One of my favourite movies, and everyone remembers Swayze in Ghost but for me this is his best performance, and of course the "adios amigo" jump HE did it, no stunts or cgi. Rest in peace Patrick Swayze
@Anakinskywalkerfan1 As a kid I saw "Red Dawn" so many times as it was pretty much just me in that movie. To this day, 30 years later (or more), I can still probably quote ever single word.
Might sound corny but this movie changed the direction of my life. I was 18 just graduated high school when this came out. Didn’t have any direction at the time but I ended up becoming a cop and I also learned to surf having lived within 20 minutes of Malibu. Retired now but still surfing! Definitely Swayze’s best movie imo next to Road House.
Did you just . . . Give it away, give it away, give it away now? 🤗 Anthony Kiedes, Flea and Henry Rollins were in The Chase, along with Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson.
My best friend just had a kid, he named him Bodhi. Our other friend John, we have been calling Utah for 20 years. Going skydiving next week to celebrate my buddies kid. This movie goes deep with me.
"If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love." Fun Fact: Chris Pedersen's character Bunker is a reference to Bunker Spreckels, a surfer/playboy who passed away in 1977. Action Star Fact: Patrick Swayze was an accomplished skydiver, and took part in the big skydiving scene himself. According to Gary Busey, Patrick Swayze was so nuts about skydiving that he actually badgered him until he gave in and agreed to go with him after filming. Art Imitates Life Fact: Johnny Utah became an FBI agent after a knee injury ended his football career. In real life, Keanu Reeves was once an aspiring hockey player who suffered a knee injury, and went on to become an actor. Patrick Swayze also suffered a serious knee injury playing football and went onto become an actor too. Movie Magic Fact: To get close-ups of the actors during the skydiving sequences, a crane rig with a telescoping arm was built for each actor. The rigs enabled the cast to say their lines while the camera shot them from below and to the side to achieve the sense of floating while skydiving. In order to provide a more fluid feel, the camera was on a similar rig.
Gary Busey was in another good skydiving related movie, Drop Zone with Wesley Snipes and Yancy Butler (also Theo Cosby and tv’s Ferris Bueller). He sky dives out of a commercial airliner at 30,000 feet, on purpose. Great cinematography on the skydiving teams too. Similar to this movie in theme (good guy chasing bad guy) but he’s the adrenaline junkie this time.
This is one of my favorite films. I was 20 when this came out and I so glad I saw this one in the theaters. Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze were magnificent in this film. I skipped watching the remake; no way can what Reeves and Swayze did ever be remade, rebooted or copied. Not to mention all the other people involved in making it, especially the director, Kathryn Bigelow. I love her films, especially her first, Near Dark, a vampire movie. I was 16 when that was released. One thing I love about Point Break is the ocean. The ten years I spent in the Navy gave me a love for the ocean that will never die, even though it has been 17 years since I have actually been on the water.
I passed on seeing this when it came out. Looked like a stupid movie with cocky characters. My loss. Me not seeing this and die hard at the movies isa great regret
Patrick Swayze was an incredible actor. Keanu Reeves proved that he had a flair as an action star with this movie. I don't know if you caught the reference to Road House in this movie. When Johnny realizes that Bodhi and his friends are the Ex-Presidents. Johnny follows Bodhi to Patrick's Roadhouse. Please react to Road House (1989).
Have to respect Cameron for pushing to get this movie in theaters a week after T2. No telling how many tickets got sold to this after T2 showings sold out.
Bohdi actually only kills one person in the movie, but you can easily say that he's directly responsible for the deaths of his fellow ex-presidents, and Pappas.
24:32 After You Alphonse, I Insist. Alphonse and Gaston is an American comic strip by Frederick Burr Opper, featuring a bumbling pair of Frenchmen with a penchant for politeness. It first appeared in William Randolph Hearst's newspaper, the New York Journal on September 22, 1901, with the title "Alphonse a la Carte and His Friend Gaston de Table d'Hote". The strip was later distributed by King Features Syndicate. Their "'After you, Alphonse.', 'No, you first, my dear Gaston!'" routine ran for more than a decade. Alphonse is short and grotesque; Gaston is tall and grotesque. The premise is that both are extremely polite, constantly bowing and deferring to each other. Neither can ever do anything or go anywhere because each insists on letting the other precede him. The phrase "Alphonse-and-Gaston routine", or "Alphonse-Gaston Syndrome", indicates a situation wherein one party refuses to act until another party acts first. From a September 23, 2009, New York Times editorial: "For years, China and the United States have engaged in a dangerous Alphonse-and-Gaston routine, using each other's inaction to shirk their responsibility." Alphonse and Gaston exchanges have also been employed by sportscasters during baseball broadcasts when two outfielders go after the ball and it falls in for a base hit. Also, the phrase has a specific meaning in baseball lingo: when two fielders allow a catchable ball to drop between them, it is known as "doing the Alphonse and Gaston." Straight out of wiki, in case anyone wondered where that random phrase came from. These days we just say You First.
24:17 - Pretty sure being able to hear people while skydiving is a movie trope, and that they’d need to rely on hand signs and other visual cues to communicate.

Okay I subbed! I recommend The Expanse for TV shows. It was filmed in Toronto and there's a lot of Canadian actors and locations in the show. So there's your Canadian content! I'm in Montreal. Good to see more Canadians on YT 😁🇨🇦
Hahaha you can't beat a good mustache, right! He does shave it, but he changes up his look quite frequently, so you can be assured it'll make a comeback soon ❤
Just discovered your channel and enjoyed your reaction/commentary! Definitely gained a new subscriber! Side note: at 12:39 the guy who Keanu pulled his hair out, is named Matt Archbold. Even though Patrick Swayze did his own surfing stunts, some of the extreme surfing where you couldn't see Swayze's face, that surfer was Matt Archbold. Swayze also cracked 4 of his ribs surfing in the movie. Woops!
I was 19 years old when this movie came out and saw it with my friends in the theater near my house probably 10 times. I was a huge Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves fan so this was just our summer jam so to speak. (about to watch but I predict you will love it) 😁

Bodhi and Johnny have a very batman-joker relationship they hate each other yet equally respect each other. The vhs box descripes the movie plot as johnny falls under bodhi's charming spell. I dont think the movie always shows that. I love how johnny left him to die in the wave. Johnny lets him die in a way he wanted to go only because of thier werid "relationship" its a clever ending
The way you guys talk about certain shots or aspects of cinematography makes it seem like your as interested in the artistic side of filmmaking as well as enjoying good movies.
You think jeans on a beach is bad, when my dad got out of the military in the 70's, the beaches here in Louisiana would have guys walking around in full pimp suits. They weren't there to swim, of course, they were there macking on the ladies, fully decked out in their dress clothes. One of those hench goons that jumped Johnny early on is the lead singer of Red Hot Chilli Pepper's. Patrick Swayze's character looked like he'd be some dude named Bodey
This is a perfect movie. When skydiving you are unable to talk as the air is moving too quick to allow your vocal cords to work. Swayze was an occomplished skydiver and had done hundreds of solo dives.
Not true about your vocal cords statement. It is true that it is practically impossible to hear others speak in freefall because of the air rush, but if you are near pull altitude, and you yell really loud, you can actually be heard from the ground, even before you pull. Very true about Patrick Swayze being a very good skydiver. Check out some of my skydive videos on my channel; Gary David Holbrook. Blue Skies.
Maplenuts? You two were complimenting the cool POV shots throughout this: you really should react to the movie Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron made after this called "Strange Days," with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett. It's a difficult one to describe, all I can say it's a mystery/action/thriller with virtual reality and police corruption. Extremely technically well done and superrrr 90s!
If you think of it the first Fast and Furious movie is Point Break on Wheels lmao also at the end Keanu Reeves has longer hair because it was a reshoot of the ending. His hair is longer because he was filming Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey
@@maplenutsreact Fun fact... The producer didn't really want Bruce Willis to play John McClane because he thought he didn't look like a action hero.. at the time guys like Stallone, Arnold, snipes... were big but willis was a comedy and T.V. actor... I believe the director really wanted because he wanted to show an average badass and do something different... Personally... I think Bruce Willis fits the role and portraying an average guy worked well and helped make die hard franchise one of the classic 80s movies
Not to quote [spoiler] from [spoiler], but the amount of paperwork needed for an operation like that would be incomprehensible. But it is a really fun movie. Most people discovered Keanu Reeves either from this or Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Edit: (most people who were watching movies in the late 80s early 90s)
I feel like this was recorded before Jordan shaved, but I did like how when they asked what we wanted to see less of, Jordan touched his mustache. Subbed the first time I watched a reaction by you guys and then went back and watched the others.
Yaay, thank you so much for your support! Haha yes, you're 100% correct - a few of our videos are out of order so you may see the mustache one more time yet!
great channel, great choice of movies already. If you haven't seen em, fifth element, Shawshank redemption, demolition man, judge dredd (both of them), hook
Hi Maplenuts, great reaction to a great action flick. I've just recently discovered your channel and I've subscribed. I love action thrillers like The Terminator & Terminator 2. WWII aerial warfare movies like Memphis Belle & Red Tails. Horror like An American Werewolf In London and comedy like Good Morning Vietnam - please react to all of these asap and I wish you all the best with everything :)
Just recently found you guys and you are very chill and fun to watch. Hoping for success for you! Something you might consider is using something like the imdb top 250 movies of all time. Might be a good way to stay "focused" on what to watch. And yes, agree with everyone, Jordans mustache is super keen.
If you fine folks are a fan of science fiction might I suggest Stargate for a movie reaction, or The Expanse for series reaction if y'all decide to delve into tv series
This movie is classic 90's cheese .. Im thinking that old wedge of Muenster at the store that no one wants to buy but you still look at it every time. Anyway.. I grew up in Hawaii and the Los Angeles harbor area. The ocean was a part of my daily life for decades. Sharks: Generally will not mess with you if you keep moving and ignore it. They are damn near blind and want an easy meal. Unfortunately surfers are attacked by sharks due to mistaken identity. From below, to a blind ass shark, the surfboard with legs hanging over looks like a sea turtle. Easy pickins for the shark. My personal favorite sea creature is the Manta Ray. Such a graceful and majestic creature. They are totally harmless to humans. They are filter feeders, they just filter sea water thru and any amebas and plankton gets eaten. They actually enjoy human contact and are quite gentle for something the size of a school bus! There are tons of videos of people swimming with the Manta Rays. #savethemantas
Aww thank you so much!! ❤ I've been too scared to watch horror movies my whole life haha, but I'm thinking it might finally be time I start breaking into some!
I used to watch this film a lot and I thought it was just my personal guilty pleasure. I forgot practicaly everything except Johnny handcuffing Bodhi while almost being drowned and that they yelled at each other a lot. I am not so sure if I still like it and I also avoided the remake.
4:55 That look of confusion. "They vanish like a virgin on prom night" = she's no longer a virgin, therefore the virgin has vanished. LOL

Charismatic villain? Hans Gruber.
Now watch Hot Fuzz. You can't really appreciate Hot Fuzz unless you've seen Point Break. And Chinatown. And Bad Boys. And...
29:47 He *_does_* have a gun = shoot!
Hey guys! So what's funny, is if you watch, the first "The Fast and the Furious" movie us *exactly* this movie, but with cars. Great job! 😉👍
great channel, great choice of movies already. If you haven't seen em, fifth element, Shawshank redemption, demolition man, judge dredd (both of them), hook
Thank you!! And thank you also for all the movie recommendations!
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
Awww omg you're so sweet! Thank you ❤❤❤ We hope your day fantastic too!
one of my favorite movies :)
The silhouetting is a choice so you cant tell its not the actors surfing.
Oooh yes, that makes sense!
Aww thank you so much for your kind words and support! And for all of the recommendations!
@maplenutsreact You're very welcome and no problem :) it's great to be here and yes I highly recommend those films.
Just recently found you guys and you are very chill and fun to watch. Hoping for success for you! Something you might consider is using something like the imdb top 250 movies of all time. Might be a good way to stay "focused" on what to watch. And yes, agree with everyone, Jordans mustache is super keen.
Aww Thank you so much!! And good idea to check out IMDB's top movies!
Great reaction. Please watch Escape from New York, The Last Dragon, and the original Fright Night next. Thanks.
Thank you! And thanks for the recommendations too!
I just found you two, I like the chemistry. I hope to see some heavier films here and ill be subscribing.
The recent namesake remake was not good. There was another loose remake in 2001 that proved wildly successful. It's titled The Fast and the Furious.
U guys seen " LITTLE BOY" Great movie 👍
Ooo, never heard of it! We'll have to check it out, thank you!
@@maplenutsreact nice 1, hope u like it 👍
Love this movie! But the worst aussie accent at the end from the police!
If you fine folks are a fan of science fiction might I suggest Stargate for a movie reaction, or The Expanse for series reaction if y'all decide to delve into tv series
Oh yes, we love Sci-fi! Thank you for the recommendations!
I just discovered your channel. I love y'all chemistry. Curious if y'all like horror movies. Slashers like scream brings in lots of views
Aww thank you so much!! ❤ I've been too scared to watch horror movies my whole life haha, but I'm thinking it might finally be time I start breaking into some!
Scream would be perfect because even though it's intense it's not overwhelming or gory. Plus there is a lot of humor in it
Well I discovered y'all today. I have seen two videos: one with mustache and one without stache. I want to see LESS OF Stache.
✌️❤❤!.
But where is a scene in shower, where naked badass girl beat up Utah??
gotta side with chandra here. would've let bodhi go surf his final wave, and dr. cox was absolutely the villain lol. good answers.
and don't worry, we could all taste the sweat.
love the movie, and during the slow parts i am admiring Jordan's 'stache, which shames Burt Reynolds and Tom Selleck.
and the reboot is the absolute worst. Don't bother.
Please watch the cornetto trilogy
Thank you for the recommendation!!
You left out one of the best parts: "get me two". Come on, do better.
I used to watch this film a lot and I thought it was just my personal guilty pleasure. I forgot practicaly everything except Johnny handcuffing Bodhi while almost being drowned and that they yelled at each other a lot. I am not so sure if I still like it and I also avoided the remake.
One of the surfers from the fight scene on beach was actually Anthony Kedis from The Red Hot Chilli Pepper's
Hahaha I love that! I'll have to go back and look out for him!
try 1990 JACOBS LADDER with Tim robins
