movies with skydiving as a major element - Drop zone(Wesley Snipes) & Terminal velocity(Charlie Sheen), both more on the campy end of the spectrum though.
3:10 Nope, I had that kind of Ronald Reagan mask as a kid and they've actually a really good design and easy to see out of. And adults have even bigger heads so they hold even better
