Well if we're doing non-whisky then fine I'll add them as well 😅 Ah man my Slyrs (schleers) Amontillado video is coming out next Friday, would be funny if you and I dropped it at the same time 😃 Whisky (and non whisky) In: Van Rys 20 year old Brandy, 6x Jameson Black Barrel (there was a party), Glendalough 13 Mizunara, Benromach Contrasts Bordeaux 12, The Dublin Liberties Copper Alley 10, Suntory 1987 Yearbook Whisky. Whisky Out: Old Pulteney 12, 4x Jameson Black Barrel 😅, Ballantine's 7 Bourbon. Cheers Vin 🥃
INs: Glencadam 10YO, Bunna 12 CS 2022, Kilchoman Sanig and Isle of Raasay Sherry Cask OUTs: Ardbeg 10YO, some wines and beers Seriously considering this HP cask strength (seen release 4 in my area) Keep up good work! Cheers
Only four in, but it still wasn't a cheap month for me! In ascending order of cost: The Tiger's Eye Master Blender's Edition, F.E.W. Rye (The Heart Cut #05), Eden Mill 2020 Limited Release and... Glenugie 1980 Deoch an Doras 30 year old!
Always intetesting to see what you've had in/out. After a quiet 3 months I took the plunge on 5 bottles this month - OB Edradour 12 Madeira, Singatoey Secret Orkney 14 YO, OB Glenallachie 9 Oloroso, OB Glencadam PX Reserva & Woodrows Bunnahabhain 5 Moine Oloroso bottled for the Islay Whisky Club. No kills this month but several nearing the kill zone. Off to Scotland next month so planning a private visit to Loch Lomond distillery as I'm looking to pick up a couple of bottles after some. great tastings. Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the HP bottle.
Really interesting - I like the JW Green Label as well (currently my only blend), but I would not say it is very smoky.... I am not a huge peat fan, and this one works for me. Could be a different batch or the way we perceive whiskies differently?
I wasnt such a fan of the Green label ( although nothing wrong with it, but better value elsewhere in my opinion), what do you think of the Platnium label (18 yo) ?
I always enjoy these videos, Vin. I agree with the feedback to review a brandy once in a while. Exploration is a major element of what makes whisky fun. I also agree that the Green Label is a nice dram and in fact the only JW I keep in my cabinet. I'm trying to not buy, but I did pick up a Kilchoman PX and only killed one, an aging Elijiah Craig Barrel Proof. Cheers!
@@NoNonsenseWhisky I'm a fan of the Loch Gorm and the PX and think they are both exceptionally good. They are a bit too expensive, but we need to treat ourselves once in a while.
Hi Vin, Don’t mind the Green Label. It’s the only blended malt in the Johnny Walker range. For me in was Kilchoman Islay barley, eagle rare 10, Benromach peat smoke (bourbon) to replace the empty bottle from last month and Glen Scotia double cask rum finish. Out-knob creek 9.Slàinte Vin. PS ,no sample Saturday last week?
Island Green is also a blended malt with 43% ABV but they dropped the age statement. There is a lot more Caol Ila in it making it much more peated than the Green. The reviews I have been reading are certainly positif, ratings between 82 and 87.
I think the green label is the best in their range. I like it pretty well. I’m also of the philosophy that 40% is bottom work for my dollar; I don’t tend to buy a 40% if I can avoid it. I’m really only happy at 45% or northward.
If you like JW Green Label, as I do, you will almost certainly like JW Island Green. I think it's a travel retail bottling only but one of JW's finest IMO.
The German Whisky is pronounced "shleers" with the sh closer to a "ch" is words like itch (the soft German sch). It is produced at the Schliersee, a small lake in Bavaria.
I bought a bottle of Slyrs last year at a duty free shop in Munich airport as a present for a friend. That bottle was aged in virgin American oak. We tasted it together. The neck pour was pleasant but not too memorable to be frank. Dunno how it developed further though as it oxidized.
Outs - Belle Meade Reserve Bourbon, Starward Nova Single Malt, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair. Ins - Laphroaig Càirdeas White Port & Madeira Cask, Whiskey Del Bac Dorado, Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2013, Lucky Seven The Holiday Toast Bourbon, and The Single Malts of Scotland 12 YO Caol Ila. Sláinte5!

Hah don't worry bud, my video won't be any time soon
Whisky out = zero

A strong tipping of the scales there!

I've tried a couple of the HP CSs now and they've all been stellar

I still need to get to Loch Lomond at some point. The stills they have there really fascinate me

Definitely perception. Though I also don't think it's very smoky. Just a little tickle to keep the palate interested
Such a great video. Love the format of quick thoughts on what is going out and what we can look forward too. Cheers!
Cheers dude! High praise from a great channel!
I wasnt such a fan of the Green label ( although nothing wrong with it, but better value elsewhere in my opinion), what do you think of the Platnium label (18 yo) ?
In my review I think I said the 18 was fine. Pretty good value but lacks that smokey depth that I love the 15 for
Just got the Canadian corn whiskey, will be trying that today. cheers
Oh cool! Let me know what you think

Oh man that PX is so good isn't it. I nearly bought a bottle of that after my Sample Saturday, but I couldn't really afford it at the time

Sadly not, I didn't have time to make one (and not this week as well). I sort of see Sample Saturday as an "as and when" kinda vibe

The Highland Park cask strength release no.3 is a really decent whisky…definitely needs water, but it’s a good’un

I got that Highland Park on offer £39 I think, not my taste at the moment but one for my future taste buds.
It's a bit of a monster isn't it. Have you tried it at lower ABVs?
@@NoNonsenseWhisky no never tried HP ever
Excited to see your review for the Highland Park! 🔥
Definitely coming soon (ish)
try Maciera brandy !
I'll keep an eye out!
Hi Vin.I'm a Welshman living in Germany and have drunk Slyrs (pronounced "Slears") down in München. They make some nice drams !!
This one's certainly very tasty and will get me looking for more
Busy month -
Whisky In - Cotswold (hearts and craft pineau des charentes); Cotswold (The Heart Cut); Aber Falls (6yr old); Cooper King (Transatlantic); Welsh wind (inaugural); Torabhaig (club reserve no6); Raasay (cask strength special release).
Whisky Out - Circumstance (Barley); Circumstance (Single Grain); Cotswolds (Peated) ; Ludlow (No5 - PX cask); Raasay (R 02.1)
Very busy! And a lot of support for newer distilleries! Have you tried the ITWW yet?
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Hi Vin - not yet - its in my rather large queue.
I just can’t bring myself to buy a 40% whisky
Why?
Because I’ve never found one where 40% holds sufficient mouth feel and flavour
Noooo green label is gone 🥺
Think it might have been my last JW as well!
Need some more haha?
Always 🤣
@@NoNonsenseWhisky let me know if you’re going to any festivals and I’ll bring you something
