Bohdi's line is, "It's not tragic to die doing what you love." Swayze did some great work. Check out 'Ghost' from 1990, and his best known film, 'Dirty Dancing'.
One of my main takeaways from rewatching this nowadays is that it's a terrific looking film. Don Peterman's cinematography is just beautiful. So much better looking than most modern action flicks.
#CrazyForSwayze Roadhouse is such a classic. And, yes definitely Dirty Dancing. It's a great Summer film. And Black Dog, whoa momma, don't hit any speed bumps!
Yes, the actor did indeed do a lot of the skydiving scenes. Swayze was already experienced at sky diving. He did over 50 sky diving scenes for the movie.
Addie, you know exactly what happens to Johnny Utah. He quits the FBI, changes his name, and becomes a contract killer for the Russian mob. In fact he's so good at it people called him 'The Boogeyman'. Then his wife and dog dies and it goes all wonky.
Another Keanu Reeves movie worth watching is Constantine. It deviates heavily from its DC comics source material, but it’s a memorable Keanu Reeves movie. There’s also a sequel in development for it.
Swayze got so into parachuting that the scenes in the movie were done at the very end. Karthryn Bigelow was so scared he’d die jumping right in the middle of the movie.
One of my all-time favorite movies! 🔥🔥🔥 The first walkthrough at the FBI office was a single shot. The guy 10:12 that shot himself in the foot during the FBI raid is the Lead Singer of, Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Australia scenes were shot in Oregon.👍🏽
9:11 the blond surfer that Keanu scalps is professional surfer Matt Archbold who also was the stunt double that did all of Patrick Swayze's surfing scenes!
The woman that beat up Johnny is Julie Michael’s. She’s an accomplished stuntwoman, actress and producer. She was in another movie with Patrick Swayze called “Roadhouse”, survived an attack by Jason Vorhees in “Jason Goes to Hell” and is still active in the industry.
People need to watch more Swayze stuff, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, The Outsiders, Red Dawn, To Wong Foo and Road House just to name some. This man was a beast
1:57 I love many things about this movie, but this line might be the peak (and I've used it many times). John C. McGinley throwing Dr. Cox vibes years before Scrubs. 🤣
Not sure if this has been said or not but Swayze was barred by the studio from doing the skydiving scenes due to insurance issues, so he took a camera crew and a few friends and shot the skydiving scenes himself just because the studio wouldn't let him. Absolute legend!
For some peak Patrick Swayze, check out Road House (1989). Swayze plays a highly experienced and skilled bouncer, hired to straighten out a small town bar. And, you know, stuff happens.
For a split second I thought the thumbnail said Dante's Peak and I got really excited. Eh, all the same, this is gonna be awesome too! If only Addie saw this before Hot Fuzz, haha.
At some point someone decided to make a buddy cop movie with Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey with John C. McGinley as their angry boss and that it shouldn't be a comedy.
Siskel and Ebert, the American Film Institute, The Academy, NASA, the UN, and others have all stated Point Break is not just the greatest movie of all time - but the greatest piece of art in all of human history. Truly an incomparable BANGER
I was 19 years old when this was released and I saw it like 10 times in the theater near my house. Have always been a Swayze and Reeves fan so as a kid this was heaven. Great reaction as always. 😄
Patrick is also in "The Outsiders" it's a very, VERY, star-stacked cast in that movie. Many great actors first "big" movie. Very good movie. And of course "Dirty Dancing".
Interesting tidbit, the bad guys who beat up Keanu on the beach, the one guy who gets shot in the foot is Anthony Kiedis, the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (The one who tells him "That would be a waste of time")
One of my favorite movies ever. I was 20 when this movie came out and saw it twice in theaters. Keanu and Patrick were great in this movie. This is one movie where I skipped watching the remake, as I do not believe it could capture what the original had, nor what Keanu and Patrick brought to the movie. And I highly recommend viewing other films by the director, Kathryn Bigelow. Her first film, released in 1987, was Near Dark and is about vampires. There so many great Patrick Swayze movies out there: Red Dawn, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Road House; too many to remember. He was also in a post-apocalyptic film called Steel Dawn in which his real-life wife. Lisa Niemi, co-starred.
The casting of Gary Busey in this is definitely a nod to his role in "Big Wednesday", a real iconic and often overlooked surf movie. And if you wanna see Keanu Reeves playing guitar in another overlooked movie, you should check out "Permanent Record". It's a bit of a tear-jerker, but you might appreciate it's references to HMS Pinafore. So... Yeah.
In my younger days, all the girls were in love with either Johnny Utah or Bosh and honestly, I couldn’t be mad at either choices. It seems Addie likes a clean cut Keanu and I can’t be mad at that either.
Kathryn Bigelow -- one of the best action directors of all time. Others of her pictures to watch are Near Dark and Strange Days. As to more young Keanu -- Dangerous Liaisons and River's Edge.
Good one, Addie! Did you know that Keanu loves Shakespeare too? He actually had a small part in Kenneth Banagh's Much Ado About Nothing. You might want to add it to your list. Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂 Oh, and Patrick Swayze, the big three for you yet to see... Ghost, Roadhouse, and Dirty Dancing.
This is one of my favourite movies, and I’m glad you are watching the Rocky movies. Stallone is awesome. But I really love this movie. My favourite role of Patrick Swayze.
The great song in the end of the final scene (30:04): Ratt - Nobody Rides For Free. It has an official music video with frames from the movie. (For me this film is in the top 3 of Keanu's movies.)
Bodhi's last wave was actually filmed at Waimea Bay (North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii), not Bells Beach, Australia. The stunt surfer was Double D (Darrick Doerner). Nice reaction, btw -
@Addie, did you catch that one from the group of local guys who picked a fight w/Keanu before Botie came to the rescue, and then later gets shot in the foot by Gary Busey during the house raid, is Anthony Kiedis, aka the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers? He's the one with the long, thin braids. He (and Flea) also show up in Back to the Future II as the guys that want to drag race Michael J. Fox. 🙂 Also, Addie, you now need to see Dirty Dancing. It's THE Patrick Swayze movie that defined his career.
If you remember after Tony and Thor fought in the first Avengers movie, when they got on the helicarrier, “Tony said no hard feelings Point Break, you got a mean swing.” You get that reference now.
Love the ending. I've surfed at Bell's Beach and it looks nothing like that. 🙂 And the Australian accent of the cop is hilarious! Great movie, though. I saw it in the cinema and it was a rush!
An underrated Keanu Reeves performance: Bram Stoker's Dracula. Everyone talks about Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins in that movie (and for a certain subset, Monica Bellucci), but Keanu Reeves delivers a solid performance, even if he wasn't given all that much to do.
Johnny Mnemonic (1995) is another solid Keanu Reeves movie and a personal favorite of mine. Also, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) is a rare case of the sequel being better than the original, and I believe the reason those characters stayed relevant for so long.
Gotta watch Patrick Swayze in GHOST (1990) and Keannu in THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE (1997). Great reaction to Point Break, one of my favorites and 2 of their best performances.
Yeah, the Keanu crush to the point of giddiness is real!!! I was a teenager in the early/mid 90's and he was my pin up😍. You should check Keanu out in the 1993 movie Shakespeare adaption, Much Ado About Nothing.
Sorry you can't have 2 movie boyfriends ! Pick 1 ❤ Patrick Swayze movie: Roadhouse (1989) Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott, Kelly Lynch Awesome music with Jeff Healey & band Dirty Dancing (1987) Jennifer Grey Patrick Swayze

Great reaction, thank you. This movie is in my all time top 3. I love how the final part gives us hints of the new situation. Johnny has now longer messy hair embracing a life he loves, surfing every day, being more wild and, after letting Bodhi go, throwing away his badge. On the other side Bodhi has shorter hair because he now has to live by the rules of society, trying not get caught by the police and without his lifelong friends. Amazing comparison.
You have to remember that Patrick Swayze did all of these action and surfing scenes with a severe messed up back from a small plane crash he was involved in.
Road House is an iconic movie by Patrick Swayze. And if you want to watch another movie with a similar plot, you got the first Fast and the Furious, instead of surfing, it's got fast cars!
Bohdi's line is, "It's not tragic to die doing what you love." Swayze did some great work. Check out 'Ghost' from 1990, and his best known film, 'Dirty Dancing'.
_Roadhouse!_

For a younger Patrick check out Uncommon Valor. It stars Gene Hackman. It’s generally considered a bad movie, but I really enjoyed it
Yes, the actor did indeed do a lot of the skydiving scenes. Swayze was already experienced at sky diving. He did over 50 sky diving scenes for the movie.
Best line..."Utah, get me 2!"
What I love is Anthony Kiedis gets one line in this and delivers it like he's in a Red Hot Chilli Peppers video with the hand movements n everything
Such a _PRAT!_ Like his dad in _Lethal Weapon._

Ah yes, this is just a John Wick prequel 😂😂
Actually, a number of years later, the NFL players go on strike and he gets a chance to live his pro-football dreams as a replacement player!
" Utah!!! get me 2! "
Probably wouldn't help to curb your Keanu crush to know he's also one of the nicest, most humble people in Hollywood.
I can attest to that first hand!
Just don't tell her about The Lake House.
ratt has done the song for this soundtrack and it's called nobody rides for free. A good band and a great song too

He was an avid parachuter before shooting this movie.

This is the best movie of Patrick Swayze, RIP. And the "adiós amigo" jump is him doing it, no cgi or stunt double. Pure magic
