Personally I think this song is a very well crafted tribute to their old mentors, like Judas Priest and Motorhead: it's easy to detect some similarities with songs like "Overkill" and "Rapid Fire", but they were able to elaborate these former ingredients and mix them with their own style. In addition to this I would like to underline the high quality of both mixing and production, the sound is astounding. Also, this song absolutely rips and I hope the whole album follows suit.
Amber nailed it! Connecting generations. I'm glad to be able to share listening and going to Metallica shows with my son now. Also this song's lyrics are amazing for a live show. How the crowd and band unify and became one force of energy in a night. Amazing song, simply amazing!
I've been into Metallica since '83, but have been so busy recently I didn't even know about this. I'm so glad I got to hear it for the first with you two. We'll share this first forever.
I thought this was something from their 80's catalogue that I hadn't heard. I'm not a huge fan of them, but this blows most new music out of the water.
@@listenup7284 Have you heard "Hit the lux" ?? It's interesting because when I first heard the intro to this I thought "this sounds familiar, a bit more glossy but still garage-y"
@@listenup7284 I have probably heard the majority of their stuff at some point or another... and as I said, I am not a huge fan. I also didn't say I liked this, I just said it blows most new music away.
You've got to try Sabaton - Christmas truce. Probably the best modern day Christmas song about the spontaneous truce that broke out in world war I between German and English forces.
Agreed that this is a worthwhile song but Sabaton has a ridiculous catalogue of awesome music. In fact, a fell album reaction of their last Album The War To End All Wars (History Edition) is the best away to appreciate the wholistic greatness that it is.
This is awfully surprising such a new song. This song has been blowing up every where. Personally I liked the song so much I immediately picked up my guitar and learned it today.
In the song “hit the lights” off their debut album in 1983, kill ‘‘em all, the final verse lyrics are “we’ll never stop, we’ll never quit ‘cause we’re Metallica!” They are LIVING those lyrics and I LOVE it! They’ll be thrashing thru their 60 and on into their 70s I bet!
I can't wait to hear all of 72 Seasons when it comes out April 14th. I brought my tickets to the Dallas stadium in August. In my family I know of three different generations listening to Metallica. My brother and I and have been a fans since 1986, my uncle in his 70's, my niece who's in her 30's and now her kids.
This reaction was outstanding. Amber with hella metal stankface @3:25 is excellent. And Jay looking like he can't believe his ears the entire time. Good stuff.
I grew up with Metallica since middle school back in the 80s. They were the reason why I was a rocker in high school. My husband saw them open for Ozzy at one of their first performances. They still have it! YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO "FADE TO BLACK!" It is AMAZING!
It bears repeating, they are going on tour again; go if you can because they can't have all that many tours left in them! One of these days we've got to see you two do a proper thrash to a metal song!
Lmmfao, Mama slid down in the chair and said "I feel like they just melted me" and I told everyone, if you crank this song up on a bad ass stereo system it will melt your face off your head. Then on the bridging the gap, I'm 50yrs old and me and all my friends are going to see Metallica and so is my son and his friends, and a bunch young highschool dudes at my work were saying how they're going to see Metallica. So that's 3 different age groups right there going to see one band who bridged the generations together.
You need to listen to "Wherever I may Roam" next.....and honestly, you guys need to attend a Metallica concert....its an experience you'll never forget....
I knew there were older songs I didnt know from them in the early 80s but to be out of the loop on new stuff. Haha. They had been on Jimmy Kimmel in late 2021 but I dont remember them talking about a new album
Nickelback just released a new album, and I don't think you have even done any old Nickelback. They deliver their songs in several different styles from hard rock, to ballads, to an almost country. You should really check them out. The new song San Quenton is pretty hard, but maybe start with Rockstar.
I love Nickelback and the new album. For an older tune, I would recommend starting with Burn It to the Ground (live version at Red Rocks is awesome) Also their cover of Sharp Dressed Man is great (that one was at some awards show, I believe).
HOLY COW!!!! Machine gun drums and that guitar was way BEYOND shredding! Your right, This needs to be played on repeat and definitely as loud as you dare. This is mega 'Wake the Neighbours' music! 😈
Two other recent songs you need to listen to.. off their last album. Moth into the flame 🔥 and Atlas Rise. Both of them remind of Ride the Lightning era Metallica. You two will also love Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold. Epic showpiece. I loved this
A throwback to their early speed/thrash metal days. If you want to check out some of their early stuff, I would suggest the album "Kill 'Em All". Try out the songs, The Four Horsemen, Hit The Lights, Motorbreath, Whiplash, or Metal Militia. Or for something truly amazing check out the bass solo by the late great Cliff Burton, "(Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth.
By the way, Metallica is on tour in 2023. Not exactly in your immediate neighbourhood but they do have dates booked in St. Louis and Arlington if you wanted to make the trip 😉 Just sayin'....LOL
Your right Amber, Metallica spans the generations. Believe it or not so does Pink floyd, I saw Roger Waters in concert & was amazed how many teens knew the words to some of the songs off old albums like Animals or Wish you were here.
I thought this was one of the better "latter" Metallica songs. I love the speed and the riff along with the grittier guitar solo. I noticed you haven't really done any older Metallica reactions. You should check out "Master of Puppets" of course or maybe "Creeping Death". Some of the instrumental stuff with Cliff on bass is really good too. Then there is Pantera. A band you should definitely check out. Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power are great albums.
With you guys reviewing Metallica lately, I wanted to suggest that you next do one of there songs with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. It was released as a dvd called Metallica S&M. Seeing you both love orchestra's when their included into songs, I thought this would be a nice way to view your next Metallica song. My recommendation would be either “Master of Puppets” which was recently made popular again from the NETFLIX series Stranger Things or their song called “Battery”. Either of these are older classics. Another great Metallica song you guys should review is "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)".
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes & once again YES!! These guys haven't lost a step since they started!! Everyone on this record is just kicking 🤘🤘🤘 'Unforgiven II' is a Metallica track you should check out! Please check out some more Meatloaf; 'Life is A Lemon and I Want My Money Back' 'A Kiss is a Terrible Thing To Waste' or 'Nothing Sacred Anymore' 🤘🤘🤘🤘
As a Chiefs fan, not appreciating the Bengals swag lol. Just playing it was a helluva game, and I don't mind losing to good teams. Metallica is my favorite band ever, and they inspired me to play guitar and bass. That being said, I don't feel like this song is all that mind blowing, but it was solid, fun, and frankly, I've waited 20 years for Metallica to sound this good again, and it brings back the energy that hooked me in the beginning.
I love this song because it reminds me so much of their first album, Kill ‘Em All. Since you really enjoy this song I recommend checking out a few songs from that album. Namely, the opening track “Hit The Lights” and “Whiplash.” Metallica have a pretty solid discography and the more you hear them the more you love them. Good video as always! ❤
Got that Bengals dub! Check out Metallica doing a song called “Fuel”…. It will pump you up for game day again. Maybe Metallica is a Cincy good luck charm for you Jay!
the first couple times I heard this song I didn't like it. Now that I've heard it several times and with the video, it's really growing on me. good choice.

Agreed Picked up on Maiden, Priest and Motorhead vibes and non the worse for it, brilliant!!!
Agreed. You can absolutely "hear" Motorhead in there.

"It's Metallica" they never hold back", loved that reaction with her hands at her forehead..I love it..
Hi Jay and Amber, This is from their brand new album, it's called 72 Seasons and is released on April 14th 2023!! 😀 😀 🤘 🤘 🎸 🎸 🎸
Been waiting on your reaction, love the new song!
Whatever you feel now... imagine doing what they do in your 60s. Fucking legends.
So many “Metallica” fans have been dumping on this new song, I’m in love with it!! So excited for the tour and seeing them in St Louis next November!!
Yep! This is a jam. Full stop.
In a decade filled with songs about material consumption and wet body parts ... nice to see real music being made still.
I couldn't agree more
wet body parts, lmfao!
i'm dead
You two are fantastic to watch and your reactions are great. I cannot wait for Metallica's new album!
Reminds me a lot of Brian May's guitar sound in Queen's early years. You can really hear that this is a band that loved Stone Cold Crazy.
Well they did cover that song so id say yes lol
Takes me back to the early days. Love it 🤟🤟
I thought this was something from their 80's catalogue that I hadn't heard. I'm not a huge fan of them, but this blows most new music out of the water.
Not a huge fan but you liked this? Anything they did in the 80s would blow your mind. This doesn't compare.

This is rocking for sure, but after listening to these guys for almost 40 years, I still say Creeping Death is my favorite. Love you guys!

Awesome t-shirt today Amber....well played!!

Take that woman to see Metallica now.

I translated in my head as "Eternal Light", but flame makes more sense

They're going back in time. Awesome.
Man-this is an awesome song! Excited for the new album. Headed into their 5th decade of kicking butt!!!
It’s so cool to see how you all have grown since your first , introduction to heavy metal! Love it !!
Metallica Disposable Heroes - Fastest Metallica song ever & incredible message & lyrics. Amazing song from beginning to end.
Loved this!! Have a great day everyone 😊
Finally a gift from the Covid lockdown. Leave it to Metallica to kick the door down toward the future.
The line "full speed or nothing" is a callback to the song Motorbreath from their first album. That line is in that song as well.
Actually it's Motorbreath, but yeah still on Kill Em All! 🤘
If I recall my Metallica lyrics correctly the line is "Don't stop for nothing, it's full speed or nothing." is from the second verse from Motorbreath.
@@tedraidergarcia1596 Damn, I knew that but for some reason I typed M.M. I was thinking Motorbreath. Good catch.

An instant classic. Sounds like Metallica to the core.
