He played his bass like a regular guitar; in fact, I think he played guitar before picking up the bass. For those that don’t know, he was killed when the band’s tour bus hit an icy patch on the road(Sweden?). He was ejected from the bus and it rolled and landed on him. Horrible.

For Whom the Bell Tolls is a novel by Ernest Hemingway published in 1940. It tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American volunteer attached to a Republican guerrilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. As a dynamiter, he is assigned to blow up a bridge during an attack on the city of Segovia.
The instrumentals you MUST react to are “Orion” and “Call of Kthulu”. The only time I’ve seen Metallica play live, they only played 3 songs and this was one of them, at the Chris Cornell Tribute Concert.
(Its about war) This is one of my fav metallica songs love it!!!! Creeping death is amazing too I remember being a kid i snuck out of my house to go see them in concert lol. I was punnished at the time(for sneaking out to go see another concert...I believe it was slayer lol) and i was not allowed to go even tho me and my bff at thentime somehow got her dad to buy us tickets. (not to mention i was in 7th summer going into 8th grade so....i was too young to go without my older brother) i mean....they left me no choice...of course i snuck out to go lol. Outnthe window I went and down the tree over the bridge to philly! and I remember the whole damn concert was amazing the ppl were amazing i met alotta cool ppl metal heads are the best crowd I'm sorry hands down. They are like family. But the song creeping death hit me the most because at the one part where he's like "die ...by...my hand l creep across the land killing first born man" came on and the WHOLE audience started to chant DIE DIE DIE and it echoed in the stadium (spectrum. The old philly stadium) and it was sooo loud it felt like it went thru me lol. anywhoooo i remember standing there and thinking.....how can anyone not love this experiance this music this crowd? I WANT THIS WHOLE NIGHT TO LAST FOREVER! That whole experiance was a mess for me to start too...i had my 40 taken off me on the speedline lol (yeah in the 80s a 7th grader or 8th grader having a 40 wasnt even a big deal really lmao) so me and carrie shared hers. (And she just got over the flu and gave it to me a few days after! Making me miss the last week of my summer...totes worth it tho)so we get in....we get to our spots and realize...WERE LITTLE KIDS AND SHORT AS FUCK lol cldnt see shit! So then the lights dim the stage starts getting ready to start the main show and BOOM...i lost my friend like instantly when metallica came on lol I somehow got pushed to the front she got pushed to the back. I broke my wrist against the barracaid but didn't feel it till I got home again.wich i had no way to get home after the show cuz Carrie had all my money for the speedline lol. I litt hitched a ride w these ppl that lived semi cl9se to me then I walked like 3 hours the rest of the way. but know what id do it all again 100000 times over. I had goosebumps during that part. Oh and the part where the justice statue crumbles and it falls in big chunks to the ground... ughhh just sooo good lol I love older metallica.i miss old speed metal lol. You shld look into suicidal tendencies. I like all thier shit but you may enjoy the song you can't bring me down Or waking the dead.

It's about soldiers in a "foxhole" in the fight. "for whom the bell tolls" is the death bell. who's next? for whom does the bell toll? it tolls for the 5 guys fighting for a cause they don't fully understand in a situation that is for all intents and purposes hell. for them it can be like they are already considered dead and are just fighting until their predetermined bullet finds them each in turn. That is for whom the bell tolls.

(Its about war)
This is one of my fav metallica songs love it!!!!
I've seen Metallica in their Hay Day the 80's those Shows were Amazing👊🤘
They're STILL amazing
@@tallycahamuhlhetru26 I saw them open for Ozzy, saw the Damage Justice Tour, 3 times on the Black Album tour, Death Magnetic tour, and will see them 2 times in November at Welcome to Rockville. They always deliver.
"Hay Day"?? No. "Heyday"
@@Zseventyone either way I think you know what I meant ✌️
@@myproject13ttt 😁🤘🏼
This is my favorite song that came out in the 80's.... guaranteed 💯 !!!!!
So many great songs!
Yes I could go on and on 😆. They been around since the early 80s so the list of songs is long
for your female freiday's groups you should really check out the runaways and watch this video about them The Runaways: Tragic Details About The Iconic Band there the frist all feman rock group in the early 70s i dear you to even look them up. all female singers or groups owe there successful careers to them for they were the ones to open up the doors for all females music careers to them from the 70s to now in 2021 and beyond.
Orion is the instrumental you seek, the bell tolls for the soldier about to die in battle. "One" is their 1st video that won multiple awards. Very deep song and video. Lastly, Enter Sandman Live from Moscow 1991 is an excellent song on its own but there were reportedly 1.6 Million in attendance which is amazing to see.
Well done you two. It's time to see them live. They've been my metal heroes since 1982. I'm 57 years old and have seen Metallica live 29 times and counting. No metal band other than possibly Iron Maiden puts on a better live show. Keep bringing the noise. I enjoy your reviews.
I can’t hear this song without immediately seeing the Zombieland opening credits in my head 😈
Hahaha… Zombieland, my go-to zombie movie :) the movie version is a cover by, Chronica.
People who watches this off app to listen on other apps instead of buying premium😂 (Like if true)
ORION..INSTRUMENTAL
It's about soldiers in a "foxhole" in the fight. "for whom the bell tolls" is the death bell. who's next? for whom does the bell toll? it tolls for the 5 guys fighting for a cause they don't fully understand in a situation that is for all intents and purposes hell. for them it can be like they are already considered dead and are just fighting until their predetermined bullet finds them each in turn. That is for whom the bell tolls.
Not bad basic mataica song. You want something different listen to Edgar and Johnny Winters tobacco road live from 1970. Come on you can do it
The Call of Ktulu on this same album is all instrumentals... This is my favorite album of theirs... I miss Cliff Burton...😪😪❤❤
"Orion" is an all instrumental Metallica song, it's awesome and I'd love to see you guys react to it!
GREAT REACTION GUYS!! METALLICA HAS SOME INSTRUMENTAL SONGS (MASTERPIECES). ONE OF THEM IS "THE CALL OF KTULU", IT'S FROM THE SAME ALBUM "FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS" IS. ANOTHER MASTERPIECE IS "ORION" FROM THE ALBUM MASTER OF PUPPETS. I SUGGEST YOU TO REACT THE LIVE VERSIONS, ENJOY THEM!!! 🤘🏼🎶
Orion is the instrumental that you are looking for. Metallica definitely has instrumental only songs! Orion is not the only one, but most people would say start with that.
1:44 that's the Bassist (playing his bass) but using to do the lead parts. Cliff Burton was no stranger of using his bass to play lead solos in Metallica songs.
This Is A War Song About Soldiers Fighting For Freedom>>>>
So happy its this one when it comes on the radio n not Hells Bells by ACDC... you should check that out too n see what you like.
Orion is THE masterpiece to me.
I have got to tell you how happy my heart was when you said, “I have become a huge hard rock fan!”!!
My mind goes back to the day I saw you on James’ channel, Rome Life Reacts, and how you said you had never liked rock music and never would (not your exact words) and then I saw you start up your own reaction channel, so I subscribed immediately, because I KNEW we’d get you turned around! I feel like a proud momma right now! Lol! Keep the adventure going!! Love you two!!❤️🎶
Please react to metallic with the San Francisco Symphony!!!
Time marches on for whom the bell tolls. The bell tolls for some who is close to death, times running out.
You like instrumentals you might like Buckethead check him out
Metallica has a song called Orion that is instrumentals only. Great song.
You guys are a delight to watch. Thank you for taking me back down memory lane when I first discovered those songs... a lifetime ago. Can't wait to see you react to Orion or Call of Ktulu. Any chance you would give Queensryche a listen? I remember hearing Take Hold of the Flame for the first time... pure joy.
In a recent reaction Amber said that the media has people separated and music brings us together. Great music transcends everything. I'm glad to see so many young people enjoying our old music hahaha! And I won't even bring race into it haha again!
Their cover art is a prime example of how people used to use actual artists, as opposed to minimalistic, digital clipart, for their music/book/movie covers.
Metallica "Orion" is a instrumental masterpiece. Got to react to that.
*Fade to Black* is one of Metallica's best. Surprised it isn't mentioned more often.
There is a book called "For Whom the..." By Ernest Hemingway about a war in Spain. Hetfield loved it. I do too. This song is about a battle or battling in general. The lyrics of this song are absolutely incredible. Especially coming from a 23? year old.
Love them! Looooove this music! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ask not for whom the bell tolls, for it tolls for thee
"Orion" off of Master of Puppets is an instrumental !!!
Orion. You gotta hear Orion if you want a long instrumental.
Heard Metallica for the first time in 1982. I was 13 and there was no turning back. I have spent a small fortune seeing them live.. Love you have found them
I saw "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and thought you were reacting to the Bee Gees! I'm not a Metallica fan, so I couldn't listen to this whole video. I know you like the Bee Gees, so give their song a listen. Robin shines hugely in that one.
I thought the exact same thing! You took the words right out of my mouth. I was disappointed when it wasn't them. 😔
Orion , call of ktulu and to live is to die are instrumentals
