Hold on, that’s almost there. First, when you are hitting that G note, Ace actually hits the F# a feet below and bends it up to the G. Second, he just does the D->Dsus4 down in the open position.
Love Kiss and I always say they do not get enough credit for how rock and roll they are. I also never realized how similar this is to Firehouse which I kind of know how to play.....thanks Marty!
There's a video here on youtube of Ace explaining and demonstrating the way he played this and Cold Gin. same chords of course but way different positioning. Just goes to show there's more than one way to play a song.
For sure man. I play it based on economy and what sounds like the record to me. Guitarist use tabs as opposed to sheet music because there are so many ways to play the same thing, but tabs show you the most "logical" place in most cases. I think on the record they did a few different parts and positions, it sounds like it anyways. Ace probably wouldn't remember. Hahaha 😂😂😂😂
Kiss was my first favorite band ever! Then zep then when vh1 came out my head exploded. As i matured in my playing one 30 years i realized how grea ace was at making chicken salad out out chicken S. Lol . Its all in the feel and groove, 🤘🤘
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker and the crazy thing is is every now and then I go back and listen to old tapes of me when I was like 18 19 20 and really only played in that box my solos sounded better than what I do now sometimes ..LOL to me oh well LOL
Hahah! Thanks man! Now that would have been great. Maybe I should make a parts Les Paul with the Ace smoke bomb installed and add it into my next science video for amps cranked on the deck.
I sometimes barre it too. But man lately I am digging the open snappy strings. I think Ace and Paul layer the parts with both on the record. It sounds warm like barre chords and snappy like root chords at the same time. 😎🤟🏻🍺
@@Dr.Jekyll Awesome man, just watched it. 😁👍🏻 I've always really liked KISS. Got my first KISS record Rock n Roll Over when I was 6 years old. My older brother gifted it to me. He passed away a few years ago from cancer. Still have that album in mint condition. What a treasure man
@@DeputyVanHalen5150 Man that’s tough. I’m sorry to hear that. But it’s a cool thing to have an older brother share something like that with you, and you’ll always have Kiss and that album to remember him by. He must have been a cool guy.
Enjoy the video however, Ace does not play it the same way .. I know Paul Stanley is playing something different while Ace is playing his part ..He claims he’s never had guitar lessons but yet some points out how he’s playing pentatonic scales..back in those days didn’t have videos to learn from .I grew up in that time. Chorus isn't even close... It doesn't emulate the intro, it's unique to the song. A A (Shock me), G (make me feel better) DD-DD-D-CC A A (Shock me...) Ace also used an open G chord in this chorus with the root note played as an F# bent up to G. Very unique sound and a regular technique he uses

Ace is great. But KISS had a well oiled production that was sleek that involved a lot of moving parts, people and money. I just don't know how they could have got him on the bill for that last show. He just has been out of the fold for too long with the KISS show. If it was like the good old days where you just plug into an amp and rip. I would loved to have seen him out there with them for a song or two. But it really wasn't something I think they could navigate. 🤷☮️
As said before Marty mentioned the e flat tuning. I actually appreciate youtubers showing stuff in standard tuning. If I want to play along to the record I'll tune down.
The D-G open G-bend, and the A sus is not correctly performed/sounding. Here it is from Ace ruclips.net/video/yFwJk0KAG2M/видео.htmlsi=MDnzZZsti-tUFPlk

Yes and the D in the frst riff is played as a A over D . . Keith Richards style
