  • In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Jessie's Girl Boy Rick Springfield. Why you may ask? Well, this song is a great tune and also a crowd pleaser.... plus there are some cool part to learn in this tune and it's fun to play. I cover all the parts and also include tips on how to solo in D Major/B Minor with two popular pentatonic positions and provide incite on melodic soling phrases and how to dial in the right sound and feel. As musicians, we often have to play songs we don't like or are cliche. Remember, our job is to provide entertainment, and if the crowd loves it, chances are you will have a great time as well, and the club will as your band back to play again. And hey, you might just get lucky. I hope you enjoy the lesson. Please subscribe!

    Neil Geraldo, Pat B’s husband, played on the original track.

      True. Neil played bass and lead on the recording. Rick was an accomplished guitar player prior to this, a popular band in Australia called "Zoot"

    You make a great point about playing to the audience. I live in S. America and people don't know most of what I'm learning/practicing - but how much CCR or AC/DC can one man tolerate?! This song surely fits for many events. Certainly not expected on this channel, but very welcomed. Thanks!

    Although the chord progressions of this song are quite simple all the tricks involved make it challenging and interesting. Thanks for the lesson, Marty!

    As a three man band, back in the day, there were a lot of songs that I would have to improvise the keyboard part on the guitar. Jump was one of them, but pulled it off convincingly.

    Need to see how Pat benatar's husband spider had a little hand in it.
    Cadillac I've done everything for you Sammy Hagar that Rick pretty much did really well.
    I'm like you I think a lot of that 80 stuff pop rock too I really come to appreciate even though the two key members passed away the outfield again.

    Did you know that Neil Gerald Gerardo? Actually wrote the music for that song. Jessie's girl he played all the guitar parts on that whole album And he produced it Springfield. It was not much of a guitar player. New Gerardo. It's a very underrated guitar Player, he is played on.
    So many albums is not funny and produce them

    • @theblacksquirrel.
      @theblacksquirrel. 3 месяца назад +1

      Sorry, but that's not actually correct. Neil played lead and bass only. Rick was the sole song writer, Keith Olsen was the producer. Rick was quite an accomplished guitar player, check out his previous band "Zoot" and their cover of Elenor Rigby.

    • @Ranch5150SkinWalker
      @Ranch5150SkinWalker  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeh, the solo to me is one you can improvise over live (for me anyways). I showed the start and a couple signature bends. I just didn't feel that the solo is iconic enough for note for note replication. But that's just my opinion... I figured it may be more beneficial to show how to fish vs just serve the food in this case.
