I've had on for a few weeks now and this review is exactly how I'd describe the experience. Good to see the Simhub integration as I couldn't get it to work in AC with the native beta software at all.
My PC wouldn't connect to the HF8 with the supplied software. Got it working through simhub in the end. I went back to my old Gametrix JetSeat because it's lower profile and forms nicely around my racing seat. The HF8 just felt like I was sitting on a memory foam pad rather than in a racing seat.
i had headphones on and didnt really notice anything acoustically. the microphone picked it up sometimes though and nvidia had some trouble filtering it out. but that mic is also just very sensitive. certainly doesnt make more noise than the DD shaking the entire rig anway ;)
@@SimracingPopometer Cool. I only have a TM GT2 wheel which is not part of the DD master gamer race(big mistake on my part) so it's only appropriate I attach a low definition seat peripheral with it. Ordered now.😆
I tried it on the playseat and it was very uncomfortable. It's relatively thick, so you would have to adjust your seat. I couldn't find a comfortable position and didn't find the "feedback" (it's more like effects) worth the discomfort.
@@tobias2252 I had to move my seat back one step indeed and was sitting a bit higher that usual. no discomfort in my seat at least, but I guess that can vary
I bought the HF8 but returned it within a few days. While it worked, sort of, it did not add to the immersion and in fact distracted from the simulation. Certainly not worth the $250 price tag.
I would say the true force has a much shorter reaction time and everything is more instant. so you'd have a slight time delay between the wheel and the hf8. it you already have the true force (and feel like you want that) then I don't think you need the hf8 on top
passed it on to someone else, its an immersion thing, but for pro level esports its not really needed. im driving a few hours each day and its a bit much massaging ;)
Hi, thanks for the great information. I wonder for this if we need the paid version of simhub or not. Looks to me it doesn't add much to it, does it? as this is not a buttkicker. I am on the fence if i buy this or not at the moment and want to plan for it. Thanks
I don't think I can tell the difference between a 100ms long pulse and a 50ms long pulse. so no, don't think the paid sim hub version is needed: however, it's a "pay what you want" model, so 1€/$ is fine and you support it still :) the whole hf8 thing really is a nice to have, it can't compete with proper haptic systems on actuators that cost thousands of euros. but it gives you a glimpse and sort of a "more alive" feeling while driving. it does not however provide information you'll act upon driving wise. you may use more kerb or grass to trigger a vibration though ;)
I just received it today. Went straight with simhub. I saw the software comes with HF8 has brake effect. But i don't see Simhub has that option. Do you see that? Or it is one of those 3 ground effects? By the way, i played with AC. And actually cannot make it work with the HF8 software yet so i cannot compare the brake effect.
it depends which channel each game really offers. "brake effect" I guess you are looking for the slip of the front tires, or the ABS, or to trigger the effect by a certain amount of brake input
Tested whole day and found out i kind of liking the NLR software more. But the rpms limiter is kind triggered too early. Too bad there is no threshold setting for it. The reason i like the NLR SW is the combination betweem road effect and suppension gives me very subtle effect when i go throigh a turm. But i cannot turn that edfect in simhub. Played aroind with all road effects already. Also, very strange that for AC Kerb effect works in NLR SW but not in simhub, it is not supported in simhub.
@@dkb2080 which game are you trying? there were a few buttons to press and of course the hf8 driver to install, but this wasn't really tricky here. you could test if it works in general with an audio device perhaps?
I have been looking at the Ushake-6 myself but as a UK customer it would come out at over double the price of the HF8 after tax and delivery. I am struggling to justify it on that premise alone.
I'm trying to find comparisons between the 2 aswell. I'm very new to this kind of stuff, and also not much to spend on these kind of things. I'm still driving with a Logitech G25, attached to a decent foldable alu-frame. Which I do sitting on a regular desk-chair. So not a fancy setup. Some are raving about these HF8, others say "don't bother, tranducers are better, more detailed" and apparently the Ushake 6 has that. HF8 is already kinda pricey as it is. But that alone shouldn't be a reason to be satisfied with less. (always into bargain-hunting). Also don't want anything noisy. My parents live below me and my neighbours wouldn't be happy either.
Thanks Nils, just purchased the HF8 and this profile is really great for ACC!!

Good honest review. Thanks. Might get this just for some kicks when racing and it doesn't make much noise.

Simpit found if you remove the Sparco cushions it offsets the HF8 thickness so you do not need to change wheel or pedal positions.

Could you upload your settings profile please so we can quickly give it a test rather than manually copying all your values. Thanks!
Copied them in the end and didnt take too long! If you have a more refined setup now though that would still be appreciated please
Do you think this would be a good fit with the Logitech DD trueforce?

Hi. Great video. Will this work with GT7 on PS5?
best to consult their website about it mate!
but it can work based on any audio info, so if the ps5 has an audio jack... it should
Wondering if you have updated your settings and would like to make a new video with shared config
I have not, sir!
Will these settings work for f1 2022 on pc and gt7 on ps5 ?
Sorry, I don't know :/ Not quite sure what channels these games put out and then if they also make sense the same way.
Did you get around trying it with GT7?
1 year later, do you still use it? Thanks.

unfortunately not, would have to ask you to take it from the video.

Why is everybody reviewing this and not the Sim racing studios Ushake6? I understand it is more money, but it is also much better.
because they dont reach out to content creators for testing
